Today, Nomura took to Twitter to unveil the new trailer for KINGDOM HEARTS 3, a longer version of the one that’s been playing ahead of various films in theaters in North America. He also had an incredible announcement to make: Kingdom Hearts 3 development has finally concluded! The game has gone gold!

That was a very underwhelming trailer. Not much new stiff was shown and it obviously is catering to the GA and not the actual fand. I guess it’s just cool to see oh be promoted in theatres.

It's well cut, picks better exciting moments than most of the other trailers, and has sound effects and hype music instead of Don't Think Twice and no sound effects. It's the perfect trailer to advertise the game with.

I'm certain that it isn't Depp, but it also is no longer James Arnold Taylor. Some people think it might be Jared Butler, but no one can yet say for sure. In any case, he doesn't sound exactly like Johnny Depp, but it's a GOOD voice for the character of Jack Sparrow and isn't distracting like James was.

Yep. Just watched a trailer reaction of an individual you can tell is not a die hard fan. She LOVED it and was very excited for the game's release. As am I!
The trailer dropped as I literally stepped out of work (1 am) so this has been the longest hour of trying to get home so I can watch the trailer on my Apple TV.
It's so good because the QA contracts are now up, development has ended, and the mass production of the game is about to begin so we can all get the game in January. We have been very blessed on this day ;A;
a quick analysis of the keychains shown leads me to a theory on a rough world order.
Olympus will be the first world as we know, but from here it's also looking like Toy Box will be directly followed by Corona directly followed by Arendelle, and at some point the Caribbean is directly followed by Big Hero 6. monsters inc and the rest are still unclear.
and of course all of this is fairly baseless since you can now switch keychains on the fly, but most trailers before have used the same keychain as the world being shown, or just a random mix of ones we've seen. this time they all feel deliberate, as if they were lifted directly from someone's playthrough

So, it looks like Riku still has Way to the Dawn when he is fighting the Heartless with Mickey (you can see the wing as his keyblade is starting to materialize). So I guess he gets his new keyblade after whatever happens that causes Way to the Dawn to break.

What is most interesting about this is Mickey already has the new Keyblade at that point. Aqua picks it up when Riku is injured, probably after his Keyblade is destroyed, so it isn't something Mickey stole from Aqua or from the Realm of Darkness. It probably just IS a parting gift from Yen Sid.

Hearing "Development of Kingdom Hearts 3 is now finished" is a phrase I knew I would eventually hear but somehow didn't believe it. But here it is. The game is done. It's officially complete. After 5 and a half years since the initial reveal, it's finally ready to go.

This was an interesting look at the game. I swear we've seen similarly styled trailers here in the US before, but maybe I'm just thinking of FF. I appreciated all the action scenes, and the Ariel summon is worthy of being a closing shot.

Well if 100 Acre Woods was the last Disney world I'm certain we would know by now. With new trailers coming next month I doubt they would be soley dedicated to old content and original worlds.
^Yep, I'm pretty sure if another Disney property was in the the game they would not wait to show it off, as in it would actively be a ppart of the advertisement push like all the other disney properties. Winnie the Pooh does not move the needle with people not in their twenties so they could wait on that. The big trailers in December are probably more gameplay (we have yet to see buts and bolts of gameplay or the gummi ship section in depth) and story related. People keep mentioning keyblade forms as proof for other worlds but keyblades have never been solely connected to just worlds to begin with.

Something as simple as a blast-noise when Elsa launches ice at that Heartless is enough to take a scene from kinda-awkward to kinda-epic. Yay sound-effects!
I feel like one reason as to why they already do all the promo without the last few Disney worlds is because they might be less popular Disney movies. General public doesn't care about Winnie the Pooh either. This makes me think that the last/one of the last worlds we'll get is Atlantis and some other less popular movie. No one besides hardcore KH/Disney fans will care about an Atlantis World reveal.
While my confidence in more Disney worlds is a little shaken, they could easily be saving one or two for next month to have for some final major announcements. Or like others said, the worlds aren’t based on properties that will be as easily recognizable by the audiences that this is aimed to.
However, the worlds we have are going to be huge and amazing, so if there aren’t any more worlds, it is what it is.

