I just noticed that thing has exactly 13 spikes, so maybe it is the symbol of the Seekers of Darkness.

They look like plastic toys, you can especially see it with Terra when the 3 are together.
And the customisation is ugly because it's a)sexualizing and demeaning Aqua and b) doesn't fit - it's just random things on top of your characters, it's not a new outfit (ex 3D sora outfit vs KH2 outfit etc).

I mean I think I get where you are coming from, but I'm pretty certain this will also be a feature that can be used by Sora in KH3. 0.2 is essentially a vertical slice of KH3, so almost everything we are seeing gameplay wise is meant to be reflected in KH3 as well. They aren't going to build systems for one super short game on UE4 and not have it in the full one.
Also I don't really think it is sexualizing her at all. It would be something if we were dressing her up like Lightning and Aqua was devoid of any personality but these are silly adornments you see in a lot of games.

I love these little Disney cameos in the way of outfits and accessories in this game and UX, they're such a nice touch. I really hope they're in KHIII!

Well, yeah? But Aqua's not being any more sexualized by costumization than she already was in BBS, and I doubt this game will let it get as bad as far as demeaning Aqua goes as BBS did in Olympus Colyseum, so Aqua's already a point ahead this time around. Customization will likely be a thing available for Sora in KH3 as well, it's not demeaning in and of itself.

It is rather offensive when you take the feature on its own with just Aqua, but again I don't think this is a one-off feature only Aqua will have. And there was likely no inherent ill will from them creating the feature.

I can understand it from a lore POV because it does strike an odd visual of her going through literal hell with little wings on her back, but chi/UX set the precedent. That game is afros and costumes everywhere with a bunch of kids going to war over light. UX and what they are implementing in 0.2 are not that different.
We've exhausted the graphics topic so much in the past, though. This appears to be the aesthetic they are going for which is sad and I agree with you on that. Muke did ask you, though.

Tbh, this makes Sora look worse than it did in the trailer.
I am quite fine with the models actually, with the only glaring one being Terra somewhat, as Aqua looks fine and in the next scene with Aqua and Mickey i think they look gorgeous.
I was hoping that the visuals would improve a bit but I think when I am finally playing the game they will not bother me too much. Kinda sad how many spoilers this trailer had... I was thinking of not watching it, but then realized that I would have had avoid basically all social media not to spoil shit, so ehh....

Looks fine to me. It is keeping with the style of the series, only advanced to next gen graphics.
Actually, the accessory thing might be great. This might mean the actual accessories we equip for bonuses will be visible on Sora's attire. Could also be another reason why they simplified his outfit.
Oh woow the environments look amazing! Not all that happy with the character models, especially that KH2 Sora but I can live with it. And I personally don't like the customization, simply because at least everything we saw there looked horribly ugly and out of place, but hey it's optional so whatever. I'll just pretend it's not there.

No, they look absolutely fine. It's a stylistic choice that's faithful to the original Kingdom Hearts games.
As for the trailer itself:
- It seems like they re-added some gloss back onto the models or something? I don't know. I noticed with with the screenshot released a while ago, but thought it was just taken from a bad angle or the the picture didn't do much justice. I think this might just be a problem of it looking better when you're actually playing it, just like the people who played the demo said. I'm happy that they're not as bad as they were some months ago and there has been definite improvement, but this might be the final look.

Luckily I avoided most of the FFXV trailers, but I think it`s a bit sad that they showed that you reach KH1-era Destiny Isldans. I guess one could have deduced it since the worlds and DI fell into darkness and as Aqua was wandering there she would have made it to that place eventually, but it would have been a nice thing to discover when you were actually playing the game.

Yeah, the golden chains were a move Eraqus used. I was really hoping that we would get used in some form and now that it appears that we can makes me happy.

Yes. Everything in 0.2 is meant to be shown as a vertical slice of KH3 which means most of the gameplay features shown are meant to be previews of features in KH3. Like Aqua's command styles are attraction flow. This is why I have no doubts this is something that we will see Sora and co. have in KH3.
DLC is all but confirmed for 2.8, albeit we do not know what form it will take.

Kairi`s smile is so cheerful oh my gosh, it melts my heart. I also like how Aqua stares at her own reflection from the mirror, her expression is interesting. She is probably reflecting upon her journey.

We mostly only know this from Mickey's own mouth, a mouth that has neglected to speak of Aqua before now. If Mickey was purposefully avoiding discussing what happened with Aqua, then why not lying about where his new keyblade came from?

I am not sure, it very well could be connected to it. What ever it is, it mus be something reeeeaaaally evil and sinister since it has the X and word super on it, with 13 spikes around and that can`t be good. Also it`s dragged by a fella in a black coat so this things has all of the sings of danger in the KH series. D8

If I see this trailer and the first thing I'd like to point out concerns the customization, I don't see why I shouldn't just because some other people are like "OMG BRIEFCASES!!!!!111!!!"

