On Monday the 11th of June 2018, Square Enix will be hosting a very special E3 showcase. Square Enix last held an E3 showcase in 2015, where Tangled was announced to be a world in Kingdom Hearts 3.
Details are scarce on what games Square Enix will show off, but chances are high that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a major focal point alongside Shadow of the Tomb Raider and The Avengers Project (tentative title).

I think we’ll see release dates for both KH3 (unless revealed at the Orchestra) and Left Alive plus new trailers from Tomb Raider and DQXI with more teasers of FFVII and Avengers Project (possible title reveal?)

They could still do the full reveal for KH3 at the Sony event. But this would be more neutral ground since they want to advertise it for Xbox One as well.

Of course they care. Microsoft's stance on marketing their games, at least their JRPG's, is "step in during the final few months and have something about it on stage at one of our conferences".
Apart from the reveal, marketing so far has been pretty neutral and a SE conference lets them show games for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Because of this, however, my expectations of KH3 being at the Microsoft conference has dropped since they might want to hold this back for their own conference if they wanted to continue to have it be neutral?
IDK, Square don't have conferences that often to judge patterns on what they might do. FFVIIR was revealed at the Sony conference and then the trailer was repeated at the SE conference the next day while KH3 was held back from both conferences until the Square Enix one, but Sony seem to have cut a deal with Square for that game :/

I’m almost 100% certain. Square Enix hasn’t marketed that game at all in the west either. Yeah, i is probably better for them to let Nintendo handle those games.

They’ve had closed-door showcases at E3 before. Their first streamed one was definitely awkward, though. I remember people were so confused by Yoko Taro. I just cried because praise that crazy man.

I can't be the only one getting flashbacks to 2015 right? That was such a good year imo. I was excited for this year just for KH3 alone, but this image reminded me that there is going to be so much more than that. I can't wait!!!

Yeah I agree. I mean I am excited regardless, but seeing it live during the Sony conference would have been incredible. I love watching videos of the audience's reaction to the game's announcement back in 2013, and I would have loved for something like that to have happened again.

Their 2015 conference was about 1.5 hours, so I'm expecting about that length, no less than 1 hour.

Square. This is one of their biggest game releases this year and they need to get consumers aware that it is coming out in the next six months. Sony would be fine without it since they have other diverse games to show off, but there’s nothing harming Square from making the decision to have the trailer with release date repeated at another conference.
I’m wondering what kind of updates Square Enix will give at their FY2018 results briefing. I noticed that it has been held between May 11-14th for the last several years, which means it is probably happening this week. In the past two of these meetings in November and last May, they did Q&As that provided some interesting little tidbits, including that we’d get release date announcements between April and E3 for the games coming out this year. It’ll be interesting to see if anything comes out of this one. But they usually don’t publish the Q&A for another couple weeks. Last year’s was published on May 26th.
This is exciting news, going to be waiting on the July release announcement from them...hopefully.

Too early? This is about the time that all of the big studios announce their date and time for their individual conferences. Would you have preferred it late and people would have already made plans and missed the stream?

What does being a content reporter have to do with this? People need to make plans for their personal lives in advance. The showcase is going live at 10:00am on a Monday; for those who are working and would otherwise miss the livestream, PTO would need to be requested ahead of time.

There is a reason why these companies always announce this stuff weeks in advance. Aside from generating hype and excitement, it's also so people can make their E3 plans in advance, like Sign and Spockanort have pointed out. That live stream is going to go live during some of E3's other festivities, so some people are going to want to adjust their schedule accordingly.

Can waiting be tedious? Absolutely! But it's important that they announce this stuff early, and i'd rather them do that then announce it mere days before it happens. Not to mention that you were going to be waiting regardless of what they did or didn't announce, so why does this really change anything?

Yes, it was, although SE announced their plans before Nintendo did. They ended up pushing it 1 hour back, which was for the better so everyone could cheer up after that weird puppet show.

