We learned 3 months ago at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo that a special message and bonus artwork by Series Director Tetsuya Nomura would be included within the limited edition preorder concept artbook in western territories. Since then, many have been speculating what this message and artwork could be. Could he be teasing an upcoming announcement? Sharing a piece of information never before released to the public? The theories and possibilities went on and on.
As it turns out, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMix has broken street date in European territories, and many players have already picked up both the game and artbook from their local retailers. Of them is Youtube user HamadAlshitari, who has uploaded a video of his unboxing, where he shows off the message and artwork. The artwork is a brand new sketch of our spiky-haired protagonist Sora, and the message, available in both English and Japanese within the book, reads as follows:
Over 10 years have passed since we released the first KINGDOM HEARTS game. My only regret was never releasing KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX overseas, so I am very pleased to now give fans everywhere a chance to play it this time in its best format - full High-Definition.
Revisiting the first game, I don't think it feels like it a 10 year old game, despite some unrefined elements. Everything was a new experience for me back then. It was extremely challenging to create a completely new game system and series. However, I think KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX still feels like a new game because the passion of our creative efforts are still felt in the game itself to this day.
The KINGDOM HEARTS series would not have lasted this long without the incredible support from you, the fans. In response to your passion towards the KINGDOM HEARTS series, I will continue to create something you can all enjoy playing for the next several decades.

It's always pleasurable to see a guy who does something that people have become passionate for and has the same passion to keep doing it for the fans. A promise of several decades of the series is one hell of a promise.

Does this pretty much confirm that there will be a new saga after Xehanorts. Its black an white here but promises can be broken. Pretty ironic if he did break it considering the series is built from promises of the heart

When Nomura said the series wouldn't end at KH3, I didn't think he meant Kingdom Hearts would continue for decades. Though he could just mean he'll make great games for decades. :B
And I thought I'd be disappointed if the art book was tiny and the size of the PS3 case, but I actually like how they've put it together. I was expecting a separate book with the average PS3 case, but this is a nice surprise. :D

I'm glad to know he did wish Final Mix released in the west earlier... It's the thought that counts I supposed, especially when we thought they didn't care until now.
I'll follow the series for as long as I live! I look forward to what the next decade has in store.

Ahhh! That's an awesome message. IDK why, but I was kind of nervous he would announce something in the message, which would have been cool and all, but just announcing something new would have lost its novelty fast after we see that something new in person. I'm gonna hold up and wait until the 10th. After all; I've waited THIS long to finally play a Final Mix and get my hands on 1.5 in general, so a few days more shan't hurt me! ;D

So underwhelmed by this artbook. Most of the artwork they advertised for this artbook was not actually in the artbook. This is the kind fo false advertisement I dislike. I was excited for the Riku sketch and the cute world designs but nope. Not even the once-shown CGI artwork that was made for this collection.
It's all artwork that has been available on the internet since 2003 lol. Worse yet, there is tons of pieces of unreleased artwork that they could have used like Alice's stained glass panel, an SDG artwork that was only in the proposal/planning binder sent to Disney employees, that Riku sketch, and a bunch of other cool stuff they could have used that is probably somewhere in archives.[/spoiler]
The message is soooo sweet though! And the new artwork! Nomura <3 Will follow the series until the end
That blows. Now I'm somewhat glad that I didn't end up pre-ordering the game to save some money.

Yeah...If you don't usually care about stuff like this then it isn't worth the buy at all. And if you aren't really looking to play 1.5 right now, waiting for a price drop would probably be better too. I really do hope they try harder with 2.5 to make an artbook with a bit more going for it (mainly more unseen/rare art and no renders).

I don't think anybody could have ever doubted his dedication xD This was the first project that was all his own, and Sora is a very special character to Nomura.

Actually i have another game that is preordered for the same day but the street date was broken and came out on Wednesday like 2 days ago. I am going to get it today seeming that i am inpatient that is why i dont want to wait for another 6 days lol

Really if you think about it it isn't that much of a wait from america. From where I am now there is a +15 time difference from the east coast of america so that's only (48-15) 33 hours to wait after america gets their hands on it and a lot of that time will be spent sleeping anyway. Hopefully i don't have work. Going straight for Final mix platinum straight up. The anticipation!