I see and agree on the "vanilla sexualization", but mainly I disagree on it because I think it's rather useless and out of place in such a title.
Unchained is fine, your character is just a chibi OC anyway.
But surely I don't like seeing Aqua playing dress-up while in the Realm of Darkness, a place where she literally forgot how to smile but apparently not how to style herself up with some kawaiii cat ears. So unecessary and so fans-pandering.
But hey, that's my personal take on the matter. If you like it fine, you're definitely the share of audience this feature was aimed on.

Don't really know what to think about the customization thing though. First of all I definitely do not think it's sexualizing and secondly. Feminine = sexualizing.
Please understand that Japan has a different culture and no matter how much you want it, your morals do not apply in the same way as they do there. Nor does it mean they are right.

We mostly only know this from Mickey's own mouth, a mouth that has neglected to speak of Aqua before now. If Mickey was purposefully avoiding discussing what happened with Aqua, then why not lying about where his new keyblade came from?

Also now that others mentioned it, that giant hand that takes a hold of Ventus could belong to the Guardian. Darksides have pointy claws/fingers and that giant that takes Ventus does not have them. Guardian has normal not pointy fingers like that thing in the trailer. Sine Terranort appears there I guess it is likely that the Guardian would manifest itself too.

So what we are seeing there is Terra`s heart, no his physical form since that was either A -Xehanort or Xemans having his body at the time. So maybe Ven being there is connected to his heart too? His body is in Castle Oblivion and I think it has not moved an inch from there. Ventu`s heart was inside Sora and still is, so maybe Ven`s heart took a fast trip into the RoD when Sora turned into a heartless during KH1?

But we never did confirm that Vanitas looks like that to everyone, the only time we see that face is when we look through Ven's eyes. The rest of the time Vanitas wore a mask who is to say Vanitas isn't a bit like Xion?

Well, Nomura did confirm that Vanitas had a look prior to the connection to Sora, and it wasn't like Ven at all.
I think he looks like he does to anyone. Xion was a being made by memories, Vanitas isn't.

That would make more sense in Ven`s part. It is also interesting that when Aqua shouts to Terra and Ven, only Terra turns and replies. "Ven" seems to be in a very passive like state, probably going back to how his heart is sleeping and that is why he looks like a sleep walker. Maybe after the proto X-blade shattered, Vanita`s heart went into a similar, slumber like state and explains why he seems so passive and does not respond to Aqua(or then it`s just Ven`s heart).

The novels are the ones that stated he didn't have a face nothing official. Again though what you say doesn't actually contradict the possibility that the only one who sees that face is Ventus. Sora connects to Ventus and when Ventus looks at Vanitas he sees Sora, have Riku connect to Ventus instead and Vanitas would look like Riku to Ventus instead. What Nomura said would remain true, because at the end of the day we've only ever seen Vanitas's face through Ven's eyes. We don't have any evidence that states Vanitas looks like that to everyone, not official or in-game. I'm not saying that's the case just that it's a possibility that can't be shut down until we see Vanitas through someone other than Ven's eyes.

I do know the face looking like a Heartless was in the novel, but I think the whole Vanitas didn't have a real face was general.

Seconded, KH II was a bit "slow" in that regard, just as its combat system was fast.
But I'm confident visits will be a bit more immersive and meaningful now.

Maybe the xblade is an incorporal mass of energy that materializes into the xblade at the presence of Kingdom Hearts? Xehanort summons KH before forging the xblade, so it's possible KH needs to be present in order for the xblade to materialize. And the purpose of the War is to cause a lot of hearts to gather at once to summon KH. Or perhaps that box contains something that can summon KH.

I know I'm already going to miss the idea of Aqua being ALONE in the Darkness, now she almost has a full party. Pity, it was a nice little concept.

I mean, she was alone for 10 years? She runs into Mickey during KH1 time, after all. Which still means she was alone for years before then, and then she ends up getting separated from them all again for another year.

There are quite a lot of games like that, just the hero and the mission. Kind of like a Silent Hill setting, without the gore and horror.

Well, you can deconstruct every game and make it sound like it's the most boring thing ever: it all comes down to how it's executed.

Aqua is remembering the time when she met Sora and Riku and what did she do that time? She didn't give Sora the keyblade so he wouldn't follow her path and instead had him promise that if Riku ever walked down a dark path alone he would watch out for him. Then it immediately cuts to the cutscene in DDD where Riku recaps how there was a time in his life where he talks about how Sora saved him once.
Hirokey, Sora saw Vanitas in DDD and it was the black-haired Sora.
Granted, Ven's heart is inside of Sora's--and IIRC, it was Ventus who was imagining Ven then, so you may have a point about only Ven see him that way--but just FYI:)

This might be a reach out there, but did anyone consider that the Box contains the Lux the unions were gathering? The timing is obviously during the day and from KHX we know the final battle took place at night. If everyone spent the time gathering light and then clashed against each other with darkness in their hearts, wouldn't that be a huge gathering of light and darkness that would result in the birth of the X-blade. It could be Luxu or MoM watching in that scene overlooking the battle, and Kingdom Hearts appearing, ready to open the box. Our character in KHX fades into the Unchained right when Kingdom Hearts appears which would be why we never know of the events after that.
I know these are VERY unlikely but my hope is Sora's secret is one of two things...
1. He's been trying to figure out how to bring the dream eaters with him so he never has to be apart from his beloved pets and we can use them in-game as summons.
2. He ran into Joshua and Joshua took Sora to Shibuya to participate in TWEWY 2.