Well, that just happened, but an overall exciting trailer showing more on the story and more footage of the previously announced Disney worlds. At least we got a brief scene of Randall behind Boo’s door from the 2018 Orchestra event and the first appearances of Maleficent and Pete since the 2017 Orchestra trailer. No doubt this would be their official final look during the Olympus world, especially during their conversation with Hades.
Also good to see that Development of KH3 has finally concluded after 4-5 years. Now that this was the final November trailer, looking forward to seeing the final trailers next month and the announcements of the final two Disney worlds.

The two worlds at E3 is why I think they still have stuff up their sleeve. I know E3 is a big deal, but either of those worlds could have carried the conference on their own and they could have saved one for a later announcement if there weren’t any other new worlds to be shown between then and now. By revealing two worlds around the same time, they would repeat the massive hype from E3, only greater thanks to being so close to release. So I definitely don’t think it’s impossible that they are keeping two worlds under wraps to really explode the marketing here in the last few weeks, but we’ll see!
Also, anyone notice that the cutscene of the Rock Titan fight is different than the one shown in the Demos. Even I was the one to notice that Goofy and Donald's look in the trailer is shown to be scared/frightened rather than angered or serious that they are ready to fight.
It looks like we're getting different angles of things sometimes in this trailer (including the rock titan fight included earlier). This could be an editing trick or how it actually has been changed, who knows.
Also, I'm not sure how I feel about this style of trailer for KH. On the one hand, it's a LOT different from the other trailers and uses lots of editing tricks to make it appear more cinematic and tense. On the other hand, it's a LOT more effective at drawing in a crowd. I'm happy that they used this to advertise the game; the other trailers weren't the greatest for drawing in new crowds due to the weird sound mixing and the inclusion of SO many KH-specific characters everywhere.

I guess after Pooh's reveal this month I didn't expect another new world, however, I did expect to see more Pooh lol. We saw like none of it. And its still crazy we seemingly don't know multiple original worlds in the game? At least presumably. Though we can guess a few.

More of a commercial/teaser than a trailer, but still one of the better promotional spots for KH3. The voiceover could have been great, but given that there wasn't even one mention of, "Travel to your favorite Disney worlds," I give it an F for effort. The stinger with MX was also unnecessary, general audiences won't have a clue what's going on there and longtime fans have already seen that scene and we also don't really know what's going on there.
But in general the editing was really spot on and the scene selections were effective. Definitely felt like it called back to the old KH1/KH2 tv spots.

But, it at least seems like the plot isn't going to come to a screeching halt for the sake of episodically recreating Disney moments. With the few worlds that follow the original Disney movie storyline, seems as though KH lore will affect them on some level.

I echo the same sentiments as the majority, this trailer is amazing, and the movie-like arrangement is fitting. It really brings home Kingdom Hearts amalgamation of Disney franchises.

Somebody on Reddit was able to point out the scenes in which the switched Keyblades are present.
The theme is that Olympus is first because Kingdom Hearts nostalgia, with the Pixar worlds being next as the new flavour for the franchise, followed by the Disney Princess worlds for the second half for familiarity, then we have our Live-action world finished with the most recent Disney property as of Kingdom Hearts III’s development.

There’s absolutely no way that these are all of the Disney worlds. For starters, Nomura stressed the “parts†of the Disney worlds, first part, second part and final part. Olympus, Toy Box and Monstropolis is the first part, with 100 Acre Wood, Kingdom of Corona and Arendelle being the second part, so to only have two Disney worlds as the final part just does not make sense.

Nomura never stated that 100 Acre Wood, Kingdom of Corona and Arendelle IS the second part. Especially cause 100 Acre Wood is not it's own world! It's once again in the company of Merlin whom is in Twilight Town and a BOOK!
The Disney Worlds are in reference to the ones you have to travel by Gummi Ship. 100 Acre Wood is a sub world a part of Twilight Town which is the 2nd world visited after Olympus.
Which means there's at least 2 worlds left. A Disney Princess world to go with the other Princess ones in the second part and the final one to go with BH6 and POTC.

I believe it was revealed in the latest interviews that the book is with Merlin and it's basically been inferred that Merlin has gone to Twilight Town.
Bottom line 100 Acre Wood does not count to the beginning,middle,end thing.
And they basically already said that the book has hidden pages hence some of Pooh's friends missing again and the page cover is different now.