Kind of underwhelmed by the message... I mean, it's a nice, heartfelt message and whatnot, but he pretty much said this exact same thing back at E3. I kind of wish they just left the message as a surprise and NOT make it a part of the advertising for the artbook.

The artbook is a letdown for me T.T I was hoping for something more...just something more. I preordered it at my local gamestop, but I won't be spending any more money than I would have for the actual game, there is a $5 reservation fee that actually coincides with the game's actual price, and they consider it to be preordering, so I get my preorder bonus as well as paying regular price for the game, which I'd say is a win-win. Nothing lost, nothing gained.

I wanted to believe in SE. Really shouldn't have considering how often they have let fans down in the past. I wish I could ask the person who picked the art for this artbook "Why?" because it's very uninspired and doesn't bother to offer fans something they haven't seen before. Heck I'd have taken a reprint of that rare Spanish comic "The Sceptre and the Kingdom" which is vastly more interesting. While not canon or even drawn by Nomura, it was entertaining and something not everybody even knows exists.
I'm exaggerating, but it's stuff that provides fans something new that makes people feel like they are getting their money's worth. If anything, I am second-guessing my preorder. I don't even like the dynamic theme they are giving us...idk. I know the brand team that worked on all of this is dedicated and loves the series and did their best to deliver something nice, but it all seems uninspired when you think of what could have made it better. I'm not sure why somebody didn't tell anybody "Hey, this doesn't seem like a cohesive presentation. You've got two renders in it and an area; all three that have nothing in common but the fact they are in the same game. None of the main characters...no special artwork they've never seen or would be nice to have in print. Maybe you should pick something else to put inside?"

Yeah, that is how I feel. I'm getting it for regular price which is cool but it isn't anything special besides two pages that could have probably been printed on some really nice, formal paper and put inside of the game box rather than a whole artbook of nothing for just that message and awesome sketch.
And I can't even put the game on my shelf because it is in the artbook rather than a normal case.
I kind of feel bad for Europe because they had to pay extra, but I have seen people actually pleased with this so this is probably for them...I like that they are thinking for all of the fans and not just us who are really dedicated, but they forget that for their core audience that has suck around all of these years, this is some really old stuff and it is their core audience that probably bought the LE the second it went on pre-order.
Imagine if they gave this to Japan. Japanese fans would be "wtf"ing because this is just reprint of the same stuff they got in the Ultimanias ten years ago.
They need to approach this as "Don't give NA/EU/PAL what you wouldn't give Japan, then give them what you'd give Japan" and they'd hit it right on the nail on how to approach this kind of Limited Edition product.

Stores in Europe are selling it early. Not sure which one...I'd suggest going to your local one and seeing if they have it and get it if you want then cancel your current order.

Why does Kingdom Hearts have to be affiliated with SE? This is exactly the kind of thing I mean when I say that they always squander KH's potential outside of Japan.
Still hoping that the NA version has the game and art book as separate things...

Exactly. I don't know how they went from the best god damn collectors edition ever with the Mark of Mastery Edition to...this. This is how to not do a LE. There are hundreds of examples of highly successful LE editions that SE could have used for an example. They had the MoM as an example!

If you didn't have to spend extra for it, I'd say just keep it. You can probably ask the person at the store to give you the standard edition.

That's Square for you. They didn't "lie", they just didn't tell the whole truth. It's "our fault" for implying what the final product would be. Seriously, who the hell tricks their own fans like that? Words can not express how much I loathe NA Square. Why can't we have Japanese Square?

