A new KINGDOM HEARTS III screenshot was released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of FINAL FANTASY VII! This screenshot shows off Sora at Mysterious Tower, replicating the famous visual of Cloud facing the Shinra building.
Earlier today, new key art for FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE was revealed during the Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary event!

It is so weird how they like have adamantly not used Kingdom Key in any shots. Part of me thought that they really wanted to hiding Kingdom Key's transformations since it being such an iconic keyblade its transformations inherently are a bit more special. But at this point I just don't know, it feels so long since we've seen kingdom key. We know Sora will still have it at the start of KH3 because of 0.2 but still...

It is interesting that we see this Keyblade so much. I'm definitely not big on it, but it seems like each Keyblade is going to be unique in transformation, if not necessarily viable. I'm always happy to stick with Kingdom Key (especially in KH2 where it's viable almost all the way through)

Looks pretty good! 0.2 already proved that KH3 is going to look amazing, and Sora's new clothes just look better every time I see them. Didn't like them all that much when I first saw them, but I really like them a lot now.
Idk if it's just me but at first I thought that it was just an MMD screen from Deviantart lol. I guess wirting made me feel that

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Keyblade is an evolution of Star Seeker or just a new chain given by Yen Sid. The length of the blade curves in a similar way to Star Seeker and Yen Sid's tower and it has a similar looking colour palette. But yeah, the picture sort of looks like fan art the way the bushes are. I'm going to assume it won't look like that in the final game.

It is definitely intentional. It has the Lux emblem and a similar keychain to the Starlight.

tbh the image is very LQ so everything looks a bit off in general.
I would love it if that keyblade was actual the same one Yen Sid wielded before he retired. The same one he used to preform the ceremony for Lea.
Personally I think the Keyblade has more to do with X[chi]/UX than it does Yen Sid but we'll find out eventually

As it stands, drops of news signal that there is more to come than being a sign that nothing is to come.
Seems I'm not the only one who thinks that new Keyblade is somehow related to Starlight. As if it's some super evolution of it or something. That'd be really really cool if it turned out to be the case. That being said, I hope that doesn't become Sora's default Keyblade upon him receiving his new outfit.

We've seen them use Kingdom Key with his new outfit. I think they want people to see more of what is new than a weapon that is old (even if the new is kind of old already lol)

is anyone frustrated by how little we've seen Disney characters? I'm generally patient for the game itself but for some reason I'm really chomping at the bit to see how they're doing with characters from Hercules and Rapunzel

Considering I always found almost every KH III trailer/screenshot pretty bland and cheap hype-inducing, I'm frustrated by how little they showed everything, yes.

I mean, it's not like there's much to show, so I appreciate whenever they show us something.

I don't get excited seeing the same two areas but a couple seconds longer everytime and Rage Awakened in the background doesn't automatically make me fall in love with everything, sorry.
(Not saying you do, but I've seen countless of fans getting into hype mode from that and I think it was the purpose all along)

KH3's coverage was nonexistent last year but it was understandable because of the need to promote 2.8 (specifically 0.2) and I had a lot of fun with 0.2 and I'm playing 3D right now. Now they did tease something that'll be announced in the winter and they got bout a month to deliver on that so don't pull out the pitchforks yet.
I will get my pitchfork out if there is not a REAL KH3 trailer this year at E3. Not some gameplay outside Rapunzel's tower or the Twilight town tram common. I mean a real story trailer with dialogue coming from Sora and others, multiple worlds and I do want a release window. I'd lose my sh#t if at the end of the trailer it'd say SPRING 2018. That'd be sweet.

Gotta agree with the plot elements - I'd love to see more and I hope the next trailer is a story trailer.

The only thing that really made me lose my stuff was the Titan bit, because in addition to seeing a KH III I managed to grasp what I will do when I actually got the game, dunno if I'm explaining myself.

