G4TV Interviewer: I'm here with Raio to talk about a little Kingdom Hearts 3D for the Nintendo 3DS. Tell me about the game. Raio Mitsuno (Product Manager for Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance]): Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] is our brand new Kingdom Hearts title. It's specifically for the 3DS. There's obviously Streetpass, there's the AR element; you can actually preorder the game right now and get a couple of AR cards that will unlock special Dream Eaters. Interviewer: Apparently they're actually useful in this game? Mitsuno: They're unique creatures that exist only in the Sleeping Worlds. There's good ones called "Spirits", bad ones called "Nightmares", and they'll actually fight alongside Sora and Riku and be your party members. There's over 50 kinds; they range from really cute looking cats to really mean looking dinosaurs so there's quite a range that fits anyone. Interviewer: Traveling between worlds in Kingdom Hearts has always been a key component of the game. How has it changed in Dream Drop Distance? Mitsuno: In this game, Sora and Riku do what's called a "Dive Mode". They're actually diving headfirst through the portal between the worlds. Interviewer: Dive Mode is different from the Drop System so tell me about that. Mitsuno: You're actually pretty much alternating. In the Sleeping Worlds, your characters will fall asleep after a certain amount of time. But yeah, basically you'll switch over to another character and you'll play that story. Interviewer: The release date? Mitsuno: July 31st for Nintendo 3DS. Interviewer: Well I know this is going to make Kingdom Hearts fans very happy. Thanks for talking about it. |
