As promised, the interview with series creator Tetsuya Nomura that was included in this months Famitsu has been made public, as well as some new screenshots from the KINGDOM HEARTS -1.5 HD ReMix- collection.

This year marks 10 years since the first Kingdom Hearts title was born, and now with the time ripe it is being remastered in HD. Let's peruse the content from these screencaps and an interview with director Mr. Tetsuya Nomura!
A NEW DOOR OPENS IN HD
Kingdom Hearts (hereon KH) is an action RPG series loved throughout the world. Of the seven stories that have been revealed so far, KH Final Mix and KH Re:Chain of Memories have been remastered in HD inKH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, releasing in 2013 for PS3. On top of this, KH 358/2 Days is also included as a volume converted to video! Without further ado, let's check out the new images of each title, born again and more gorgeous than ever.
KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX
Kingdom Hearts, in which Sora, the protagonist of the series, and Donald and Goofy travel through various Disney worlds. This title, which released in March 2002, returned triumphantly as KH Final Mix, which used the North American version that released the same year in December as a base with added components and the English voicing. This Final Mix version has been remastered in HD in KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-. The voicing that was in English will be in Japanese.
KINGDOM HEARTS Re:Chain of Memories
After the adventures of KH, Sora and Donald and Goofy set foot in 'Castle Oblivion', in which the further you go in, the more you lose your memories... KH Re:Chain of Memories, remastered in HD for this title, was originally included with KH2 Final Mix, which released in 2007. It was a 3D remake of the Gameboy Advance title KH Chain of Memories, which released in 2004.
KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 DAYS
The protagonist of KH 356/2 Days is Roxas, a young man who played an important role in KH2. The story of Roxas and Axel, who takes care of him, and Xion, a girl who has newly joined 'Organisation XIII', unfolds. In KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, you can appreciate the main story of KH 358/2 Days put to video and bestowed new voicing as a video volume.
KINGDOM HEARTS FOR PC BROWSER (TENTATIVE TITLE)
Kingdom Hearts for PC Browser (tentative title), announced at Tokyo Game Show 2012 with KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX-, will be a free to play online game for PC browsers. As a player you will customise an avatar that will represent you and adventure through Disney worlds. It seems that undertaking quests and cooperating with friends to defeat enemies will be elements?

Mr. Tetsuya Nomura (hereon Nomura): All the titles in the series so far are a collection, first establishing the internal set-up, called the 'Seeker of Darkness Chronicles' (※), and I wanted to bring together the whole story arriving at KH2 before we turn to its conclusion.
―There's strong meaning behind going over it again, isn't there. Will there be changes or additions to the content of the games?
Nomura: The two titles that are included as games will have trophy support. We intend to include an extensive range of trophies, from the more orthodox to ones that won't go down easily. Also, the controls in KH1 have been modified to be a little closer to the ones in KH2. We've also replaced some of the models of the main characters with the most recent ones.
―Why are you remaking KH 358/2 Days as a video volume rather than a game?
Nomura: Actually, I had also been thinking about doing a full remake like KH Re:Chain of Memories (hereon KH Re:CoM). However, if we had started that it would have considerably delayed starting work on the new title, so it ended up being included in the form of something like the 'theatre mode' that we already have in the series. We are changing 70% of the main story into cutscenes, with freshly-recorded voicing too, and we are currently working on around 100 scenes. If you watch from start to finish, you will know and understand the story of KH 358/2 Days. Though it's in a different form than the game I think people will enjoy it.

Nomura: This is not a title with an emphasis on story, but we are working premises in. That said, for the first time in the series you can enjoy the content completely separately from the main series, so even beginners to the series might be able to be at ease playing it. The battling is different again from KH Re:CoM, and we are aiming for something with simple controls and flashy movements. I think customising is important to this type of game, so we are filling it with new elements in that area.
―By the way, what of a HD version of KH2 and up?
Nomura: It would be unnatural not to (laughs).
―Here's hoping! And now, lastly, a message for the gamers please.
Nomura: Because the series so far has been scattered over different consoles, I think there have been people who found it difficult to access, with sequels such as KH2 that might already have come out by the time they came to know about the series. With KH -HD 1.5 ReMIX- you can enjoy the story from the beginning, and in HD quality on top of that, so if you haven't played yet please by all means use this opportunity to do so. I think even those who have already played through the series may make new discoveries regarding foreshadowing of sequels and lines that reference previous lines and such by taking another look at everything aligned in chronological order. I would be happy if this title turns out to be a 'restart' for the series.
※Seeker of Darkness Chronicles... mentioned as the phrase 'Xehanort Chronicles' in a previous interview with Weekly Famitsu, this refers to Xehanort the Seeker of Darkness being the pivot of the whole series. 'Seeker of Darkness Chronicles' is the formal name first used in the project proposal.