I’m glad we found out about the live stream now. I gave up all hope when they didn’t announce it in April, but now I’ve been able to plan around the conference. If they dropped this info mere days before the 10th then it would have been a struggle to plan around it. Meanwhile other people are in different positions and would need to actually request time off so they can do it well in advance.
Plus it helps that we have a month of discussing it and being able to spread news about the conference, letting as many people know it is happening and theorising what they could show. I’m interested in seeing Life is Strange 2 and I know Tomb Raider will have a trailer there so I’ll be happy with the livestream before KH3 even shows up.

I’m only using the vernacular used so don’t trip out like you tend to, but you were definitely talking out of your ass. (Here and Reddit and people have called you out there, too) Why would it not have a direct E3 presence when it is one of SE’s biggest upcoming titles? Why would it not be there when SE’s booth is like double the size it was last year or the year before? It’s not for Shadow of the Tomb Raider, that’s for sure.

It would be pretty cool if they had key staff introduce their projects. I have a feeling they will have a mix of having introductions followed by a trailer, then that would be followed by a trailer for another game then a small staff message after.

Tbh I hope they show something good and exciting, but not a lot. We don't need a long trailer; they've been nailing it up to this point with trailer content.

I don't think in all the years of watching these conferences I've seen one go over 2 - 2 /12 hours. And that's from a first party, i.e. Sony. Square's showcase will prolly run 1 to 1 1/2 hours tops.

1-2 hours is the average length of a presentation. They would have planned what they will show and for how long by this point.

I feel like they have shown enough Spiderman as I already want it a lot and I don't want to see a crazy amount of it, but I really have wanted to see Ghosts of Tsushima more. And obviously I am interested in Last of Us, but I suck and still haven't played the first one haha. But yeah, I guess if you aren't as into any of those games?

...Kingdom Hearts III is a third party game.
I'm on the boat that thinks that the World Ends With You 2 will happen. They have a running engine on the Switch. I'm of the opinion that Final Remix will serve as means to put TWEWY back on consumers' mind. It'll just be a matter of time.

There are always surprises at e3. Metroid Prime 4 was a surprise at Nintendo's e3, while the Final Fantasy VII Remake project was a surprise as well.
Just so we're clear guys expecting a hard look at KH3 during the E3 Sony conference was never gonna happen. For one because it's not a Sony exclusive. But it will have a presence there IMO at the panel. I firmly believe that will be where we get the release date.
I think we will get a KH3 trailer at the SE event and gameplay of BH6 but it won't show the release date, it'll say to watch the sony panel for the release date. And we'll also get Kairi and Axel in the E3 trailer plus a new world(Frozen).
When they say they have 4 exclusives that does not mean 20 minutes per showing. Usually it's about a 5 minute demo, maybe 8 tops. That's only half an hour of the hr or 90 minute presentation they do.

I haven't cried at a Kingdom Hearts game since I was 10 years old and I finished KH1, but I really hope that KH3 will get some sad emotions brewing inside of me.

Man I've aged since KH1. I've been playing since day one. I don't think the gargantuan gap between KH2 and KH3 (because all the games between, by my personal skewed standards, were not real KH games) did the series narrative any favors, having KH3 in the distance has been very exciting and interesting. Gosoxtim is right to be a bit curious about whether or not SE will be having the presents since it’s a chance for directors to talk about smaller details or reveal some more information that couldn’t be revealed before.
Edit: Gosoxtim, I wouldn’t worry if I were you. Last month SE were asking for questions for the Dissidia director for an “upcoming SE presentsâ€, which I don’t think they’ve held yet. And last year the schedule came out right before E3 began. They might be waiting off from confirming the SE Presents E3 2018 show until after they’ve revealed the new games at the conference :)

Yeah and we could also be getting content at the Orchestra and the Sony conference. If so, that would be about right I think. If this is the only big “reveal†moment for this event, they might dedicate more time to it. But I think KH will be all over the place.
Given Nomura's comment about the volume of information, I just can't see them debuting a single 5 minute trailer and calling it a day. If there's anything less than a concerted effort to provide new materials and tons of coverage, I'll be pretty sorely disappointed. This is the biggest global event between now and the end of the year... if ever there was a time to go crazy, it's now.

