KHInsider #OffTheChain, our exclusive interview series where we talk off the cuff with people involved with Kingdom Hearts, continues this month with your most requested guest, the Master of Masters himself—Ray Chase! Some of you will also know Ray Chase for his roles in recent Square Enix games as Noctis in Final Fantasy XV, Eve in NieR: Automata, and Edgar in World of Final Fantasy.

As always, we will take the time to ask the questions you want to know, so leave them in a comment below! Please keep in mind that there are certain things that cannot be answered, such as questions relating to future or ongoing projects and more intricate details about the characters and lore of the series.

Any questions about Ray's work outside of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue including his roles in various shows, cartoons, anime and games are also on the table! We will be interviewing him this week on Thursday, so get those questions in as soon as possible!

Follow Kingdom Hearts Insider on FacebookTwitter, and Tumblr for the latest updates on Kingdom Hearts Unchained X, Kingdom Hearts 3, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX and all things Kingdom Hearts

"Hey Ray! I'd love to know which character did you enjoy dubbing the most: Noctis (FFXV), MoM (2.8 Back Cover) or Eve (NieR Automata). Thanks!"

Hi Ray! My question is If Noct and the Master of Masters were on a road trip, how do you think Noct and The Master of Masters will react to each other? Noct is more lazy while the Master is more excited. "May your heart be your Galdin Quay" trust me, he will understand this quote.

This is great!

I have a few ideas:

- What does he think about the Master of Masters? Just the character in general.
- What was it like voicing the MoM? (Maybe also, how did it differ from voicing Noctis?)
- Would he like to voice Noctis again in a Kingdom Hearts game?
- I don't know if he voiced a video game character before, but what was it like voicing a video game character? Did he learn anything new?

That's about it

We'd need Max Mittelman to be there as well, though.

he did the voices of Jason Blood and Etrigan the Demon for Justice League Dark so my question is how was it keeping those two voices distinct?

Questions for Ray Chase::: How did you get to work for Square-Enix as you have; networking, connections? And, how do you prepare for a role with a character with no facial expressions, the Master of Masters? Also, do you have a favorite Square game to play? Thanks!

- Did you had to do some preparations to better "understand" how to voice the MoM?
- What was the most memorable line for the MoM that he had to do?
- How was voicing so many different characters in such a short span of time?

First, I had no idea you existed until Final Fantasy XV, then I came to find that you've been in SO MANY things I love! So a thank you is in order from your old and new fans <3

My question is about your work on The Master in Kingdom Hearts 2.8. Let me start off that I literally laugh out loud whenever I hear "You think that's gross do ya?!". You had me laughing in light of a rather serious situation. I'm curious how much you can tell us about The Master's motivations. He is an eccentric character, but that leads to him staying ambiguous, perhaps intentionally. Some people have trouble deciphering if he is being benevolent or malevolent. Is his sarcasm and frankness him coping with a dark situation where no one wins, or is he being nefarious? Or is this ambiguity intentional?

Thank you so much for your work! Can't wait to hear from you in the future.

All the good questions have been taken, so...

Hey, Ray! What's it like getting asked all these questions by rabid Kingdom Hearts fans?

More questions!

The video game and even TV series voice casting "circle" so to speak is actually kind of small when you think about it! Is there anyone in particular you like to work with the most?

For someone new who may be interesting in voice acting, what would you suggest is a good place to start? How was your first start into voice acting and how has the industry changed over time in your opinion?

How do you feel about the strikes that went on, if you're able to comment on them. Are there any particularly bad experiences that stick out to you? What would you like to see change in the industry?

Thanks again!

The MoM seems like a character with motivations and plans for the future that he doesn't let on about. When Alan Rickman was portraying Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, JK Rowling told him a few secrets about the character so he could better portray him on screen. So my question to you is, did Square tell you any secrets or future reveals about the character in order for you to better portray him? To be clear, I'm not asking him to tell us anything about the character, I'm asking if he knows, and if that helped him better portray the character. Also, are you a KH fan?

Hey Ray, two questions:

one what was your experience with the series prior to voicing the master of masters. A

And two what was the recording process like.

Square kept Ray very much in the dark about a lot of that, so please don't expect an answer on anything like that.

Here's my question to Ray Chase that has no "non-disclosure agreement" barrier.

What video game franchise would you love to do voice over work for in the future?