Very hard and possibly pointless. We'd need an image in which we know the camera is fixed. Right now we have battle scenes which we can't exactly replicate in order to compare.
It looks cramped though, even if you compare it to YouTube videos.

I wonder how many chronicles has Nomura planed for the series.
I do hope that when he starts the next saga/chronicle he will keep on one single platform. Or atleast I hope that when he finishes it he will re-release the games in HD format like he does now with this chronicle.
But I guess that's still too early to talk about.
I believe KH's trophies will be the only ones that I will gladly do.

I would ask why it's such a big deal as to why the cutscenes being cropped is starting a war between users and Square Enix, but then I remember, it doesn't really matter.

I wonder.. did they change the Re:CoM models as well? The Re:CoM pics look good but nothing near the KH 1 ones..
Not complaining though, this is looking gorgeous! Dat Kairi screenshot! So much emotion on her face!
I can't wait to see how this HD version will change the way KH 1 plays and maybe, just maybe, they'll add a couple of scenes that link all the games to the plot introduced in DDD.

I hope the Trophies is gonna be very hard, FFXIII-2 was far too easy for me.. Making the Sephiroth Fight would hopefully be a trophy.

With Tai Yasue co-directing, it seems to imply that, yes.
The Re:CoM look stretched somehow. Does that mean they didn't remaster the cutscenes in that? I could be seeing things.
I still can't wrap my head around the 70% thing...why would they only represent 70% of Days' story into cutscenes? What about the other 30%? @x@ And why does Nomura say that if they had gone ahead with fully remaking Days, it would have pushed them back from starting on the new title. What new title is he talking about? He can't be talking about 1.5, can he? o.o Lastly, he says he wants to remake the games up to KH2 before we get to 3...does that mean we shouldn't expect 2 to be bundled with BbS, Re:Coded...maybe even DDD? O-O

Because the other 30% are probably filler scenes that have no importance.

Introductions on how to use the game. Missions that teaches you how to attack, use limit breaks, how to understand the panel. Basically mostly tutorial part of the game.
Looks beautiful.
It might just be me, but in that picture of Marluxia and Naminé, the walls look more detailed. Also, the shading on their hair looks more refined.
Kairi's model in KH1 is awesome! Plus, did they change the Guard Armor's coloring, or was that already done in Final Mix? I distinctly remember it being purple. I like it this way better, though!
And do I NEED to say anything about 358/2 Days? Roxas, Axel and Xion in HD! :D Can't wait to see the other members, especially Saïx, Luxord, and Demyx! Plus 100 cutscenes without gameplay. This will probably be as close as Kingdom Hearts will ever be to being a movie.
It's an awesome time to be a KH fan!
P.S.: I wonder if there might be additions to "Ansem"s Reports. It would take little time to edit/add to those, surely? It's more likely than getting additional whole scenes forshadowing KH3, anyway.

Thats probably because its just one color with different shadings, its easier to look more detailed if you're using a monochromatic scheme.

Kairi's model in KH1 is awesome! Plus, did they change the Guard Armor's coloring, or was that already done in Final Mix? I distinctly remember it being purple. I like it this way better, though!
And do I NEED to say anything about 358/2 Days? Roxas, Axel and Xion in HD! :D Can't wait to see the other members, especially Saïx, Luxord, and Demyx! Plus 100 cutscenes without gameplay. This will probably be as close as Kingdom Hearts will ever be to being a movie.

P.S.: I wonder if there might be additions to "Ansem"s Reports. It would take little time to edit/add to those, surely? It's more likely than getting additional whole scenes forshadowing KH3, anyway.

Yep, it just sounds cooler too. Sure, Xehanort is an awesome name, but newcomers would look at it and go "Huh? Who? Is he the hero?" due the familiarity of having series or stories usually being named after the hero and not the villain.

Their faces do look a bit creepy. Donald looks like and alien lord and Goofy, I don't even know where to begin, but all the new pictures are absolutely beautiful! I never dreamed it could look this clear. That said I never really saw comparisons, but still.

Also, I think the blur is fine. As with any camera, you want some things in and out of focus. The "director" doesn't want you to focus on Yuffie's legs in the bg. As for the foreground, it kindof makes everything softer in a nice way. Like Taochan said, I'll need to see it in action to make a proper judgement call.

