Hey everyone! First off, it looks like Gamefaqs has a daily poll concerning Kingdom Hearts 2: Final Mix+ coming stateside. So far the results are looking more towards our favor, but support wouldn't hurt! I suggest everyone go to Gamefaqs and vote supporting Final Mix in the states! And yes, companies like Square Enix do look towards polls on gaming sites like Gamefaqs for insight on stuff like this, so make sure to vote! Below you can find the poll results at the time of this news update. I will make sure to post the results of the entire poll once it's over!
Next up, it is once again rumor control time! Gamefront.de is reporting a German release list for upcoming Square Enix games. This list apparently has a "Kingdom Hearts 2 Limited Edition" for June 2006. So, just what does this mean? Will we be seeing such a quick release for Europe? We are leaning more towards bogus. Yes, many of the other releases on the list are infact true, but the list itself comes from a very vague source with little to no confirmation on this, so do not get your hopes up yet.
Big thanks to KHN for the heads up!
Lastly, it is time to announce our second Featured Theory of the Week. We have recieved many submissions and are going through each and every one picking some out weekly! This week's winner is Ragnarok_77. I thought this contained some very interesting points, with support, and was just an overall good read. Congratulations! If you would like to discuss and read his theory, click here. If you would just like to read it, click read more. If you think your theory should be featured, send us an email, or post it in the forums!
Ragnarok_77's Theory:
Firstly, with the Final Mix + movie, there are a few big burning questions
about it. The first and foremost, probably the most relevant, is where or
when does this take place. I have a feeling this all takes place before
Kingdom Hearts I even begins. This movie, I feel, chronicles the birth of
the entire real story behind Kingdom Hearts, and as such, may be the last
title in the series, but that's jumping the gun by a mile. Back on track, I
think that where the movie takes place is in the dark realm, but there's no
proof really to say either way.
The three soldiers (I don't like using the initials, because I know it gets
kind of confusing seeing E.S. B.H.S., etc all the time. It disrupts reading)
are obviously the central parts of the movie. Two have been confirmed, Aqua,
the blue haired woman, and Ven, the Roxas look-alike. The third solider I
originally thought would be Xehanort, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
In addition, we see an old wizarding type sporting some familiar clothing to
those of us who finished Kingdom Hearts I. He clearly is wearing "Ansem"'s
little outfit, though it is slightly modified, which is peculiar. In
addition, he seems to "summon" a black and red clad soldier that looks an
awful lot like Evil Riku from KHI when Ansem started controlling him during
the forming of the dark keyblade. (Still one of the best boss fights evar.)
This Dark Soldier as he has come to be called originally looked a lot like a
heartless, but this is probably not the case. The blade he is carrying
appears to be devoid of a keychain, as I'm sure many people have pointed
out. The same holds true for the blade the three knights wield as well.
Mickey's Star Seeker at the end, and the blade used by the bald man DO have
keychains. This makes me think that those are true keyblades, and the others
are not. Big deal, I'm sure there are hundreds of people saying the same
thing.
I feel, like I'm sure many people may by this point in time, that the bald
man is in fact named Xehanort. He not only has those nice yellow eyes we've
come to despise, but he also is wearing the same outfit as Xehanort's
heartless from the end of KHI, which has already been stated. The Dark
Soldier that was summoned is NOT wearing the EXACT same clothing as Riku
was, as Riku's outfit had more blue in it, and the dreaded Emblem on his
chest. It is possible that the bald man conjured this Solider the same way
he transformed Riku. Xehanort's heartless though also seemed to possess the
ability to take control of bodies, as Riku found out by the middle-end of
Kingdom Hearts I and still was grappling with through CoM and KHII. This
sounds like a boring lecture on Kingdom Hearts past, but I'm going to make
it relevant! Just wait. The unnamed soldier who was initially though to be
Xehanort (based on minute hair and eye color similarities to... well...
Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts II) seems to have something really bad in the way
of a grudge against this bald man. It is my understanding that they will
have a show down after the clip cuts to "Kingdom Hearts", even though he is
clearly outmatched by the bald man's prowess. However, the knight will
defeat him, and the bald man in return will take control of the knight's
body.
Waking up in the knight's body, he would still be Xehanort, except with his
memories temporarily lost and his hair turning from dark brown to a pale
white. It may be then that he is taken in by Ansem the Wise to go on to
create Heartless and Nobodies and everything else. Perhaps with the new
Xehanort being split into Heartless and Nobody, both bent on using the
powers of Kingdom Hearts (like the bald man appeared to the end of the final
mix + movie), that the knight was restored in some way, or maybe restored
when the heartless and the nobody were both defeated. The only thing I can
think of to thoroughly refute this would be how you would go about taking on
the Soldier in Final Mix +. Even still, I feel that the way to fighting him
goes along with the theory. Then again, this could be easily debunked, but
it is interesting to think about until rendered fail.
Thoughts on Aqua... I don't know, but she does seem to have a close
relationship with Ven. I feel that Ven is clearly Sora/Roxas age, and Aqua
seems to be too old to be a romantic relationship, perhaps more of a
motherly one. Maybe that's just because her blue hair makes her a tad more
distinguished in my eyes. It's just an opinion. In addition, it's clear that
Ven resembling Roxas is not a coincidence. Roxas' real name may be Ven if
so, then it seems Roxas, and perhaps Nobodies, play a larger role than we
may think. I also don't feel like they would create 11 brand new characters
and let them all get killed off in one game. I feel we'll see more of
Organization 13, because though they are Nobodies, when they were created
there was a heartless born as well... and if their Nobodies are strong
enough to maintain their own appearance... plus the Roxas and Axel
friendship seems to have been left at such a sad point... I don't feel it's
quite finished. Maybe that's just my own hoping that we'll see Organization
XIII again.
Final points of contention:
- Roxas is able to use two keyblades possibly as a result of being part Ven
and part Sora, two keyblade weilders... or maybe cuz it's just cool >_>
- Mickey at the end of the trailer is the first time we see him without the
inverse Kingdom Key, which strikes me as odd since it really doesn't help
place the time period. He had a keyblade when visiting Ansem, and had the
Inverse Kingdom Key at the end of KHI.
- Only Mickey and bald man's keyblades have keychains attached to them, the
rest are simply swords. A keyblade is not a keyblade if it doesn't have a
keychain (that's my feeling/opinion).
- Xehanort being a keyblade master could explain why Riku was able to take
Sora's in KHI and use it for a short amount of time while Sora doubted
himself, but I think that may only be part of the reason
- This is my own opinion, but I think we'll see something of Sora's
father... possibly the unnamed soldier with brown hair and crystal blue eyes
before turning gold... most likely not, but... who knows.
- Mickey's letter at the beginning of KHI leaves a few questions, as in how
did Mickey know of the "key" that would save everyone... perhaps from Yen
Sid? Or is it someone else?
And finally, for all those who are fearful of Sora not being in the next
Kingdom Hearts as a main character, at the beginning of the series, he is
told that he has the mightiest weapon of all, and that he will be the one to
open the door. He hasn't opened any such monumental doors yet that I'm aware
of, and until he does, his role in Kingdom Hearts isn't over, so fear not
