While this isn't something we'd normally post about, it is no secret that we here on Kingdom Hearts Insider love ourselves some The World Ends With You! Earlier this evening a Japanese teaser site for The World Ends With You, known as It's A Wonderful World in Japan, opened up with a countdown. The initial countdown that ends at 12AM local time leads to a six day countdown, accompanied with a strange "Twister" & "Calling" remix that changes everyday. Day 1 adds the English and Japanese version of "Hybrid" and the male vocals of "Twister", while Day 0 adds the female vocals of "Twister" done by Stephanie.
Three days left! What will be revealed?

I would love to see it on the 3DS or Wii U (though I prefer the 3DS much more) because I'd love to see the game in 3D, it would look like a pop-up book!!! A POP-UP BOOK!!!!!!
The biggest disappointment I can see now is this end up being an iOS game that Nomura was interested in looking into.
It could certainly work on the Wii U, but I'd like some consistency and keep the series within the DS family.

This is special and deserves this kind of attention. Especially since Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, and TWEWY are all Square-Enix and we like to get all of them seen.
And may I remind people, if this is a sequel that Haley Joel Osment should make a special appearance in the game ;)
Square-Enix has, in recent years, made a bad habit of driving good franchises into the ground through pumping out both too many titles and such titles far too rapidly. Think Kingdom Hearts, think Final Fantasy. The former was great early on because of how new and wondrous it was, that's pretty much gone and replaced with a bloated mythos. Look at the former - there's been Final Fantasy XIV and probably three Final Fantasy XIII games before FFVXIII will be released.
TWEWY was perfectly self-contained as a game and a universe and I frankly don't trust Square-Enix or any particular individual within to not screw it up in some regard. At the very least it's nice to see that the next potential TWEWY game is at least on the 'next generation' of handheld gaming.
In other news, the Twister remixes are really good.
Otherwise, dibs them revealing a Director role/character in the TWEWY universe.
In response to the question about a Final Mix of KH3D, Nomura said that the Osaka team was working on other projects. If this turns out to be a new game, maybe he is giving them a break from Kingdom Hearts and having them work on this.

I'm so ready, it's ridiculous. But really, whatever this is, I'm getting it. Whether it be a sequel or even TWEWY Kart racing (though really Kingdom Karts has such a better ring to it), I'm getting it. Don't even get me started on how excited I'd be for a Theatrhythm: TWEWY.

No doubt, if a sequel, it is because of the fans response to the initial game, however I have faith that this one will be able to stand up to the quality of the first game. I don't think that the example of the Final Fantasy's is fair in this comparison. That seems completely different to me, since one if full-blown console games where as this is just a portable game which can take less time to develop.

Oh I see. Regardless, I too share the same opinion that it should be in complete 3D like the ones in KH. To be honest, I love TWEWY except for the graphics, it felt dull for me, and even though it might feel different if the Sequel is in 3D, I'd love it more than its current form.

Yeah, I ordered both the TWEWY soundtrack from the online store and BBS:FM from Play-Asia at the same time a couple months ago, and BBS:FM came in first despite shipping from across the world :P

I have to disagree with your KH example we've had a total of 4 games since KH2 that's a span of 7 years that doesn't strike me as pumping out sequels to "rapidly" KH still has that sense of "wonder" it's why it still has such a large fanbase and still makes SE money I for one love seeing a new game featuring the character's that I've come to love sine KH1 not and the inclusion of even newer characters.

For the sake of 3D, really.
I think the game refered some past events in the reaper game. Only one thing I would hate: No Neku. Probably the only character that wouldn't be a cameo would be Joshua.

Honestly, I hope it isn't a prequel. Now, what would be great is having past events being expanded on in a sequel. And another one of those cute comics drawn by Shiro Amano that is just him drawing silly stuff and little-to-no Joshua yet giving him the best appearance ever.
If I recall correctly, TWEWY was the last game I really played on the DS. It was so enthralling, I've never been so immersed in a DS game before. I can't wait to see what's in store.