I actually liked her Air Combo a lot - the finisher is really ehh imo, so kinda agreed on that one.

her aerial spiral (first move in her air combo) is actually DOPE. It homes right in on enemies and covers a larger distance than any other physical attack she has. Aerial Spiral, beginning of ground combo, dodge roll, rinse repeat is the fastest way to do damage afaik
I really want to see Rapunzel already,mainly just to see how they handle the hair.

I honestly don't think you need to fear, her combo being off is because the still made her fight like Aqua of which their only basis for is BBS. So they carried over Aqua's less than ideal combos and her finisher is basically meant to be a slightly tweaked version of her default command bar finisher, which wasn't that great. We've seen a number of times Sora does regular combos in KH3 and he looks to be fighting the same as ever though for some reason they brought back KH1's sliding dash and I dunno how I feel about that tbh....

it was great for closing the gap in the early game, dealing damage without putting yourself at risk too much, but it has a lot of endlag which makes it bad for endgame enemies who tend to be more mobile anyway. A faster sliding dash would be dope though
KH1 didn't have the best tracking either so there was sort of an issue where Sora would slide at enemies and slide right past them...which is sort of hilarious to watch but not super conductive to gameplay.
The way Osaka had been doing sliding dash I honestly feels was the best (even if they made it confusing by introducing a command series called sliding dash which is totally different). Your wielder basically stabs their keyblades straight ahead, sliding themselves forward quite a fair distance and always sliding to where the enemy is moving not to where it is. When you hit there is very little end lag letting you combo quite nicely and recover quickly. Like Aqua's sliding dash in 0.2 feels very nice, very responsive, and very conductive to the combat flow. But KH1's never felt like that and I am skeptical Osaka can make it work, I think it's fundamentally borked because of the way they animation for it is.
With the exception of KH2 (and BBS is trash in general) air combos have always been the best way to do physical damage in KH. in KH1, Sora's ground combo is mostly comprised of big meaty hits, but when you jump and attack, the hits come out remarkably faster; same is true for DDD and 0.2.
Actually looking over it Sora doesn't even stop at the enemies he slides right through and that will be annoying if every time we try to close distance we go through the enemy. Unless that isn't sliding dash but some new form of that sliding impact move from BBS and DDD. Or perhaps maybe it's actually a new form offensive dodging, Osaka games did have that.

it's funny how KH combat seems to excel at something once before never excelling at it again. KH1 had those sick nasty PUNCHY finishers that send enemies flying, KH2 has the buttery smooth seamless combo mods, DDD feels better in the air than it's brothers, BBS.... haha jk
KH1 also had all those easter eggs and alternative ways of fighting during boss fights which I miss way more than any sick mechanic or amazing plot twist.
Discovering them made the battles all the more memorable.

It was a nice way to make battles even more your own decision, something that later games sacrificed in order of a more forced style.

I always had such an easy time with Maleficent when I first fought her, the flying platform thing was easily one of the most efficient ways to take out a boss in that game.
And don't get me started with the fact that to kill a boss in Kingdom Hearts II you had to have a move that could qualify as a combo to kill a boss. Now that I know just using magic counts as its own thing, it's less bad, but as a kid I didn't understand that at all, and I lost SO many endgame boss battles because the boss had like 4 HP left but I wasn't able to land a single hit in the last stand (DEMYX).

I'm desperate to see them, but I'm also totally fine with them taking their time, since it's pretty clear looking at how long it took them to perfect the models in 0.2 (with debated success) there's no doubt in my mind that it'd take them even longer to perfect characters like Rapunzel and her hellish to animate hair.

One can only weep for the amount of time it's going to take those animators to animate her hair.
I would certainly love to see a shiny new Hercules model or even Phil if we got the chance! I'd also love to see some new original character models, like Riku's or Kairi's, in a new trailer this year, along with another look at Kingdom Hearts III Aqua. For some reason her model just didn't do it for me in 0.2, I hope they touch it up quite a bit for the last game (which I'm sure they will).
Just saw the picture, and it's a pretty neat reference at FF7.
I just wonder if this means Cloud and the gang are going to return with a bigger role....