I feel like I should immediately be sulking with sadness upon reading this, but how do you know this? I mean, I'm almost positive that you're right, but we haven't SEEN the North American limited edition yet. What makes this bad though is that I'm an OCD type of person. Therefore, whatever they do to 1.5, I want 2.5 to be the exact same. If the artbook is the game case, I'm left with two options.
1) Buy a second copy of 1.5 eventually so that I can have it in a real case since I would assume that they wouldn't repeat this same exact type of LE for 2.5. Thus, I would have cases for both.
2) Hope that they do the same thing when 2.5 comes out, that way they'll both be the game in the art book. But, really, who wants a repeat of this?
Like I said, maybe they got cheap and made the book the game case for EU/PAL regions?
And maybe they even love NA so much more that our artbook is different and has way more cool artworks too!

I didn't think MoM was a perfect CE, but then again, that's my opinion. I mean it was really, really awesome, but there are other CE's that I've thought were better done.
Personally, I actually think the 1.5 artbook is still awesome. Only thing I don't like is how they not only made it the shortest artbook ever (24 pages? Seriously?), but they didn't even make good use of the tiny space they gave themselves, because two of the pages aren't even art (the backsides of those translucent pictures) and then they filled up entire pages with ONE piece of art. Seriously, that sketch of Sora walking with Pooh and Piglet did not need it's own dedicated page. Nor did the render of Peter Pan. Nor did the swirly hill from Nightmare Before Christmas need to take up TWO WHOLE PAGES. It's like they deliberately tried to leave as little room as possible for good art.

When advertising it, they showed off art for it that I believe wasn't in the artbook. Coupled with the fact that there is art out there the general public hasn't seen much of or at all (such as the Alice stain glass platform), it would have been nice for them to live up to what they showed.

1) Petitions never work. Even when they get enough signatures to draw attention, the best thing you'll get is "We've seen your petition and it's cool. But that doesn't mean we actually have to do anything in response." *coughMajora'sMask3DSremakecough*
2) The optimist within that is somehow still undyingly infatuated with anything and everything Kingdom Hearts, even this disappointing LE, makes me think that part of the reason this artbook is as uninspired as it is is BECAUSE of the fact that they're eventually going to release a holy grail of Kingdom Hearts art books.
My guess is that, right around or after Kingdom Hearts III is release (screw up that collector's edition, Square, and I will have your hearts on a silver platter), then they will make a big "Xehanort Saga" art book with stuff from all eight games in the series.
As I've said several times in the past, I would really love to see a Kingdom Hearts version of the Zelda "Hyrule Historia". The artwork in that book is AMAZING and it has a ton of info on the series as a whole. Something like that for Kingdom Hearts would just make my entire life feel complete.
I'd also be cool if they just made a "Complete Works" art book, much like they did with Okami and MegaMan. Those are so freaking awesome too.

This was the page they advertised would be in the book right? Only half of whats on the right page is there. No drawings of Halloween Town trio.
They also showed character designs such as Riku would be in there. Just watch here:

Well... I don't know what to do then. I suppose I'll wait until the LE of 2.5 gets announced and if they pull this same thing with that, then I guess that would be fine since 1.5 and 2.5 would be the same. Even so, it'll feel so wrong to have my favorite games on PS3, but not have PS3 cases for them.
Bleh, knowing how I love to blow money for dumb reasons, I'll probably cave and just rebuy 1.5 in standard edition once the price dips a bit. Although, I'm not sure how long that'll take. The KH series tends to retain its value really well.

Personally, I'm okay with the way they incorporated the artbook and case. I wasn't expecting the artbook to be much of a great thing anyways. I like what they did. Exactly. I don't know how they went from the best god damn collectors edition ever with the Mark of Mastery Edition to...this. This is how to not do a LE. There are hundreds of examples of highly successful LE editions that SE could have used for an example. They had the MoM as an example!
Eh, I don't know if I'd call the Mark of Mastery Edition "the best god damn collectors edition ever". For only $15 more, it was pretty good I guess. I'm happy I bought it. But postcards and a 3DS case and some AR cards are hardly things I'd get very excited over, personally.

