Kingdom Hearts 3's Critical Mode will be arriving tomorrow!

Kingdom Hearts series director Tetsuya Nomura has just posted on Twitter that Kingdom Hearts 3's long-awaited Critical Mode will be arriving tomorrow in a free update!
In an interview with Gamereactor, Kingdom Hearts 3 co-director Tai Yasue discussed how Critical Mode will be adding new abilities and also modifying AI behaviors to give players a new, engaging experience with Kingdom Hearts 3.
"So like I mentioned earlier, we adjusted a lot of the gameplay and we set out to create a new experience. Like creating new abilities for example. They are sort of oriented towards the technical side so people good at action games and know the exact timing on when to guard or do a counter, abilities are targeted toward that sort of gameplay."

I LITERALLY just jumped back into FFXIV since it is free for awhile and was blazing through the base story AND NOW THIS HAPPENS?
It was nice to play FFXIV for two days, I guess...
I'm so excited even though I'm waiting for the future DLC to play it again, especially because I have yet to finish my level 1 run.

Haha, I’ve played the trilogy before on iOS and 3DS but the third case is one I have not played a lot of so it's nice to revisit and relive it. And trophies are a fantastic incentive to do so.
Now, how about trophies for Critical Mode please Tai Yasue.
I’m almost finished with my second run of a level 1 proud playthrough (which is actually really fun as long as you make use of Keyblade upgrades and food). I’m really exited to see what kind of changes were made.
I finished my first play through (normal mode) like 2 days ago and was nearly starting proud mode. Well, now I won’t touch proud mode. :D

We don't know. It's coming sometime on the 24th in Japan, which is just over 21 hours away and the two should drop around the same time.
But all we have to go off is "tomorrow".

They didn’t specify a time because PSN and Microsoft don’t have set times to update their store (at least PlayStation is like that) so they will go up whenever they go up.
We will let people know when they are available on each store, though.

Well, if it was something that was delivered via the store and not a patch, I would confidently say "at midnight in your local region excluding the United States because they withhold updating their store until like 9 hours after midnight on the West side of the country."
...... Now I wish this was an update from the PSN because that would mean I can set it up to download while I'm at work (though I can't play because I was stupid and got a ticket to see Endgame at 12pm tomorrow (and spoil y'all while I'm at it hehehe))
I respect Square Enix genuinely taking their time to fine-tune this critical mode. I wonder which bosses are going to have the most significant shift in difficulty?
I hope this will be genuinely challenging.

Trophies sound cool. If possible, I'd like for them to keep up the chess-themed trophies and use them for something more than just "defeat x Heartless".
"King" might not be a bad trophy for either finishing on Crit or whatever the definitive DLC might be.

You'd think that but now people are saying they're don't believe a proper Critical Mode update could have been accomplished in such a "short" amount of time (since they're all ignoring that KH3 went gold in November and this has been in the works for like 6 months). There's no pleasing them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That being said, I have confidence in the team and everything they've said shows that they've really taken a lot of care and listened to all of the criticism. Whether this will materialize into something that satisfies everyone remains to be seen of course, as we all have different levels of expectations, but I think it'll be very well done :)

No, they were focused on getting Critical Mode ready for fans first and foremost. There are plenty of opportunities for them to reveal their plans for the paid content later this year. KH Orchestra, E3, and TGS to name a few.
This is a very nice surprise! I wasn't expecting Critical mode to be released so soon! Even if it's just a little more difficult than Proud mode, I will be very satisfied. The fact that they even took the time to release this extra mode for us shows their dedication to the game and wanting to get things right. I understand some of the complaints people have with Kingdom Hearts III, but I felt very satisfied with the game overall. Despite the easiness of the game, I actually felt like the gameplay was overall better than any other Kingdom Hearts game before it. The scale of the game is absolutely massive compared to other Kingdom Hearts games, and almost every aspect of the gameplay just flowed so smoothly and well. For me, it was really fun and entertaining. And now that critical mode is coming, assuming it is more difficult, I'm curious to see how the potential difficulty adds to the game.

Great news. I dont play games on critical mode (I am a filthy casual) but I wish everyone that waited for it much fun. :)

And I'd be hard-pressed to think how to make Skoll suck less without some pretty drastic changes that have little to do with Critical Mode.

Happy that people who want this are getting this. For me, normal mode was frustrating enough, so I'll stay far away from this.
I hope they will make an update where u can skip all the cutscenes in the game. As of right now, its getting annoying to skip 3-4 scenes consecutively

It’s not that he isn’t playable (he’s one of the better bosses of the game), but rather that boss is more scripted than the others of this game. Introduce a hard mode and how do you make it so that fight is challenging, fair, and doesn’t mess up the parts that are heavily scripted.

Welp, Guess I know what I'm doing over summer break, Though If any of you think i'm going through the nonsense of arendelle again you're dead wrong. While I have made it my mission to beat every KH game on the hardest difficulty, I see no point in 100%ing it ALL OVER AGAIN on critical. If there's a trophy requiring 100% completion on critical mode, I'll just explode with rage.

I was thinking about it and would this really be an awful thing?
You’d still get munny but a big difference between 0.2 and 3 is you have two-four team mates that can heal you (and you still have the MP recharge trick if you want more MP). You can also buy items rather than having a maximum you can pick up.
The worst thing would be if you spam shotlocks, but you can map a shortcut to a focus gauge refilled in that event.
Maybe then people would be satisfied with KH3...
Who am I kidding? Even when Crit mode & DLCs come out, I can still imagine half the fandom still unsatisfied. Too far gone to make anyone happy at this point.
