Wow, I was reading around when I found this!
Next-Gen Biz has listed the top 100 game developers of 2007, and, surprise surprise, Kingdom Hearts Director Tetsuya Nomura placed in at lucky #7. The article goes on to describe why Nomura will be so big in 2007 (below) and includes a very...suave (I can't believe I just used that word!) picture of him!
Nomura has been Square Enix's most important creative for years now, since his design work on Final Fantasy VII made that series a juggernaut. That series has continued to do well under his watch, though it must be said that the most recent entries in the flagship franchise were not his work. Instead he has been focusing on the Disney collaboration Kingdom Hearts, an RPG with such universal appeal that it recently topped 10 million in sales. Now that series may be in fallow, so he's back on Final Fantasy - and though none of the FFXIII games are likely to manage a stateside release this year, fan anticipation for them is one more reason for him to be here.
Other Square-Enix developers that made the cut include Hiromichi Tanaka at #82 (FF11, FF3), Yuji Horii at #68 (Dragon Quest), Yoshinori Kitase at #62 (FF7, Chrono Trigger, KH), and Yasumi Matsuno at #13 (FF12). You can view the rest of the developers here.
I personally think that Tetsuya Nomura has made some amazing works! What about you guys?
