Update: Square Enix have confirmed the digital version will release worldwide on the same day. More details to follow.
The long awaited KINGDOM HEARTS III Original Soundtrack will release on November 11th, 2020 for 12,000 yen plus tax.! Consisting of 8 discs and a total of 160 songs, the soundtrack will include Utada Hikaru's theme songs and tracks from the following games:
- KINGDOM HEARTS III
- KINGDOM HEARTS III Re Mind [DLC]
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
- KINGDOM HEARTS Unchained χ
- KINGDOM HEARTS Union χ[Cross]
Preorder the soundtrack from the following retailers:
Square Enix e-STORE, Sony Music Shop, Amazon.co.jp, Tower Records, Yodobashi.com, HMV&BOOKs online, Rakuten Books
A campaign will also be held in mid-September, in which fans can enter a lottery to win autographs from composers Yoko Shimomura, Takeharu Ishimoto and Tsuyoshi Sekito. More details will be announced in the future.

I honestly wasn't expecting more than KHIII and Re Mind, but I'm so happy it's DDD, 0.2 and the χ series as well.

I mean a good chunk of the songs were just remixes outside of world themes and a few boss tracks. Not terrible of course but I would have appreciated a couple more original songs.

The digital version will release simultaneously worldwide.
However, if you'd like the physical version, you'll need to wait for import sites to set up their order pages and go through them. I imagine they'll start rolling out in the coming days. SE may also stock it in their overseas stores, but in that event, I don't think they'll be released until much after November 11th.

Look, I am not some KH3 loving person and KH3’s OST is not my favorite of the series, but KH3 is on a completely different level to the rest of the series. They composed unique songs for a ton of scenes. They took a cinematic approach to composing this game, and it created a more cohesive, unified product with a lot of callbacks.

This is a part of this game's ost that seems to go very unnoticed by people. I guess fans are used to have a theme repeat during certain scenes always exactly the same, but the way this game uses it's ost and character themes in different parts of the game elevates the ost of this game for me.

Yeah I don't know how people can say it was weak when you take this into account. And so help me, they've gotta include these cutscenes tracks in the OST. They're honestly some of my most anticipated. That theme from right before the final round against Xehanort? So epic--quite frankly more epic than the final battle score itself. The remix of Case of Foretellers for the Luxu reveal scene. All the many, many rearrangements of Another Side we heard for various cutscenes, especially the Xigbar 3/4 time version. To name a few.
Glad that it has Re: Mind too. Surprised that Unchained χ and Union χ[Cross] too though. Never played them but watched YouTubers that did to keep up.

UX has quite a few new tracks, primarily due to the inclusion of Wreck It Ralph which gave us 7 new songs. The X series also has 2 unique versions of Dearly Beloved.
Oh yeah! OST of KH3 that includes ReMind? So it'll have all the Data Organization themes and Yozora's theme? Bring it on. KH is alive and strong as ever with all the merch it's getting this year. This makes me so happy. LONG LIVE KINGDOM HEARTS!
I am looking forward to listening to a bunch of tracks from Re:MIND and 2.8 despite my feelings on vanilla KH3's OST.

KH3 OST is very strong - I love how cinematic it is - but I do agree that they kind of dropped the ball on the final MX boss track, which is not particularly good and is recycled for each of his phases *and* for both the 12 clones and final boss in base ReMind. IMO it fails to live up to the scale and intensity of the moment, especially compared with Oscurita di Xehanort (the Nort Court boss theme, which is an absolute banger).
But I'm being picky. Overall the OST is a triumph in how it arranges the enormous repertoire of themes from throughout the series. Really looking forward to this,
The curious thing is that, while many of us agree that the arrangement for the final MX battles fell flat, the people who like it REALLY like it. It's kind of fascinating.

The main criticism is against the inclusion of Rage Awakened, which is closely associated with Terra/Lingering Will. Many feel that it was inappropriate to use it for Sora vs Xehanort, and after having to sit through Sora inserting himself into everyone else's battle so he can save the day, patience was wearing thin. That's my take on it anyways, I'm sure others dislike the song for different reasons.
I do like how each phase of the battle adds a new layer to the song though. That's pretty neat.