I remember seeing many tweets by Japanese fans on the day the artbook was revealed as the preorder bonus. They were all pretty excited for it and 1.5 honestly had a ton of potential to sell really well.
[spoiler=rant]But then there was the whole mess with the European orders where they stealth-edited the descriptions so it went from a free preorder bonus to a more expensive limited edition.
And then there were all the preview promotions through big name sites that were honestly just a disappointment in every way possible.
Follow that by the game leaking last week early and pretty much all the new content was uploaded onto Youtube within two days.
Now we arrive at today, where not only did the game break street date but we discover that everything that's been advertised is a complete hoax.

Yes. A thousand times. Other really good ones are the Diablo III CE and Sonic Generations. Those include SO many extra goodies, and the artbooks alone are mindblowing.
And you're right. I guess in all honesty there's nothing to complain about. I mean, the 1.5 artbook isn't amazing, but it's still really cool. Dat hardcover is sexy. And it's free. So, it's not like we're getting ripped off.

On the brighter side of things, my oh-so-laid-back brain has already come to terms with the whole artbook/game case thing and has rationalized that it's somehow cool. Don't know how that happened, but in short, I'm totally alright with it now.
Honestly, I think it's just because my mind refuses to feel anything negative about Kingdom Hearts. How else could I feel like every game in the series is a 10/10?

Well, it's a lot nicer than the one I got with Catherine, at any rate.
[spoiler=For those wondering]It's a 32-page paperback which is mostly character bios, promo/cover art, and 4 pages detailing the process of creating the cover of the artbook. The soundtrack (which isn't the entire soundtrack) is slapped onto the back cover in the same slip-case as KH1.5LE.[/spoiler]
I do take issue with the fact that the artbook also serves as the game case. I hope that's just for Europe, because otherwise I can see myself importing a Japanese copy just for a proper case.

I did preorder the LE edition a month ago but then I canceled it. I have the standard edition ordered now. It's more than enough to keep me happy for an entire year. Until II.5 comes.

That would be awesome because there is so much room for new ideas like new worlds and keyblades and all that stuff.

But they made a video advertising artwork in the artbook that wasn't in the final product. That is the definition of false advertising. They showed us pictures of art we'd never seen, making us think "Ooh, rare art as a pre-order bonus? Hot dog!" and then there was no rare art.
They shouldn't have even made that silly artbook trailer in the first place.

No, of course I'm not mad at Square for making 1.5. I remember, before it got announced, telling my friend:
"You know what'd be awesome? If they re-released every Kingdom Hearts game on PS3, and it included all the Final Mix versions too!"
And now, beyond all doubts, it looks like that is actually going to happen. So, no I'm not angry. I'm thrilled. But what I'm saying is that, in my opinion, this is a subpar product compared to what they were implying. It's not like I cancelled my LE pre-order of the game or anything. It's just less than what I would expect, considering that SE knows that Kingdom Hearts has an avid following.
But, like I always say, North American Square Enix loves to completely ignore Kingdom Hearts' western popularity.

I personally would have gone with "Even though we're all thankful for them even localizing the game to begin with, it's really disappointing that they advertised completely different content than what we would actually be receiving. Unfortunately this is rather common in advertising and we can't really do anything to change that."

Artbook sucked, though, as do the GNs. But that's not really a Limited Edition like Mark of Mastery, though. And even worse is that we're talking about one (handheld) game vs a bigger-than-normal collection for PS3. Obviously, the latter is going to give you more bang for your buck.

I guess that I'm the odd man out when I say that I actually like how the Limited Edition looks. I mean, having an artbook that doubles as a game case? To me, that's a smart design choice. It actually reminds me of my Fullmetal Alchemist: Conqueror of Shamballa Limited Edition that is siting on my shelf!
I'm actually kinda sad I don't have a PS3 at the moment, cause I would have preordered this in a heartbeat now that I'm looking at the final product.

This is a fairly recent change during this year. Lol Europe until recently was not really a big base of operations. When SE bought Eidos, it was much easier to build a structured European base, and just recently there has been a lot of downsizing done at SENA, while the European boss is now the president over all of the western offices.
Back when Re:CoM came out, this was DEFINITELY not so.