Nomura also said that Disney worlds are not going to have second world visits and that visiting all the Disney worlds is going to be mandatory. Which means that the page collection mechanic is very likely to be scrapped altogether. Besides, we got Classic Kingdom games as our collectables for this game.
Also, Timeless River was advertised as a Disney world in Kingdom Hearts II's website despite being in Disney Castle. So yes, in my opinion, 100 Acre Wood is part of the world order.
Timeless River is completely different then 100 Acre Wood. It was advertised because story takes place there. Not to mention there's actual game play and fighting and boss battles.
100 Acre Woods has always been cute filler that does nothing for the overall story and has always been mini games.

Take a look at who did the translating from that article (not an interview).
All that it says is that Merlin asked Sora to look at the book. You can guess he's in Twilight Town based on Radiant Garden not shown to be playable and Scrooge having set up a restaurant in Twilight Town, but that's what it is. A guess.
Okay, so. Based on the time they've gone gold and what Nomura said in regards to being told their release date was not good for western markets, I'm going to guess that it was going to be released December 25th originally (which is a Tuesday). Christmas isn't a nationally celebrated holiday in Japan from what I understand, and their shops remain open. Meanwhile in the West, I believe many stores in several countries simply close down for the day. I know that's the case in the US, and I've heard similar about Canada and UK at least. Not only would it be a stonecold poor decision for western markets, but it's the only date in the November-December range I could see causing that much trouble. Also strangely, despite them saying they want to release them as close together as possible Japan gets the game January 25th. I wonder if it's not a nod to the original release date.
Not that this really matters, it just makes sense to me.

They didn't delay it because of development, it was delayed to accommodate a worldwide release

All games to be released must have gone gold. This indicates that development has concluded and there exists a master copy of the game to be shipped off to mass production. The “gold†is a reference to back in the day when the master was printed on a gold disc.

The situations between these two games are totally different. Nothing about FFXV’s development should suggest in any way that KH3 will be anything like it. While FFXV had to be delayed due to development issues that still weren’t resolved by release, Kingdom Hearts 3’s development has been completely on schedule. They only moved its release for marketing purposes. So since they have finalized the game’s development as planned, you shouldn’t have to worry about KH3 feeling like a game forced out of the gate to meet a deadline. They could have easily taken a few more weeks on development if they needed to.
That isn’t to say KH3 won’t still have issues, but they won’t exist for the same reasons FFXV’s did.

I think it’s just I can’t realize the game’s finished. As we are approaching the release date, I am starting to be kind of worried about how the game will be like. I keep rewatching this trailer and laughing to myself thinking about the people who see this trailer at a movie theater who have no idea what Kingdom Hearts is trying to figure out what in the hell this is actually a trailer for. What is amazing about this is how many people have fought back saying KH3 hasn’t gone gold. They think QA still needs to happen without realising that QA has been going on for months and their contracts end on November 21st (the amount of things SE employees tweet...)

People have been inventing things for what Osaka could be doing now, with QA being one of the things mentioned before, and a few have said that “going gold†means the game is ready to be shipped and sold (going gold means it CAN be sold, as the master disc contains everything that will be on the discs sold in stores, but it physically can’t be sold because it’s the only copy. Being ready to ship out to stores happens long after going gold).

Of course patches will be worked on from this point but yeah this is good news whatever the case. If others choose to be ignorant that's their problem.

Considering I am not used to the english voice acting in general it was a bit jarring to me personally, but I can't really say much for or against him as a voice actor because he isn't really "Sora" to me. But I didn't think he sounded "a mess". Just different.
The more shocking voice was the overly dramatic man in the beginning.
That being said!! I think the game looks absolutely lovely. I was already excited during the afternoon because the 711 closest to my house actually had JUST put up a giant Kingdom Hearts 3 banner out front advertising pre-orders. It must have been a sign that the trailer was going to drop that evening (or so I like to think).
It was actually a very funny moment to me, because there I was, sitting on a bus heading home feeling sleepy as hell and I glance out the window and suddenly see Sora smiling at me from a giant poster and had to blink a few times to register what the heck was happening.
Overall I think it was a nicely put together trailer, albeit a bit dramatic, but good for people who I think have no idea what the game is about. If I had never heard of the series before and saw that, I think I would be incredibly intrigued to see more. It reminds me of when I was 12 years old seeing KH advertised for the first time and being filled with this incredibly curious wonder.
I hope someone out there sees it and can experience that feeling themselves, and joins in the adventure with all of us.
I admit I did have to pause it a moment after over-dramatic man said "ONLY YOU CAN STOP THE DARKNESS" and I'm just sitting there thinking like "well, I mean...I guess I'm the one controlling Sora but honestly I wouldn't attribute it to ME..." It felt a bit odd considering a theme of the game is teamwork and not being like I AM THE HERO! ME! But maybe that is how to get things to sell...

