Whenever they decide to show it off again, hopefully it's closer to release so the speculation/anticipation cycle is shorter. As fun as it may be, I don't want another 2 years of thinking "I just want to play this game already".

I hope we see Quadratum with different weather than we did in the first trailer. I hope it’s not just that flat grey overcast the entire game. Don’t necessarily need a full blown weather cycle, but it would be nice if it changed at different points of the game.

Only thing I'm really interested in seeing at that early stage is some Disney properties, partly to get more of an idea how they might work in the game. For example, whether or not they'll all be live-action properties, if they're strictly set in Quadratum, etc. That kind of thing would be worth seeing. Maybe new outfits/designs for various characters, too.

I wanna see a base combo from Sora lol

We still rocking that overhead swing > stab > horizontal swing? Maybe add that forward flip strike that KH3 threw in? Or are we gonna get something a little fancier for the new saga? I'm not sure if I'd rather see them break tradition or hold to the familiar.

I guess it'd also be cool to see a totally non-standard combo string in a trailer before seeing the basic one. I think a lot of people were very unhappy with KH3's limited amount of combo-altering abilities, given how we were given heaps of really good ones in a free update. I can't imagine they'll forget the lesson they learned there. I'm hoping they can indicate to us early that base-Sora's combo game will be just as if not more important than transformations and special moves.

More so in KH3 and KH2, I felt like some of the Disney worlds slowed the pacing of the story and added in a bit too much filler. Obviously, you can't remove Disney from the franchise for obvious reasons, but with the exception of Mickey, Yensid, Donald, and Goofy, there isn't much the other characters from Disney add to the plot. Maybe Maleficent and Pete are exceptions too, but the Disney experience just kind of puts a halt to the plot and takes us through the plot of the movies while adding in bits and chunks from KH's campaign.

If they're going to use Disney worlds and characters, I feel Disney needs to have the Disney plots resolved while at the same time, make their stories more integral and organic to the plot. The basic formula in KH was ok, because it was essentially a pilot and the square combo was new, so it felt fresh, also it seemed though the villains were more looped in to the central plot. But, overall the formula got a bit stale.

I liked the princesses of heart concept which involved Kairi, but they hadn't really expanded on that as much as they could have. I also felt giving her a keyblade was excessive and pandering. I believe there are other ways to have made her important to the plot and the gameplay mechanics. I have similar issues with Axel getting a keyblade.

As far as gameplay, I feel it's a bit loose and not as grounded as it could be. While I do like the freedom to use a variety of magics and melee options and crowd control, it often feels like Sora flings all over the place. I'd want a more grounded Sora, with heavier hits and bit tighter to maneuver if that makes any sense. Granted, I think the way Sora interacts with a lot of the enemies influences how Sora plays. I like FFXVI's gameplay. Maybe make Sora kinda like that, but only slightly looser.

I also don't like all of the retcons and asspulls. I'll forgive them if the 'seeker of darkness' saga is truly complete and they found a way to develop a new self contained story that contains some semblance of continuity, but not a direct connection to the previous entries. I say that now because the seeker of darkness saga should be a learning experience. Take what was good as frameworks, but improve upon all the bad. Sora's character needs to be revamped (mainly his personality). The plot needs to jive and not rely on secondary sources not well conveyed in the plot.

Really hoping for TWEWY characters and Yozora to appear.
Expecting Joshua's friend turn out to be Yozora #Nomuraverse

What I most hope for a rereveal is a hint at the kind of tone and vibe of the game more and like, a hint at what the story is actually about. Like obviously we know Sora is trapped in here, etc. But I doubt that's being solved in one game, so what is this particular title really about? That and I just want more of a sense of how the game will function, how Disney worlds will kinda work, if any of fans dreams of 'daily life Sora' are even kind of being played with or not.

Most crucially, I want confirmation that the GummiPhone is back and better than ever.

I realise what I'm opening myself upto here when I say this, but all I expect from KH4 is a Ratatouille moment where I'm mentally transported back to KH2 when I watch the opening video.

Small, small, tiny winy, little expectations

i think this is very possible!! I don't mean to be reductive by saying this, but as someone who plays both games a lot, KH2 and KH3 are both games where Yen Sid tells Sora to go fuck around in Disney worlds, nothing happens, and then the plot happens at the end (and for a little bit in the middle in KH2's case). Neither of these games have ongoing important events that take place in Disney worlds, and even their endgames are mostly a sequence of unceremonious executions for the bad guys where some of the good guys reunite with Sora.

What puts KH2 ahead is that it has new characters, starts off in an unfamiliar setting, and introduces a threat that is (sort of) new to Sora. KH3 does the same story but lets it rock with all known characters, with the only fresh moment being Sora meeting Vanitas. KH4 should immediately feel more like KH2 with its new setting, villain roster, and slightly aged up(?) design for Sora.

I don't think they need to change too much about the established formula to make the game feel new, they just need to throw in some new stories, characters, and situations that feel unfamiliar to KH as we know it. These moments of unfamiliarity don't even need to make up an entire game, just exist alongside the more familiar side of KH as we know it in order to create a contrast.

As far as it 'feeling' how KH2 made us feel... a lot of that is just choosing how seriously we take this stuff. I'm going to invest in the game in earnest to the best of my ability, rather than point and laugh at the contrivances and occasionally embarrassing dialogue. But in order to do that, one needs to alter their thinking and expectations a bit. You can't go in expecting Shakespeare. I can pick apart KH's storytelling all day, every game not called KH1 is loaded with story moments that I consider to be unfathomably stupid, but sometimes its easier to just focus on the characters, the moments that DO work, and the whimsy. I'll only be harsh if I feel like NOTHING is working, which, luckily, hasn't happened yet in Kingdom Hearts.

I'd like this new trilogy to pull away from the urgency to be reunited with the guardians of light or Riku and Kairi. We've had countless games from the last saga doing this. I want Sora to be solo for as long as possible, make some personal growth of his own while unraveling the mystery that is Strelitzia and Quadratum. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind if we see Donald and Goofy, or Kairi and etc. But I feel like us long time fans should have the chance to see the series grow without rehashing anything from prior games. Or simply age it up to speed story wise? Furthermore, no more reveals of everyone being Sora. No more clones. Just no to all of that. It was fun up until KH 358/2Days.

Anyways, what would be cool is seeing more of what the villains are up to. Heck, give me a game like BBS without any context of their connection to Sora and co. I kind of feel like that is the main purpose of the mobile games, but unfortunately, I'm not into them and not the right target audience; since I dislike the idea of putting money into games as a whole. And I find it frustrating that because I didn't play the mobile games I missed out on seemingly important lore? So I'm hoping they can explain without it being an information dump in KH4.

Or give me Yozora, since it seems like Verum Rex might not be a thing anymore? I'd rather play between Sora and Yozora and know their connection rather than playing as Sora and Riku like in KH3D.

And I'm good with the return of Final Fantasy characters. Or Disney Worlds.

I know these expectations I have are probably unrealistic, however, I can dream!