I'd still prefer a prequel to a sequel, preferrably starring Josh, Mr. H, or maybe Kariya. I could see a sequel about Josh happening, but I'd be pumped for anything as long as nekus not the main character again. His story deserves to end the way it already ended.

[spoiler=Mr. H]He didn't summon them, he created them. Mr. H then taught Sho the refinery sigil to create more, then when Sho couldn't perfect the sigil he finished the equation/array. He did it as another way to defeat Joshua if other methods failed to stop the Composer from destroying Shibuya.[/spoiler]

To be honest, I've played the game and I loved it, but for some reason (I forgot), never got to finish the game. xD I've been meaning to finish it, but I still want to complete my KH trophies. xD
I don't know why, but for some reason I'm beginning to think that I'd be more happy with an expanded port for the 3DS instead of a sequel/prequel. Sure, the story could be opened up a bit more but that's the good thing about ports, you can add on extra cutscenes and extra content and get away with it without calling it a new game. The story is almost perfect and I'm afraid that with an entirely new game the plot will be butchered.
I'd still buy an expanded port too if they added things like more voice acting (it would have more than Devil Survivor: Overclocked xD), extra missions, bosses, or even a new day/week that can explain more of the background story (like the Secret Episode in Birth by Sleep: Final Mix).
I mean I'd still be happy with a sequel or prequel if they did it right, but I think it's an idea that can easily be screwed up and therefore ruin the series itself.

Just because you didn't enjoy the gameplay style doesn't mean others didn't. The game is considered a cult classic and praised by a lot of reviewers and gamers alike.

I can understand you not liking the game, but to call this game a "fail" is so wrong. If anything, I consider TWEWY the best DS game I've ever played, with a beautiful story and game mechanics that take full advantage of everything on the DS.
I don't know why, but for some reason I'm beginning to think that I'd be more happy with an expanded port for the 3DS instead of a sequel/prequel.
The thing about an expanded port is that it could easily backfire and make TWEWY seem like a cash cow and potentially hurt the series overall. I see the reason behind making another TWEWY but at the same time, I think it's a high risk situation for the game series (it'll no doubt do well in stores). If they pull it off correctly, TWEWY could be seen as a near perfect story for a series with 2 near-flawless games. However, with the expectation running high, if they mess up, TWEWY will be seen as a cash cow by many and it could really hurt the series. If they just do an expanded port (unless that expanded port is absolutely humongous, bigger than any expansions of any FM's or like Pokemon Black/White 2) reviewers and probably many people will dislike it (I won't and clearly you won't, but many others probably will)

I have to agree, I mean a DS that made you use the TOUCH SCREEN is absolutely horrifying. It is like a Wii game that made you play motion controls!!! I'd rather use my PS3 controller for my Wii games Nintendo thank you very much [/sarcasm]

Don't get so buttmad just because you didn't have the dexterity or the hand-eye coordination to play it. There's a difference between a steep learning curve and a shit game; TWEWY becomes all the better when you master the dual-control system.

What if this is truly truly a sequel and Neku and the gang have new clothes and we get to see Joshua's true form (without the glowing) and Shiki's face and her and Eri hanging together and more Stephanie songs, and Kariya as a GM and more shopkeepers flirting with Neku or the new character what if our main character is female what if we get to see Shibuya at night, and more of the ward itself!

Well, the TWEWY gang in KH3D are from one of the many alternate Shibuyas, like the Tin Pin Shibuya from Another Day. I don't imagine a game being spent on the KH!Shibuya, though I can easily see an Another Day happening in KH!Shibuya.

It might be because KH!Shibuya underwent different circumstances, most likely invaded by Heartless. That probably made Joshua see the good in Shibuya once faced with an outside force destroying everything unlike TWEWY!Joshua who could only see the corruption in Shibuya despite loving the city.

This thought hadn't even occurred to me. I feel I would be a little disappointed if Eri's character wasn't in the mix, assuming we aren't getting a whole new cast.