Honestly I have no problem with the Destati and Rage Awakened refrains, those are the strongest parts of the piece and are indeed epic AF. The new melodies composed for it, however, don't seem to really go anywhere, and don't make much meaningful reference to existing motifs. It also seems to modulate (?? someone pls correct me if I'm wrong) from 2:08-2:30 to a brighter mode, which is kind of out of left field. Their choice of violin MIDI patch is also... not very good. In fact, does anyone know what percentage of tracks in this OST was recorded with live orchestration? Because this track is definitely not one of them.

Ishimoto apparently had the hardest time out of the three composers and took the longest to get songs approved. I'd imagine he was just kind of done by the end of it all lol
So I was able to order the soundtrack through a proxy site called Buyee it cost me 1400 yen which equaled out to $136.65 worth it in my opinion ??.

Yes! I'm so excited for this! The music of Kingdom Hearts has always been one of my favorite aspects of the games, so I'm super excited they're finally releasing the OST for not only Kingdom Hearts III, but a couple other entries as well! Here's hoping an iTunes release is possible sometime after November 11! I know that might be wishful thinking, but you never know!

Yeah it was lazy af, as the kids would say. Just slapped the Replica track and the Armor track together for the final fight, for the most part. Which also meant more Rage Awakened. But I see everyone's already commented on that again lol so I won't pile on. But yeah it made no musical sense. I'm trying to think of an analogy but the whole Terra/Xehanort situation doesn't lend itself to easy comparison.

Or at least by Kawamori. I'd say he earned it after melting our faces with Oscurita. Then again I shouldn't be too hasty, cause for all we know maybe he arranged the Forze dell Oscurita in ReMind, which imo was a little lacking after what we got against the 3 Norts.

I remember that one being rushed, finished towards the end near the game's completion. And it kind of showed she didn't have much time, since there wasn't much to it. Just took a small segment of Destati and looped it over and over, really.

I'm SO glad the 2.8 and UX tracks are included! I was hoping that maybe this was part of the reason why the OST had no release for a long while (since if they knew DLC was coming, they'd want to include the new tracks from it in III's OST, or maybe there would hypothetically be a track for UX we still haven't heard or something like that). The Daybreak Town tracks are some of my favourites in the whole series. I almost feel like I'm more excited for those than anything from III itself, haha. YES. I am a happy bunny.

The DDD soundtrack is several years old, and I don't think it's even sold anymore. At least not on the North American SE store.
Uh KH DDD's OST is also over 50 tracks, and I'll be pretty steamed if they waste almost a third of valuable real estate in this release, to the exclusion of new material, for stuff we already have.

The DDD soundtrack was only three discs, not even half of this OST's 8.
0.2 and the χ series together are probably enough for just one disc, if that.
Also I could be wrong, but I think "over 90 songs" from the OP is only half-correct
The text on the site is 90曲を超える本編のほか which I believe means "other than the over 90 songs in the original version [KHIII]" and then proceeding to list Utada, Re Mind, 2.8 and Uχ.
To back this up, the Kingdom Hearts Original Soundtrack Complete was 9 discs, totaling a massive 229 tracks.
90 tracks seems incredibly small for an 8-disc set.
I mean I can say that the KH3 rips on youtube I've listened to, the longest playlist, including pretty much every track from the game you could imagine, was also over 220 tracks. Of course a number of those were from previous games, which KH3 just happened to include, like Forze del Male or Lord of the Castle from 1.5. Others like cutscene cues could probably be combined into a single track or suites. And some sounded pretty close to duplicates, especially where ReMind revisited scenes. But that's still a huge difference from just 90.

I get that certain tracks are associated with certain characters and themes but the best thing from Kingdom Hearts has always been the new original music.

Having all new material wouldn't have really felt rewarding for Xehanort. It only works for Yozora because we've never met him before. Our ears know nothing about him, so the score isn't beholden to any established motifs....yet. We'll be hearing this theme again when we see him next, and then it won't be new anymore.
Anyway, even where you have mostly new material for a final boss, like One Winged Angel, you still incorporate bits of previous themes, like Sephiroth's theme, Those Chosen by the Planet.
Plus there were stretches of original material in The Key to All, if that's what it's called. Personally I didn't find them memorable.

