I'd take a retelling if it meant an awesomely animated Xemnas fight. Like if this is real and they go for an anime style, imagine if they get a damn good studio.

You think the new Disney Studios lead could bet on videogames adaptations like Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy or Fortnite after the success of Super Mario Bros, The Last Of Us, Twisted Metal, Uncharted, Free Guy, Sonic, etc??
Well, to get one thing out the way, Disney is developing an animated Kingdom Hearts movie. While years back I had heard the idea was to do something on Disney+, more recently I have heard the goal would be big screen adaptation, but as of now, these are just rumblings and nothing has been greenlit. Disney may have more of an interest on actual gaming instead of developing movies based on video games… Prince of Persia and Need For Speed were both duds for Disney.
"Disney is developing a KH movie"
"There are just rumblings and nothing has been greenlit"
These statements contradict each other ffs
Don't friggin say "Oh they're doing this" and then saying "there are just rumblings" as if you heard it around the water cooler.
Just like that tweet saying "Disney is REPORTEDLY doing this" when all you have is some guy saying "I hear they're doing this" with no proof or anything to back it up.
AND DON'T SAY "they're doing this" AND THEN GO "ehhh they're more interested in actual gaming instead of making adaptations".
We'll probably all be back here in like three years and it'll still be "I hear they're doing something"
Also is DisInsider even reputable
Cuz from what I've searched...they don't seem to be.
A movie adaptation having a whole separate cast would actually be a bad way to goI highly, HIGHLY doubt a KH movie will be an actual adaptation. It’ll more than likely be a very loose adaptation like Marvel films are to their source material/like how Mario was to the games, or (and frankly I do think this is far more likely) it’ll be a brand new narrative with a brand new cast or simply borrowing the cast and disregarding the games.
As much as I am a fan of the series/certain games’ stories, none of them really work for a film adaptation. So I’d definitely welcome something new or a loose adaptation.
If I wanted a 1:1, I’d just play the games or do Theater Mode.
The only way a KH movie will bang is if it rides the wave of (lame and generic) crossover/multiverse movies that are all the rage right now. Classic characters like Aladdin, Jack Skellington, Ariel, Hercules all coming together in the same movie to fight bad guys is all it'd take. An extreme de-emphasis of the KH trappings will also be necessary. Only Sora and the Heartless would likely remain. I don't even see Riku and Kairi being part of it.I just don't know that the market's there for a movie? 2024 KH isn't in the gaming zeitgeist the way 2006 FF7 was. Am I wrong on this? I just don't feel KH is in the conversation enough to justify a movie that presupposes an audience familiar with the source material.
It ultimately depends on how this is bein' handled, Launch. The only way a KH movie will bang is if it rides the wave of (lame and generic) crossover/multiverse movies that are all the rage right now. You'd all hate it for betraying the franchise, I'd find it boring, and it'd make bank
I've said it in my previous post but it wouldn't be breaking the rules if Sora uses summons. Like Simba, Genie, Stitch and Mushu are all aware of other worlds. The only way a KH movie will bang is if it rides the wave of (lame and generic) crossover/multiverse movies that are all the rage right now.