Three weeks. It's complicated. I finished the game in about three/four days but there is a lot to do once you're done. A LOT. After you finish you can do Another Day, get special items and unlock the secret reports (which there are a ton of, and finishing some quests are not easy)

Figured I might as well add this little tidbit, While sciming through my old copes of Nintendo Power in grieve of their cancellation I came across their Review for TWEWY giving the game an overall 9/10 and this was where I believe it was first confirmed in an interview that the art director for Kh was working on TWEWY as a main director.

Not exactly. Grass cleared things up yesterday in the actual iOS/soundtrack thread.
This came from a Go Nintendo article where the writer was given a link to a download for the bgm music on the website (containing multiple versions of Calling), with the folder labelled "The World Ends with You 2 [It's a Beautiful World 2]." So he jumped the gun on that even though the title could have been easily edited by anyone.
The writer has since posted on NeoGAF apologizing for the mistake, and even gave a link for the download.
And if you peruse that topic, you'll also find other useful information, like the fact that most of Square's countdowns end up being minor things like iOS/browser games or soundtracks.
If we ever get a sequel, I'd feel weird if we play Shiki, story and all.

I think you're reading too much into it. I think it was just a poor coding on the timer, and it only loops because it's meant to be following the time in our time zones. Because it goes fast, it would need to loop around in order for it to maintain in the correct minute.

My question is, would the things you make them wear go over their original outfit, or would it just replace it? Because when you first start the game, technically they are naked because they don't have things equipped, yet they are wearing their original clothes. So would putting a bikini on Neku go over his tanktop? Or would it take the tanktop away and then put a bikini on it instead?

Actually, that was one of the things that left me intrigued. After all, every other world that Sora and Riku visited had some sort of closure, (sometimes happy end, sometimes not) but that's not the case of the TWEWY gang in Traverse Town.
They are still in an incomplete state.
So, after the credits, when Sora went back to Traverse town, at first I thought he wanted to make sure they were still okay, or if he could still see them.
But it was about the dream eaters after all. As much as I love them, I was a bit disappointed.
I felt that the unfinished story of the TWEWY gang could hint to the original game, where they manage to finish the reaper's game, but I also wondered if it wasn't to give us a taste for more to come.
And just a few days later after I finished the game, bam, here come the teaser site with the countdown.
I really, really hope they don't leave us hanging. Since they even have the characters in 3D now, (and we can see that they put in a lot of effort, the result is great) thanks to KH3D, it would be a real shame not to use them.

The most I can hope for is unlockable outfits that we can actually switch their outfits for like some of the KH characters ones. I wanna be be able to dress Neku like Sora, maybe change the color scheme for more blue. And maybe the other characters like have a Riku outfit for Joshua and Kairi's for Shiki.

Finaly managed to order a copy of the original game now I just have to wait for that to come in... *sigh* it seems that im doing nothing but waiting theses day...
this better be a sequel for the 3ds. If it isin't hopefully its a teaser for things to come from TWEWY. This is hands down the best DS game ever made, at first i was skeptical about it when I heard it was gonna be in Dream Drop Distance, but once i played it, I was blown away by how original and creative it was especially how engaging the story and characters were. I'm pumped for the countdown to reach zero.

Heck, the main translator for the original game tweeted that there might possibly be more coming once the countdown is over. There might not be anything other than the soundtrack/iOS news, but you know what? People can be excited for it.

If you change your timezone to Japan's on your computer you won't have to stay up till midnight today. ;) It'll only be a few hours depending on where you are.
I'm only 2 hrs behind Japan (I think or maybe 1 not really sure), so I'll be getting it soon, but yea changing my computer's time is gonna be a hassle since I'll probably forget to put it back.

The price is a little high, but it makes sense as it is basically a DS game but on a phone/tablet. I can see myself paying that much for it anyway. XD

I really want it to be released for the Android considering my mom has a huge tablet that has the Android market on it and I have an Android phone. I really hate Apple's products and am going to be sad and angry if there is no Android release for it. My Tumblr dash is heating up like crazy. lol Some many angry people on Tumblr over this news.

That's.. you know, what a port is, though it's far more complicated than a simple copy/paste. The quality of this version is just beautiful, and this is probably that iOS game Nomura said he was working on several months ago.
