Square Enix has revealed a brand new KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Aqua Play Arts Kai figure from the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany!

This'll be the first one of these I buy. Been thinking bout buying KH3 Sora also but an Aqua one is a must have for me.
After processing the title, my initial instinct was to place my hand over my chest and just inhale, like so:

On the card it says "Release: Ju-" is that "June/July 2017" cause I'm about to start fanning myself with my hand which I know doesn't do anything but it makes me feel better.

Play Arts had KH2 Kairi, but Play Arts Kai so far has only consisted of 3 characters: Sora, Riku, and Roxas. So to answer your question, technically yes.
Finally a Playarts figure that isn't Sora, hallelujah!

I don't trust amazon germany enough to handle something like this. Toys R Us might be if it's a big enough one, although I would rule out Media Markt. SE shop might be, although I can already see myself get 10 copies and send them to my friends throughout germany...

If they don't sell it in person, you can probably get an equivalent deal on reputable site's like Amiami. For example, KH3 Sora PAK is $150 on SENA's Online Store, on Amiami it's $135. Shipping is about $15-20, so it'd be roughly the same price, but you can order it from your home.
SE tends to only make each figure for the a limited time (the year its released), and based on how demanded and scarce current Aqua merchandise is, I really don't foresee this figure lasting long on anywhere.

It is interesting that they skipped past the usual prototype reveal (where they just have the greyscale mold on display) and she's already fully colored and ready for retail. I believe she'll arrive sooner than we expect, especially with that "Release: Ju-" card that hopefully more people will get photos of soon.

I kinda hope the retail version will get the hair just a biiiit fixed, because to me, it doesn't really look finished honestly. Other than that, yeah, I wondered why there is no prototype reveal first, either. They probably didn't want to reveal it before 2.8 releases and now that it's probably gonna release in roughly half a year, it's a bit late for a prototype-showcasing.

When I saw this I gasped so weirdly and loudly that made my sister ask if I am okay. :D Dam, that looks really nice. I am not sure if I have the money to get it or if they will even sell it in the region where I live, but I am interested in getting this.

People who just want the game wouldn't have bought an expensive limited edition (and lets be honest, with the PAK included, it surely would've cost 150$+) and those who want such a PAK will buy it anyways. June-August has the E3 and the gamescom at least, two opportunities to sell such a PAK and I'm sure it'll be sold out eventualy anyways, so I'd say it's good they didn't make it earlier.

Previous Kingdom Hearts PAKs came with two Keyblades like the Kingdom Hearts 3D ones. It is very possible she will come with Eraqus' Keyblade.

I'm not a collector so I'll probs pass on this one, but wow, it's looking gooood. When I saw it, the first thing I thought was "it's like someone pulled her straight from the game."
The announcement of an Aqua PAK makes me cry. This is what we really wanted from them and they did it. I thank the development team everyday for creating such a powerful and beautiful female character.
Now I just need Xion, Skuld, Ava, and Invi then I can have all 6 female wielders in the series.

I was planning on getting the KH3 Sora PAK at some point this year, but this may have to take priority because I've been dreaming of TAV figures since BBS was first announced back in like 2007, or whenever it was. 10 years later, we finally get an Aqua figure.

Square Enix apparently uploaded this picture to their Facebook page. It confirms the July release date.
$120-$150 is so much money for these things, and I usually think they are way too overpriced for the quality, but I am probably still going to have to get her. She is so gorgeous, and more Aqua (BBS merch in general really) is something almost all of us have been asking for.

Oh yeah, KH2 Sora's PAK was a little "bug-eyed" but they actually made improvements to his face with the Limit and then even more to the Final Forms figures, which makes them not just "variants." Of course these figures are always aiming for their perfect recreations, but like wax figures, it's not 100% feasible.

The more I think about this, the more I think this figure just wasn't ready. To start, SE is no stranger to including PAK with their LEs (Limit Form Sora in KH2.5 in JP, Noctis in FFXV LE global, Lara Croft in Tomb Raider LE global). Second, KH's limited editions have, historically, done extremely well. Not only did both 3D and 2.5 LEs sell out before release, but both were going for crazy $200+ pricetags on release.T
They retailed for ~$100, so making a $200 more exclusive and limited edition with this would have done very well what with the Aqua-fan club being very present in the KH community. Of course, like Limit Form Sora, Noctis, and Lara, she would have been sold separately.
Plus, having this figure would have only further increased advertisements for KH2.8, which would have increase advertisements for the figure itself.
That being said, for whatever reason they chose to show her now, she's here, and I am very ready.