The answer is no, for a couple of reasons:
1) Studios do not determine which trailers will play with their movies nor which movies their trailers will play with (people imagining Disney somehow decided to place this before Fantastic Beasts are ill informed), and not all theaters play the same trailers with the same movies. Even within the same theater a single movie may have multiple trailer packages assigned. As an example, when Justice League released last year, the theater I work at had it on three screens, and each screen had its own set of trailers assigned to play with the feature. So the average moviegoer would have no easy way of successfully determining which showtime would play any given set.
2) This trailer has not been (nor do I anticipate it will be) released as assignable promotional content. That is, it is not intended to be placed with specific features as showtime content. Which leads to:
3) Like all video game promotions shown in theaters, this is a generic ad which will play before the feature showtime of any movie at any cinema where the ad space for it has been purchased by Disney/Square Enix. It's not really a trailer, so don't think of it that way. It's essentially a commercial that will play along with others in the 20-30 minute time span before the movie presentation is scheduled to begin. Most likely it's intended to be rolled out over the course of the holiday season and should be hitting pretty much all theaters by January, if I had to wager a guess.
Right now, my advice is not to go out of your way to try and see it. If you're already planning on seeing a movie, get a seat well before showtime and you might get lucky. The closer we get to the release date, the higher your chances of seeing it are going to be, as promotion for the game expands into full swing.

We have received a lot of comments about people thinking “development has wrapped†meaning they’re moving on to another part of development which is like... no it’s done. It’s over. What will be on the disc day one has been completed and exported. Any work done from here on in will be for patches.
We have gotten that shipping explanation as well. They take the “ready to be sold†part literally when it means that the master disc is what will be used with sales. Square can sell the master disc right now and it would load up the game on any PS4 and Xbox one but they need the disc for mass production.
And then there are people who don’t believe it’s gone gold unless Nomura specifically says that. Other companies have PR people write tweets about it going gold because that’s the language used in Western offices. This one was Nomura speaking in the language they use in the Osaka office. It baffles me that people just can’t accept that the game is done and dusted. Square would literally gain nothing from lying about where KH3 is at this stage.
I can imagine that some people are confused about the fact that when they've "gone gold" now, at the end of November, why then they won't be able to buy the game i.e. come christmas this year.
The official release date is the end of January next year.
So to these people when they say they've "gone gold" at the end of November which translates to them as "the game is finished and ready" they don't understand why there is still a two-month gap until they can finally buy it.
I wonder if they'll use the extra time (December and most of January) to work on a quality of life day one patch to address any lingering inconveniences in the game like they did with 0.2. It may or may not happen, but I also can't base KH3's future on how 0.2 went, because 0.2 was rushed and KH3 most certainly was not.
i hope they take the time to make sure the game runs well on base ps4&xbox now, they have 2 months to do it, so i'll be super disappointed if it will run like crap on my normal ps4.

I think there’s a Japanese version of this trailer being put together separately. The weird thing is, they did release this one to Japanese audiences with the English dialogue and Japanese subtitles, but there are some minor differences between them. In the Japanese version, you can hear Sora say, “huh†when Maleficent shows up and Donald doesn’t say, “Come on, let’s go!†at the Rock Titan part. So it’s just interesting that these are two different edits.

As good as this trailer was, it brought out the ugliest parts of both sides.
KH fans complained about this trailer not telling anything new (am I the only one who found seeing the cutscene bits more informative and trailer-like than "hey this guy is back too and he's a Nort"?) and at the same time there was the usual amount of people crying about how 99% of KH III is already spoiled by trailers, plus all the "gone gold" issues mentioned above.
KH detractors... you know the gist. The announcement of development complete had the same effect of wet paper mache on the "HAR HAR THIS GAME IS NEVER COMING OUT HAR HAR" memes.
Not even the trailerest of trailers was able to go by without raising some fusses, I guess a clean reputation slate is truly impossible at this point.