Still a bad comparison. As I mentioned, Legacy isn't a LE like MoM or 1.5's LE nor is it a regular remastered collection since it also includes a PS3 game, and 2 PSX games. If you want something more fair to compare it to, do it with MGS HD's LE which was $30 more for a 250-paged artbook.
Legacy isn't all that cracked out to be just coz it includes the majority of games. Short of buying everything MGS-related, or wanting to get into the series, there isn't much reason to buy it. Not worth it as much as even the regular 1.5; if at least for FM+.

Heck I'd have taken a reprint of that rare Spanish comic "The Sceptre and the Kingdom" which is vastly more interesting. While not canon or even drawn by Nomura, it was entertaining and something not everybody even knows exists.
HOLD UP! Honestly, I would have taken a translated The Sceptre and the Kingdom over even the Ultimania art O___O I've never seen a translated version of that comic (it has gotta be somewhere) so a physical, printed AND translated comic would just be too much for my heart to handle lol

I cannot stand it when CE's don't include the main game case. IDK why, but I love having the main game case to put along with all my actual games and keeping the CE separate. When they include the game case like this, it makes the pure bulk package of the CE look very weird and I hate it. That being said, between eBay and GS's I am going to find a separate plain game case to use for 1.5 <_<

The sad part is, I'd rather you do all that stuff you just said than have the disappointment they gave us. Even if you have all that to deal with, at least you'd be giving us NEW things we (by "we" I mean territories outside Japan) have not gotten yet so at least after we went through all the trouble we'd be satisfied with what we got.
Only thing I don't like is how they not only made it the shortest artbook ever (24 pages? Seriously?), but they didn't even make good use of the tiny space they gave themselves, because two of the pages aren't even art (the backsides of those translucent pictures) and then they filled up entire pages with ONE piece of art.
I understand people are upset with this artbook (I am too), but the sad part is that this isn't the first time SE has promised a KH artbook and it turned out bad. Point and case:
The 1.5 artbook is godlike comapred to the BbS one. The BbS one has a few less pages, is 1/2 the size of the 1.5 one, next to no concept art (just the art that you see there like Peter Pan where it is renders that are on the main website) and a few CGI images that are literally from the game. That coupled with the 2 lithographs which are the size of and look like postcards, yeah, the 1.5 CE is amazing now that I think about it haha xD
Let's start a petition for a full-blown artbook for all released Kingdom Hearts titles instead, it' about time we get another one, the Kingdom Hearts Visual Art Collection was released ten years ago.
Besides petitions generally failing, I don't think we need to start a petition. SE will definitely release a Kingdom Hearts artbook BUT they will wait until after KH3 so that they can release a huge one that encompasses the entire Xehanort saga and it will be massive. The price point also will not be pretty (I'm think closer to $100).

I ask him if there are any copies left over. He says yes. I'm wondering why there was even a problem.
It sucks that the art book is essentially a big ol' nothin'. I still wanted the Playstation Theme.

Yeah, it'll probably happen. We can only hope that when it does, they release it worldwide rather than JUST Japan because come on. Globalization is impossible to ignore. I don't want to have to stalk my local Kinokuniya for it or pay a bunch of money importing it.

Funny you say that. Though I do actually think the 1.5 artbook is really awesome (besides being the game case, since I agree with you on wanting the CE stuff separate from the physical disc) I actually liked the content of the BBS artbook a lot. But that's just me. Certain people are satisfied by one thing and that same thing would disappoint another.

You know, depending on how well Prima does on their special 1.5 hardcover strategy guide, it might just turn out to be an artbook in its own right. I remember the KH2 strategy guide being chock full of great art. Who knows? There won't be any unseen or rare stuff, but I'm sure it might be some nice damage control for those who are disappointed by the artbook's contents.

Of course! It's just that the booklet never really called out my attention. I am mostly occupied with the game! I doubt I'd pay much to attention to it, either despite being free.

