Keyblade Graveyard
First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS II (2006)
The Keyblade Graveyard is a desolate land with mountains of jagged rocks. Keyblades cover the land, a reminder of the historic Keyblade War that took place there some time before Birth by Sleep and its victims. It also has the importance being the place where Aqua, Terra, Ven, and Mickey take on Master Xehanort and his apprentice Vanitas.
The Keyblade Graveyard is also the place where Vanitas was created from the darkness inside Ven's heart. Later Ven goes to the Graveyard while following Vanitas, who teased Ven about Terra and proclaiming that Terra was no longer himself. Master Xehanort then lures Ven there when he captures Mickey, of whom, Ven saw as a companion.
At the end of Aqua, Ven, and Terra's scenario the three heroes find themselves in the Keyblade Graveyard together. There they meet Master Xehanort and Vanitas. Master Xehanort's intentions are made clear as he proclaims his desire to create the ultimate keyblade: the χ-blade. Only with the χ-blade can he call upon Kingdom Hearts and recreate the epic Keyblade War. The trio then rush headfirst into a terrific battle.
Ven tries to overtake Master Xehanort, but Master Xehanort grabs Ventus and freezes him, and tosses Ven's body from the cliff he summoned. Terra, enraged, uses the power of darkness, the darkness in his heart to defeat Master Xehanort and Vanitas. This, unfortunately, allows Master Xehanort to take over Terra, and the two fuse to create Terra-Xehanort. Terra has his final battle against his soul, which escaped inside Terra's armor. The Lingering Will defeats Terra-Xehanort and is consequently knocked out.
Aqua rushes to Ven's frozen body and protects him from Braig. Aqua brings down Braig, but not before he flees the scene. Aqua, weakened from the fight, is knocked out by Vanitas. While Vanitas tries to stab Aqua with his keyblade Ven recovers and the two clash.
Vanitas and Ven are transported to the Awakening and the two have an internal clash within Ven's body, which is possessed and being is fighting both Aqua and Mickey. Vanitas is defeated both by Ven and Aqua, and the χ-blade is destroyed which shatters and causes Ven to lose his heart. Xehanort is blasted to Radiant Garden and Aqua and Ven's bodies are lost to the Lanes Between. But are soon rescued by Mickey and taken to Master Yensid.