Frankly nothing should be cut. I've never been down with that practice. Never understood the logic. If random youtubers can share everything, what excuse does the company have to withhold? And they certainly better not leave out any important stuff. (That's right FF7R I'm looking right at you)

Yes, like Cosmo Canyon, that epic choral Those Chosen by the Planet, the chapter 14 resolution scene themes, off the top of my head. So I'm a little concerned for KH3. If they plan to release subsequent albums, then of course the omissions are more understandable. But if they never do, then it just makes no sense.

I feel as though I’ve said this to you before in another topic many months ago (though it is hard to keep up with anything that happened in the Before), but everybody has opinions. It’s fine for people to have varying tastes on music. Music is a highly subjective subject, and nobody needs to be an expert on it to be able to speak on it.
Objectively one thing is certain and that is that this OST is leagues ahead of previous OSTs in terms of scope and direction.
Past that, everybody has their own feelings about the songs.

This is kindof how I feel about KHIII in general. There are definitely certain technical achievements that deserve to be lauded.
However, technical mumbo jumbo doesn't mean much when it comes to matters of the heart.
Even though III doesn't have my favorite soundtrack in the series, it's still one of my favorite parts of III.
And that Dearly Beloved that plays during the Kairi / Lea FMV slaps. Omg ♡
What are the chances for "Face My Fears (Orchestra Version)" to be released? They didn't use it in ReMIND, so there's only the orchestra version... which wasn't even released on the orchestra album.

I’m gonna say minimal unless they took the time to really finalize an arrangement. I definitely do not think the version played at the orchestra concert was even remotely up to snuff for the kind of quality they would want out of an arrangement. The Kaleidoscope Orchestra version is an infinitely better version.
That said, I doubt that this album has all of the tracks from KH3, so we can at least hope for a Plus album if they don’t have the orchestral version of Face My Fears.

Isn't it like 7 discs dedicated to KH3? The Disney worlds didn't have that many songs, so they can easily squeeze 2-3 worlds onto 1 disc, leaving plenty of room for the non-Disney songs on at least 3 or 4 discs. That should be enough for all the songs in KH3 and ReMIND (I think).

Does it really though? The most extensive playlist rip I've found for KH3 until now came in at around 220 tracks. Which is a lot obviously. But in that total you also find A) a number of recycled tracks from other games, which KH3 used, like 13th Dilemma, Lord of the Castle, Link to All -- they ain't gonna be in the OST, B) duplicate tracks from within KH3 itself, like for the Riku and Vanitas data battles, and possibly certain Remind cutscene tracks though I haven't listened closely to all of them, C) a number of cues that could honestly be combined into a single track, like all the Roxas or Xion cutscene material in the KG, or various snippets of Dive into the Heart.
I don't know how it'll all turn out when you do the math, but I think you could cut down the track listing for KH3 significantly.

The cutscene tunes I absolutely need need NEED are Breaking Xehanort's Dark Armor, Making our Mark on Fate, all the Org demise themes, Xigbar's from Olympus, and Kairi's from ReMind. At least, those are the unofficial names. Oh and the Epilogue track.
Chains 2 Bonds is the scenario where Terranort gets ready to drop the B A S S on SAV but the OnE BeHiNd (GUARDIAN) comes in clutch

Anyway, considering the Original Soundtrack Complete was only one disc larger and held well over 200 tracks, I can't imagine why they couldn't put all of KHIII in this OST.

I am being told that the game rip actually has duplicated tracks which I wasn’t aware of since I hadn’t listened to it at all. I only looked at the song count so I might be wrong

The song count number you saw is the same I saw so I thought they’d be cutting to get down to around 140-ish songs lol. We’ll see though ?
On top of that another number of cutscene tracks, mainly for Disney worlds, are really short. Like 20 seconds long. If anything gets cut I could see those being first--at least I'd hope so, before cutting anything more substantial.