I really wish they would have have made a legitimate collector's edition for 1.5. Even if it was just the game, a bigger artbook (50 pages maybe?), and a soundtrack that contained all the remastered songs in the game, I'd slap down $60-80 for that bad boy without batting an eyelash.
But like many have said, I'm sure SE is saving all the major, expensive artbooks or CE items for around the time that KH3 is released. I could totally see them making a huge artbook that would either be in the KH3 CE or released after KH3.

That's why I still think the 1.5 artbook is great. I mean has there ever really been a REAL artbook of Kingdom Hearts at all? Sure, there was that Visual Arts book for KH1, but that's meh. And the Ultimania's are all in Japanese, so I can't read them plus the conversion rate makes them super expensive.
Thus, this is the only real artbook of Kingdom Hearts we've ever gotten. And I like it. Plus, they could always surprise us. The collector's editions of Final Fantasy XIII-2 ended being drastically different whether you lived in NA or PAL. Who knows? Maybe the artbook for NA differs slightly? Doubt it, but I really just want to make up for spoiling my own unboxing of KH 1.5. It'd be a nice surprise to open it up and raise an eyebrow and then smile when I see art that's not in the PAL artbook.

So far I've only spoiled myself on the message. I'll still probly cry tears of happiness when I open my copy. I won't be able to even play it till I get off work that night at 7, but I'll play it well into the night.

I've played 2FM, but the original FM is new to me. And I never beat the Japanese version of Re:CoM, so a large portion or that is also new to me.

This was a sweet message. Almost sucks that some of the artwork advertised did not appear in the actual book, but I still like it and it's free anyway. Can't expect much from something free.

If you ordered in-store and plan to pick it up, all you need to do is tell the cashier that you wish to switch from the LE to the standard and they will transfer your order to the other and you will get the standard in its plastic glory.
I don't see why you'd wanna switch unless you had to pay extra to get it. But if you're unhappy, by all means, you should still be able to at least transfer the preorder money to the normal set.
He doesn't like the book as a case, as his use of ellipses denoted. You might like it, a bunch of us hate it 8D
If I didn't already own the Japanese version with the standard game case, I'd probably be debating on switching as well. The only benefit of this LE is the letter and Sora sketch. The rest I can stare at in 1000x the quality on my computer.

It helps, but the game is still in the book. Whatever you decide, it won't be hard to keep or change the order so just keep that in mind.

Yeah, it feels almost deceptive that they didn't say the artbook was the case or any kind of new case at all. I generally like standard plastic cases myself, though I always enjoy CE or LE cases too.

I would've preferred it to be like my other cases, but I don't mind. I'm gonna get a bagillion more of those in the years to come, anyway :) And it's LE! Who doesn't want something unique? Even if I hate the whole thing, I shall still appreciate its uniqeness~
But I'm not saying that "everyone should like it and be happy! >:D"; I'm just sayin that we should be happy to get anything special at all! Besides, it's not mandatory, so like I said before: anyone should feel free to change it if they're displeased. I'm not doing a "KH is holier than thou" thing. Just saying how I feel.
I'm mostly just happy that I'm finally getting a FM AND LE! X3

So disappointed in this, i thought the art book would be a bit bigger and be separate from the game seeing as its a pre order bonus gift. I also think the disk would be more secure in an actual case rather than in the book.

As we all hope, perhaps one day they will release a giant collective art book of images from the entire series after KH3 is released. In the mean time, these are the only kind of art books we'll have to enjoy. Not the greatest, but at least they're still pretty cool. A simpler than expected art book is better than no art book at all

Yeah, it's kinda weird. BUT I guess we now know why some sites in different countries offer it as a Limited Edition instead of just a bonus. Usually preorder bonuses in my experience are separate from the games-even CE cases, and the last game I got that came in a digipack(which is what this sounds like) was the Collector's Edition for Lego Harry Potter, which was much more expensive.

You never know. Sometimes the PAL and US versions of CE's are slightly different. Just look at the CE for FF XIII-2. Not saying that's even remotely the case for 1.5, but there could be some differences. The unboxing we saw was the PAL version.

