KINGDOM HEARTS Union X updated with 5 new story quests (No. 896~900).

(Calhoun and the space marines make their way back to the launch bay, when suddenly they hear someone approaching. They raise their guns in anticipation. However, the presence is none other than Felix, who has left his game in search of Ralph. His footsteps alert them to his presence and they open fire.)
Felix: Waahh!
(Felix dodges the bullets as best as he can, but ultimately gets knocked down by Calhoun. She points her gun in his face to threaten him.)
Calhoun: Slick tiddly-winking, pint-size.
Felix: I’m Fix-It Felix Jr., ma’am, from the game Fix-It Felix, Jr.
(He stops, setting aside his fear and is instantly smitten with Calhoun.)
Felix: Jiminy-jaminy....
Look at that high definition.
Your face; it’s amazing!
Calhoun: Another civilian...
State your business.
Felix: Oh. I’m looking for my colleague, Wreck-It Ralph.
Calhoun: Never heard of him.
(Meanwhile, Ralph arrives at the Cy-Bugs’ nest, where the hero’s medal is kept. He eagerly claims it.)
Ralph: Yes! A medal! Now I'm a hero.
(He walks away, victorious, but accidentally steps on a Cy-Bug egg, causing it to hatch. The newborn Cy-Bug quickly latches onto his face. Ralph clumsily stumbles every which way, trying to get the creature off as he knocks over more eggs and causes even more Cy-Bugs to hatch. At this point, Player and Chirithy arrive.)
Chirithy: There's Ralph!
(Ralph, with the Cy-Bug still attached to his face, stumbles into an escape pod and gets launched out of the tower.)
Chirithy: He's gone…
(They carefully step over the eggs and make their way over to get a closer look, but are quickly swarmed by the newly-hatched Cy-Bugs.)
Chirithy: Wah! We don't have time for this!
(The Cy-Bugs push Player and Chirithy further and further back, cutting off their escape. But all of a sudden, Ephemera arrives to help them.)
Ephemera: Are you okay? Player.
Chirithy: Ephemera, what are you doing here?
Ephemera: I was chasing that.
(Player looks over to see the Darkling, frolicking among the Cy-Bug eggs.)
Ephemera: But I guess I can thank it for leading me back to you, Player.
You'll help me fight, right?
(Player nods in agreement.)
Chirithy: I feel much better with you here, Ephemera.
The rest is up to you!
(Chirithy leaves.)
Ephemera: Okay, let's go!
(Player and Ephemera defeat the Cy-Bugs and turn their attention towards the Darkling. They beat it back and push it towards a dead end.)
Darkling: Y o u a r e d i f f e r e n t…
Ephemera: This again? Who are you even talking about?
(Suddenly, a Cy-Bug appears over the Darkling and devours it! It mutates, taking on the Darkling's features.)
Cy-Bug: Y o u a r e…
Ephemera: They fused?
(The Cy-Bug flies out of the tower.)
Ephemera: Oh no! It looks like the Darkling fused with that Cy-Bug monster from this world.
We can't let that thing get away.
Let's go after it!

Aren't all heartless? Not like Cy-bugs care either way. Heck of a way to put over Disney enemies as a major threat.

Yeah, but they are rather single-minded and solely obsessed by their desire to consume hearts. Darklings can speak and are more intelligent. It’s a bit more creepy imo

I have to admit I think the CyBugs fusing with the Darklings is a really cool development. I think KH is at its best when it effectively merges the Disney and original lore. This is a very literal and somewhat unnerving representation of that. I still would have preferred to see this happen in a console game, but beggars can’t be choosers.
I haven’t been watching the UX story videos since the beginning of the WIR world, because I thought they were filler. But now it does not seem like a filler to me when they are using Darklings. So could anyone who’s Been catching up with the story tell me if it’s a filler or if it’s important to the lore?
I thought that the Daybreak Town/Original world cutscenes were the only important ones in X/UX..

For the most part, you're correct. All of the past Disney worlds were fillers copy/pasted directly from the films. WIR is the outlier in that it was influencing the main story, which is what led the Player and Ephemer to investigate it in the first place. The bulk of this world so far has also been filler; what happened with the Cy-Bug is the first time it's veered back to relevancy since our arrival, so it's too early to say if we'll continue down this path or if we'll be derailed again.

I'm not sure if the rest of you saw Wreck It Ralph in the theater like I did, but this echos something that's going to happen later in the movie. (Don't click the spoiler tag if you haven't watched it!) [SPOILER]The main villain of the movie gets eaten by a Cy-Bug..and later destroyed, as in bug zapped. Maybe that Cy-bug is going to get bug-zapped then too.[/SPOILER]
Not sure what is going to happen with that Cy-Bug, (I did theorize behind the spoiler tag) but we'll see.
I'm in the wagon that thinks that the Darkling fusing with the CyBug is just the start of what may be part of a full lore of Darklings being able to fuse with anything. This honestly got me thinking about Vanitas and Ven to a degree. Ven on his own doesn’t seem like he has much inner darkness in the UX era, yet by time Xehanort finds him in the future, he has enough darkness in his heart that it catches Xehanort attention, which in turn motivates him to train Ven and then eventually split his heart.

Interesting! Maybe a Darkling resided inside Ventus, and after being exposed to Ven's and Sora's light, he attained a new sense of self? Maybe the next Saga will focus on bringing back "Darkling-fied" Wielders?
Also, a Darkling fusing with someone could be a way to time/space travel?
Another thought: what if the MoM is either an intelligent Darkling, or a half-human/half-Darkling entity, and he has always been among us, but hiding while fused with someone?

Makes you wonder if Dark Chirity is the Chirity's former owner living-on through their Chirity as a Darkling possessing it.
Also: if the MoM is a Darkling, he can technically be anyone and remain inside his hood.
