To commemorate the announcement of KINGDOM HEARTS III's release on January 25, 2019 in Japan, Square Enix has put up a special board displaying the "Stories Connecting to III". This board will be on display at the Shinjuku Metro Promenade from June 25~July 1.

During E3, VentureBeat spoke with Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura about why a world based on Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was chosen to appear in Kingdom Hearts III alongside Hercules, Frozen, and Monsters Inc.