As much as I want Vita to be a success, it will make the point of making the game, which is placing it all back in a console, pointless. But I do remember Sony something that allows you to play PS3 games in PSV, so that might work, but I'm not sure with the details.

I'm loving the new eyes, and the shading and detail they've put into the models this time round, but I can't help but notice that because famitsu and all these sites save their images in .jpg, it really subtracts a lot of definition in the image...

I imagine they could do secret endings in the same fashion that KH1 and KH2 did with their Final Mixes. Have 1.5's secret ending be extended in 2.5.
I know right? Its been a recurring problem for me since I started playing the series, the eyes always looked different when they zoom out of the character, I'm really glad its gonna be fixed, now I can stare at their eyes as much as I want.
The detail in the eyes was the highlight of playing KH3D, so seeing the updates eyes on all of the characters is perfect. I know they won't add in the slight movements like KH3D (dat natural eye movement unf) did but still the style is enough to make me extremely happy.

The Japanese for that line (ダークシーカー編/daaku-shiikaa-hen) is official, but 'Seeker of Darkness Chronicles' is my (fan) translation! The official English will probably be localised differently than what I chose. (Maybe 'saga' instead of 'chronicles' idk. I liked chronicles though :P)

I realize this may be blasphemous to some, but the one thing I'd like to see them do is replace the color health bars with the ones we see in every game since KH1. They've updated the models, the reaction command abilities were added, possibly some controls like the analog camera will probly be added, it would make sense to make the bar look up-to-date as well.

It made me feel confused at first but I actually kind of liked the invisible health bar. It gave bosses a sense of being ominous and powerful.

No this has been pointed out for awhile now. It is to make it easier for people to use abilities. Also de-clutters the HUD a bit.

They changed it to make it a bit more like KH2. Making things easier to do, opening chests is now one button away

For instance:
-Roxas being Sora's Nobody.
-Roxas' memory loss.
-Roxas having been in the Organization.
-Riku turning into "Ansem"
-Xemnas creating a Kingdom Hearts out of the hearts released when a keyblade destroys a Heartless.
However, it isn't horrible playing Days before KHII, speaking from my experience with the series. A few surprises still remained ("Ansem" is not really Ansem, he and Xemnas are the Heartless and Nobody of Xehanort, Roxas recombining with Sora). In fact, this allowed me to really connect with Roxas before KHII.
I first played the series in mostly chronological order: KHI, CoM, 358/2 Days, KHII. Then Birth by Sleep, Re:coded, and then I spoiled myself on DDD. (still planning on getting it though, when I can afford a 3DS.) Funny how they seem to be rereleasing them in HD in the order I played them in originally... :D

You can't really say considering you either played Days before KH2 or you didn't. For those who see Days first in this Remix before playing KH2, I doubt they'll mind at all but rather really enjoy having it be in chronological order. It makes things easier rather than jumping back and forth and back again with BbS and then all the way to end with Re:Coded. Personally, if I got to choose how to play a game, I'd almost always choose chronological. IDK, there is something great about not knowing the ending of a game before it happens (if you play through KH2 first you obviously know something bad happened to Xion, so there is a huge spoiler in itself right there that she is never mentioned).
Regarding the whole Days spoling KH2 thing, this collection is especially for all the people who just got confused, didn't buy all the games and have no idea what's going on. Therefore it's okay if a few things like Roxas' memory loss are explained beforehand, since the plot is difficult enough as it is.

I have no idea why, despite the fact that it's been the same for every title in this series, that because no localization announcement immediately followed the initial reveal that so many people assumed the game won't be coming over at all? It's strange.

Maybe people are by now just overly afraid of being "trolled" by Square, although by all logic it would be moronic in terms of business for them NOT to bring this over to western shores.
Bringing all together on one system may even bring in new players who can get the KH experience in full swing from the beginning.
Not to mention Nomura considers the Final Mixes the "true canon" and EU as well as Australia would finally get Re: CoM.
Many sources of complaint would actually vanish with the Final Mixes and Re: CoM finally available everywhere.

Oh, no worries. Meh, let them think that. Obviously they don't follow their Hearts. What does it matter even? As long as it is KH right?
No matter how many games I have to buy, once a KH appears for a console I own, it immediately crushes every game in sight and takes priority and remains at the top of the list no matter what. If it's not for a console I own then it's Youtube time. That's why I'm so excited for this collection.