I don't keep up with the FF artbooks, but were they released in other territories besides Japan? I think that will give you the answer. I also really hope it is released over here too, Kinokuniya overprices sometimes so if they are too pricey, I'll resort to online <_<

Though I do actually think the 1.5 artbook is really awesome (besides being the game case, since I agree with you on wanting the CE stuff separate from the physical disc) I actually liked the content of the BBS artbook a lot. But that's just me. Certain people are satisfied by one thing and that same thing would disappoint another.

When I realize that its free, it does look pretty nice for something that's free. The cover of the original Sora artwork is really nice so I could get used to keeping that facing up on my book shelf, but the contents I don't like and it'll be annoying having to take the slip off and put the disc in the book, but it's free so I'll keep it. Can never get enough LE KH stuff (that's a lie btw...some LE KH stuff is positively crappy).

The SE case art is a slipcover. Inside is the digipack book carrying the Disc. The book itself has a drawing of sora identical to the original KH1 Title Screen.

I miss the days when we had REAL instruction manuals. I liked to simply leaf through them, and if I bought a used game it HAD to have one. I understand it's a waste of papers, but I still miss them.

I personally think it looks pretty nice. Was kind of expecting it to be more like a regular retail copy bundled with a separate artbook held together by shrinkwrap. Instead it's very much in line with every other collector's edition by released here in Europe by Square Enix in the past 5 years. As for the artbook also being the CD case, I don't mind. Not too bummed out about the content of said artbook either. Maybe I'm just easy to please. I'm much more picky with the actual content though.
Oh, and this is not the first release of a Kingdom Hearts game that comes with an artbook. The European special edition Birth by Sleep came with one too.

I think it looks nice. HOWEVER, I also dont like it. I do think they did a nice job on how they did it, I just wish they didn't. I was looking forward to displaying that artbook elsewhere, but since the game is part of it, I have to keep it in my draw. I wish it was just a regualr copy but with an artbook bundled with it. But as I said, I am still very happy about this since they did such a nice job with it.

Although, I do think that the 1.5 artbook is leagues better than the BBS one. The more I see the 1.5 artbook, the more I love it and drool at the thought of Tuesday. I just happen to think the BBS artbook is cool too. If I had had the chance to pay a little extra to get one with the US version, I'd have done it.

It's nice. I wouldn't say beautiful. It's a well-put together book, no doubt, and you can tell a lot of attention was given to it. I don't like how the pages are because when you open it, all 24 pages are all together in one binding and because of that you don't want to bend them open or risk bending the pages in a funky way :c
The box is matte, so don't touch them with oily/lotion-y/sweaty hands or your fingermarks will show up.
And the manual is just a slip of paper and kind of...eh. The days of thick manuals are gone :c

And hey, a weeny manual is better than no manual. When I opened up Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time and found that there was no manual all, I was pretty shocked. Not even a single slip of paper or anything. The entire left half of the case was empty. The Ratchet and Clank collection just had a voucher code for the Sly demo, so it didn't have one either.
Like I said, better to have it than not.

Almost 1in x 0.5in larger than a normal PS3 game case. It won't fit next to the rest at all.

Thing is, I'm really impatient about.... well anything really. But especially when it comes to these types of things that trigger any weird OCD's of mine. Needless to say, knowing me, I'll probably have my second copy by the time TGS rolls around, lol. (Just in time for 2.5 to be announced!)

Same art (actually there are a few small additions that aren't in the PAL version), just a different organization of it and personally, I think it looks way better that way. Hooray!

But someone went through the NA version really slowly, and low and behold, there are two additional pages in the middle of the NA artbook. In the EU version, they're just the blank white pages at the beginning and end of the book. But those pages actually get used in the NA version ^_^

I'm too impatient dude. Gotta have my PS3 case copy right NOW. Plus, I crunched some numbers before doing so, and I realized that with my current funds and future paychecks, there was plenty of opportunity to pull the trigger on an additional copy of the game. So I did :)

Yeah, I'd pretty pissed if Square had reversed it. I mean it is only two pages of Wonderland artwork but still. The fact that they gave us more than what they gave EU is rude. Especially since ours is free and theirs isn't.
