May not be the right thread for this, but I hope we see another original world besides Quadratum… From what we’ve seen of Quadratum, it’s hard to even call it an “original” world when it’s based off of real life Tokyo. It doesn’t have the same kind of original design as worlds like Hollow Bastion, Traverse Town, Scala, etc.

With KH3 failing to give us any full size original worlds, I’m not too hopeful that we’ll get two originals though. If not, hopefully they find ways to make Quadratum a bit more interesting.
I totally agree with you!

I don’t need the 100th iteration of Tokyo in a video game, especially in the KH franchise. In KH3 we’ve already got San Fransokyo which also modeled on Tokyo.
I’m far more interested in new original worlds which offer a variety of landscapes. Although I love the original worlds, they are always towns. We need more natural/magical original worlds.

One thing to note is that in Melody of Memory, Nameless Star indicates Quadratum is a city in her world but not the only one. And she describes it like she isn’t from there specifically. So there is definitely more to that world and maybe we’ll explore some other locations outside Quadratum. Possibly based on other real world locales.

If we can’t get any completely separate original worlds, I would take that as long as there is some variety. Maybe it could even be whatever Nomura envisioned for the original world map of VS XIII?

Back on combat, I wonder if we’ll still have summons now that the Build command is taking up the fourth command menu slot. It could be a KH2 situation where we tab over to access them. But KH3 used that for Keyblade switching which was one of the best features in the game.

What if they combined the two and attached certain skills and abilities to specific Keyblades? So we’d still swap between them, but each one would have a unique fourth option in the command menu. Kingdom Key could be Scrap/Build, another Keyblade could be Summons, and so on. Switching Keyblades could be like changing jobs/classes from FF.

Quadratum in KH3 does have a lot of somewhat-more-unique elements if you go out of bounds (lots of FF and TWEWY esque stuff).

Wasn’t Quadratum in KH3 just a San Fransokyo reskin?

Just watched the video! It had been a while since I first saw it. I’m convinced that was the extra world they were going to add to the DLC before deciding to save it for the next game. It’s too fleshed out for just that one fight.

I wonder if Quadratum we see in KH4 is an expanded version of the same model or if they built it from scratch. If they reused it, we could technically say KH4 has been in development since 2019.

Nah, not in the slightest.

100% what happened

Q8: You initially mentioned adding in the equivalent of another world into the game, but there seems to have been a change in direction?”

There was actually a new world we wanted to add, that we worked on planning and designing, but I personally could not square the logic of cutting out just that world and adding it on later. I felt that it would ultimately be better to have it as a candidate for inclusion from the start in the next game. For Re Mind, I decided to go with adding in multiple new elements, which add up to a volume of new content that is actually greater than a single new world would be. Creating this many bosses was particularly hard work!

He couldn’t “square” the logic. Was that man hinting at the Quadtratum name even then? 😅

Replaying KH2 and just did the Hydra fight. I would love it if the return of Reaction Commands/QTEs allows more side characters to help us out in battles like we see with Meg, Phil, and Pegasus here. It’s a shame something similar didn’t happen with Big Hero 6 in KH3.

The fact that KH3 didn't evolve Donald and Goofy's utility in any meaningful way kind of sucks. It'd be nice if they were more customizable like in KH1, with more controllable limits in KH2. Donald should have his own special forms of magic that Sora can't acquire (maybe more zetta-tier spells that are endgame unlocks) and Goofy should honestly have combo shortcuts like Torgal from FFXVI-- let Goofy use a launcher on an enemy so you can leap up into the air and hit the followup.

If anything, the guest party members should feel more like 'guests', where D&G should have a more integral role in your combat flow, where you can really use them in a way that feels reliable.

The 'build' command got me wondering if we'll get a more generic crafting system that is accessible at all times. Personally, I'd rather they keep the esoteric, nonspecific items like mythrill shards and whatnot instead of planks of wood, stones or whatever. And that it's still only doable in shops.

I suspect build is an environmental command for crafting useful tools or even vehicles/mecs on the field rather than items. Similar to Tears of the Kingdom. This may sound odd but remember, there are canonically giant mecs in Quadratum, we just haven't seen them in IV yet.

Now that you mention it, it does make sense that they'd try to give players a faster means of transportation (though something similar to Flowmotion would suffice) if Quadratum is to be a large hub world.

On that note, if there really is that kind of technology in Quadratum, how come nobody hopped in on one when the Darkside appeared? Of course, the teaser was focused on showing Sora off so we'll have to wait and see what happens next, or if the events play out differently next time we see that scene. Considering the engine change, I think the 2022 teaser might be to KH4 what the Sora vs Dark Tide in Twilight Town clip was to 3.

This just came to me: party forms. Like drive forms but for the whole party, not just Sora.

My wishes:

- The boss battles to be as cinematic as possible and to have different phases. Take what they did in KH3 Remind and go further.
FF7 remake saga is a good example too.

- Take advantage of PS5 SSD power. I want to be able to tranverse almost instantly between worlds. The Ratchet and Clank Rift mechanic is perfect for this franchise.

- Worlds to not be small like Twilight Town and Demon World were in KH3 or limited by Disney like Arendelle was. I'm satisfied with the size of the bigger ones in KH3. The next step shouldn't be to make those even bigger, but to make the others less small and add more Worlds. Also add more NCPs when dealing with citys to make the worlds feel more alive

- Better dialogue, shorter cutscenes and better balance between them and gameplay. I want to feel like I'm playing a game and not watching a movie. Until now KH3 was the only game that make me feel was watching a movie and that's not a compliment.

- Better pacing and direction. I love a big story event in the middle game like KH2 had in Radient Garden. Not fan of this formula of leaving all the important stuff to after the Disney Worlds. Feels like we're doing filler until the last part of the game.

- 100 Acre Wood is done. Find another optional Disney World for this saga.

- Sora not being the only playable character. This one should be a given at this point. I want to play as Riku at least. Yozora if possible too 👀

This is the most important one: Focus on making a good game. Not only pleasing Disney. KH3 base game priority always felt like it was to please Disney. Tell a good story and please the fans was secondary. That is the wrong mentality to have even when dealing with time constraints.