I don’t think it’s their opinion that is snobby. It’s the way these people present it as if they are the voice of God in deciding what a Kingdom Hearts trailer should be like and everyone who likes it has poor taste. That’s literally what being snobby is. They also often overblow the situation as if the trailer is going to ruin the game for them.
There are and will continue to be all kinds of KH3 trailers with various tones and target audiences. They aren’t all going to appeal to everyone and no one is less than you if they have a differing opinion. Like others have pointed out, this was an obvious throwback to the old, “you never know who you’ll run into next trailer for KH1. So for many of us, it’s a nice touch of nostalgia. For others, it’s too formulaic. That’s fine.
But keep in mind what this trailer is meant for. This trailer is 100% meant to be seen in theatres by kids and parents that know Disney but probably not KH. It’s generic for the purpose of simplicity and is driven by the appearance of many Disney characters that will attract kids to buy the game. So you’re still free to not like it, but at least have some understanding for of why it was made the way it was.
Also, people need to just let people enjoy things. This trailer is not going to harm anyone in any measurable way and it won’t be anyone’s concern come January 29th. There’s no reason for people to freak out because they don’t like a trailer.
Although I'm not disappointed with the trailer at all since it's a good trailer that will introduce more people into KH, I personally don't mind when trailers tell and show more things about the story or original character interactions. I know this is just me and I honestly don't expect this kind of trailer to show up casually at theaters or in TV teasers, only at major game events like Jump Festa or TGS. It's actually one of the better trailers that we've seen so far, especially with that narration.
I'm not sure what people complaining about this trailer really expected, the 100 Acre Wood one at the Xbox event deserved more criticism than this one.

The way I see it, the more newcomers who play KH3, the more likely it is we'll encounter folks who are interested but are lost plot-wise. At that point, you'll get to feel like that one person in your friend circle who read the original Witcher novels and played the PC games back when The Witcher 3 was large and in charge (when we'll more accurately resemble Charlie Day in front of his Pepe Silvia conspiracy web).

Yeah that's why I like it so much, focusing on fun Disney stuff and the fun magic of the crossover. It's what got me into the series for sure. Well, I did/do like anime as well, so that aesthetic being involved was cool too. I hope some new people see this and feel the same way. Your subjective and uncorroborated read on what constitutes "freaking out" and "losing all rationale" does not make for an easy third-party reference point in identifying trends of cyber bullying pertaining to this discussion. On the contrary, I think the less they reveal about the actual story the better. Do not repeat the errors of BBS and DDD with story trailers that made it possible to theorize and pinpoint like 90% of the story.

Nomura also said that Disney worlds are not going to have second world visits and that visiting all the Disney worlds is going to be mandatory. Which means that the page collection mechanic is very likely to be scrapped altogether. Besides, we got Classic Kingdom games as our collectables for this game.
Also, Timeless River was advertised as a Disney world in Kingdom Hearts II's website despite being in Disney Castle. So yes, in my opinion, 100 Acre Wood is part of the world order.
I still considered 100 Acre Wood as a subworld rather than a fully fledged world If you ask me.
Also let's not forget we also got three missing Keyblade forms left with one in the
Guardian
,Magic
andSpeed
form respectively. I'm expecting one of them would be for the original world while the other Two would be for the final two Disney worlds in the Middle and last set.They didn't delay it because of development, it was delayed to accommodate a worldwide release

Nomura said that 2.8 was delayed because of "other games" releasing too close to it, which people generally took to be referring to FFXV since its delay was only announced after XV's was. In 3's case it's harder to tell, but his comments there made me think they might be referring to the release date being too close to the Christmas holidays for it to do well in Western markets.

I wasn't cutting your idea down, but we don't know that we'll be getting three keyblades per category. What about the Knight form? Wasn't that what they originally called the red transformation? Have we seen three form changes that give him a red outfit? Two for yellow so far and I don't think we've seen the Pirates keyblade used in any other world. I would like to know the specs on these new drive forms and their official names. Guardian and Drive are apparently set for the Yellow and Blue transformations, but what about Green and Red?

The attacks are all focused on water, so it could be considered magic because of that, though it's more likely Power. You're still assuming that there's 3 for each too though. For all we know there could be another form type. Ultima Weapon probably won't fit in any of those categories, and there's still a few keyblades we don't know what they'll do. Based on the PS4 and Xbox variant Star Seekers, it is returning. It might be a Drive form keyblade. Stardust is so plain looking in the level 1 form and for all we know it could do a form change that makes it look like a maxed out Stardust and gives Sora unique powers.

Ah, good I never noticed that! Does that mean it turns green when he used Nano Gear? or can you not see him well enough? I'll have to go back and pay attention to that. :D