Either way, she may very well be sold at the World Orchestra concerts as well as conventions for those who are attending and interested.
Also what's interesting is that, from photos, it doesn't appear as if Aqua will be coming with many added parts (keyblades, faces, etc.). They tend to showcase all pieces with the figures, and given she's practically ready for retail, it doesn't appear anything will come with her (probably hands to hold they keyblade or not).

That's true. A global release date would be incredible so we can get her without having to wait a few months or without paying import fees to get her at the same time Japan does.

I'm sure SE realizes that, with-or-without Master's Defender or any other add-ons, the demand for an Aqua PAK is strong. They could withhold that keyblade for either another figure or an accessory set (like the old Play Arts Arms Keyblade Set).
Normally we would combat something like this (if this is the case) by boycotting the figure, but seeing as there is no way I will entertain the notion of not having 1 or more of this figure in my collection, they've won. I realize I'm part of the problem but
Glad to see they made someone other than Sora, but I'd really like and Axel/Lea figure to go with my Roxas. Preferably with his keyblade and chakrams.

She is definitely a prototype. There are a lot of paint errors and rough bits around the joints.

My brother is currently there as a press attendee and, beyond getting to see the Aqua PAK in-person (photos below), he was told by a SENA staffer that, I'm paraphrasing: "SE hears the fan's requests for a Terra and Ventus Play Arts Kai and they may be coming soon." Of course this remains speculative because it's not an official announcement, but it is a very good sign of what's to come.

I really hope this comes to fruition. Visually, TAV is my favorite trio. I love their designs, their pauldrons, and they haven't been done to death like some of the other characters. I would like to hope that Aqua (sales) might be the breakthrough we need to secure the other two. Though, I'm setting my sights low and expecting nothing for my heart's sake~
You know what would be great? A Terra figure with an alternate TerraNort head, and Master Xehanort's keyblade. Two characters for the price of one! Maybe not so likely, but it'd still be pretty awesome. I have yet to buy any of the figures, but I have had my eye on Org. Roxas for quite some time.

I don't know, but out of the two identical looking faces in the series I'd just go with Roxas honestly :P It was a long time coming for him to get an organization coat figure honestly, and Ventus isn't nearly as popular a character as Aqua or Sora, or Riku are, you know? But I agree that I have no qualms with more Play Arts Kai figurines being made, especially if they're the Birth by Sleep characters :) Honestly, all I need is my Vanitas and Eraqus figures and I'd be the happiest Kingdom Hearts fan alive :D

Agreed! While I really like Eraqus' Keyblade's design, I love Aqua's Keyblades a lot more. I also remember there being 2 extra Keyblades for the DDD PAKs, so there's hope!

After thinking about it I could probably name a dozen at least on this forum alone, not even counting the whole outside fanbase.
There exists a Ventus-fanclub in the fanclub section actually, but the user who founded it isn't active anymore as far as I can tell, there was even a first version of it that is a whopping 90 pages long:

The new version of the club is even still on page 2 in the fanclub section, yet the activity in that section has been in a constant decline anyways and the founder of the second one also isn't really active anymore:

Roxas is certainly more well-known to the wider fanbase including the casuals due to being in one of the numbered big console games (Ventus' appearances outside of Birth by Sleep are so far nothing more than mere cameos, in 0.2 he doesn't even have a single line while in DDD his one spoken line is one of the three questions towards Riku in the finale), but that doesn't mean Ven hasn't got his own share of fans and admirers when one looks at fanworks/-arts around the net.
True, when looking at Sora and Aqua those two might be universally more popular, but I would be cautious with saying the same about Riku since I remember he's only so massively popular in the western fanbase, in the japanese and more eastern fanbase he isn't even among the top five (those being Sora, Roxas, Axel, Aqua, Terra with both Ventus and Kairi coming behind Terra although I don't remember who's 6th and who 7th).
If I had the money, I would definitely buy a Ventus figure. :D

Luckily Ven shares the same face as Roxas so they mostly just need to worry about the body/clothes and Keyblade. But hopefully they will make Terra and Ven in the future.

Not that I don't like Rainfell, I actually prefer it's design to Master's Defender, but it would have felt more logical to give her the keyblade that she's currently using. I don't want to sound spoiled, but it really needs to be released with Master's Defender. The damn thing's being released as "0.2" Aqua and it's self explanatory why that keyblade is so important.

Yeah, I need this....this and those 3 stands are coming out near my birthday (like a month off), I am going to see if people will gift them to me or like gift me the money for them all at least lol. This is the first time in, well, a year I will be getting KH merch. But the first time in a while I want so many at once :P
Its been so many Sora, Roxas, and Riku figures the past few years that look quite nice, but I already have figures of all of them, so its not the same excitement or need level lol.
I love the work on them but I don't have the money to get them. I guess I'll always just stare at them from a distance.