They never said that was all that they were showing, but those 4 games will be the focus. Definitely expect a surprise or two there. That being said I'm still inclined to say FFVIIR will show up at Square, but I wouldn't rule out sony either.

Is it just me that thinks revealing the opening at the orchestra would be odd, given that the opening will likely not be orchestrated like 3D was? I find the orchestrated version of Chikai to be a sure bet to be one of the additions to the setlist, however.

Keep in mind that whenever Square drops a new KH3 trailer, they always upload multiple versions for different languages/regions. Just because there were three videos doesn't necessarily equate to three separate trailers. I could be wrong, of course.

A more reputable source that lends us to believe that there will be information shown at the Orchestra, aside from the trailers privately uploaded to the KH YouTube channel, is the fact that Glacie (Union Cross community manager) hinted at something exciting happening in Union Cross on Sunday night. Given that the Orchestra takes place the day beforehand, and we know that Sora and Kairi's outfits are about to arrive in the game, it's possible that a trailer will be shown at the Orchestra which shows Kairi and then Sunday night will introduce the outfits into the game, along with perhaps some other content to celebrate the new trailer.

I expect Geoff is showing off the demo that people can play at E3. They did that when KH 2 came out, IGN and G4 TV showed off the demo on their shows.

I thought maybe we would get a small trailer at the concert before the big stuff is shown off during the Square Enix showcase, but seeing the private videos, the KH3 ads for Chikai, and the rumors of something coming to UX tomorrow has me almost shaking with excitement! We could even get a release date tonight and that's so crazy to think about!

Frozen's target audience is young girls, it won't interest many new potential players. The majority of the KH community would rather see Treasure Planet and Alantis too.
I actually want Jungle Book over those two. As it deserves to finally be a world in a Kingdom Hearts game.

Frozen has a fanbase outside of young girls though. It will draw in all kinds of people. Any there are plenty of KH fans demanding it in as well.
Keep in mind that whenever Square drops a new KH3 trailer, they always upload multiple versions for different languages/regions. Just because there were three videos doesn't necessarily equate to three separate trailers. I could be wrong, of course.

Yes, someone pointed out to me that all 3 videos were uploaded to the English playlist, which would imply that they are all separate videos. So that's pretty exciting to hear!

I mean sure but with the way they’ve structured the trailers, it would just be the same frozen trailer again with a couple different clips in it too. We haven’t been given any reason to suggest that wouldn’t be the case at this point. And this was their conference, if there was going to be a blow out it would have been here.
Yeah, I was expecting a lot more out of that. I did get really excited when I noticed Remy from Ratatouille! I had no idea he was gonna be in it and it came as a surprise!
They really shouldn't have shown a trailer during the Microsoft conference if this was all they had planned to show for e3. Imagine instead if today's trailer was the first we saw of it during e3. It might not have been perfect but it would have been a hell of a lot better than how they actually handled it.

Yeah it was a bit lame...cool to see that Nier is going on xbox, gonna convince a friend to play it. The KH trailer didn't really offer anything new than what we've already seen or heard, though it was nice to see Remy and the Twilight Town trio again.

That conference was virtually pointless, in my opinion. Microsoft stole the Frozen reveal hype, and aside from that, there wasn't much shown off here that required its own dedicated livestreamed conference. No Avengers, No FF7 Remake, KH3 trailer that showed some new scenes but mostly recycled footage from yesterday's trailer.
I don't expect we're getting a trailer at the Sony conference. I think this is it. We got the release date, we got Frozen, we got a ton of story cutscenes, we got a collector's edition. I think we're done for now. Probably gonna have to wait until Tokyo Game Show for the next batch of news.