See I am aware of that scene but that's supposed to be Ventus reacting to Vanitas making him visible, it's hard to tell if Sora sees it to but that was still a sight only possible because of Ventus. Like I said I don't think it's the case I just have always acknowledged it as a possibility Nomura could pull on us because he deliberately made sure Vanitas has only ever been seen on screen by Ventus. Every other time he was masked, his mask was off but his face off screen, or he was in Ven's body.

I am quite fine with the models actually, with the only glaring one being Terra somewhat, as Aqua looks fine and in the next scene with Aqua and Mickey i think they look gorgeous.
I concur that they aren't the best, but they aren't awful. Some graphical parts just lack texture layers, which is why they aren't that great [especially faces and shirts (Terra's shirt jfc why)]. Sora's face at the end is just....hmm.. is perhaps not animated proportionally. His wide smile and head nod makes things all too awkward.

Let's look at which time period we are there and what might happened there that involved Ventus.
There are actually two principal events that can be worth examined in this context depending on what happened in the RoL at the same time:
The first and more likely event is of course Sora turning into a Heartless. As we know Sora's body vanished and reappeared as Roxas in Twilight Town. Ventus' heart is heavily implied to remain with Sora's body and thus, during the time between Sora's sacrifice and Roxas' being fully created it is certainly possible for Ventus to make an appearance in the RoD.
The second event would be around the time of Days when Roxas accidentally accesses Ventus' heart and possibly stirs it. Of course, that part would only work if 0.2. covers parts of the timeline beyond KH 1 and the sealing of the door to darkness.

I was thinking about this too. Since time seems to flow slower in the RoD it is possible that Ven`s heart could have stayed in the RoD for that probably rather brief amount of time. Since Ven also seems not to respond to Aqua`s call and is very passive looking, his heart was is still slumbering and healing the damage that was done with the fight against Vanitas.

The seven inward spikes being there is the reason why I proposed it being the symbol of the true X-blade. Maybe this symbol is actually the keychain of it?
as for it symbolizing both factions I dunno, all in all it looks a little too aggressive and "evil" in design to represent the Guardians of Light and those who want to protect and not destroy the world.
Then again though, if there is really "X-super" written on the red part it makes it even more mysterious. The X is clear for what it can stand, either the X-blade or the Recusant's sigil.
The "super" however...may it be short for "Superbia", our seventh and last missing deadly sin?

That's what I think makes the most sense without digging into further theory territory by making even more assumptions and "what-ifs".
I remember we also see Ventus totally comatose/sleeping in Snow White's glass coffin in one scene, so maybe the recuperation steps of Ven's heart are somewhat visualized through Aqua's journey, possibly due to her still existing connection to Ven.
I.e. it starts out with the coffin scene when Ven's heart is still totally shattered and so badly wounded he shows no visible reaction at all and the scene with unresponsive but already standing (and possibly slowly moving) Ventus is from a later stage of his recuperation process, but it is obviously still a stage where he isn't fully "there" again.
Then there is of course also the scene with the Guardian/a Darkside grabbing Ventus' form (if it is really Ven's heart or just a projection is still up to debate) and Xehanort in DDD knows that Ven is "a broken boy" so maybe the events in 0.2 are where Xehanort learns about this.
Where Ven's heart actually is he would learn later from Xemnas considering how Roxas looks like, after Mickey finally saw what Roxas looks like in Re: Coded he put two and two together rather quickly so Xehanort would do so even quicker with both the information from 0.2 and Xemnas/Days, explaining why he not only knows but can also try to use it to weaken Sora's heart in DDD.
It is also noticeable that during the Nightmare-dream trip Sora takes in DDD Ventus is the last of the hurting hearts he "meets" by literally turning into him for a few seconds.
The idea of Aqua playing 'dress up' in the KH equivalent of hell is offputting to me, but ultimately it was a very exciting trailer with shit I am excited about. Love Darkside!

I am pretty sure it`s Guardian who grabs Ventus. Darksides have sharp and pointy claws, and that thing that grabs Ventus seems to have normal fingers like the Guardian.

It would certainly give an interesting spin on showing "updates" on Ven's status somewhat without going too much into meta-heartstuff.
Considering the wound his heart suffered from destroying the X-blade prototype was worse than the one inflicted by Vanitas' creation I can easily see why Ventus would be in such a situation and largely unable to speak or act even as a projection.
When he first came to Land of Departure he also was still in a pitiful state despite Sora helping to stabilize his heart and actually collapsed due to Terra just asking some questions (granted, Terra was a little pushy there, but still), which Nomura described in the BBS Ultimania as "Ven's heart having not yet fully formed again" which may be a synonym for "not fully healed".
In the four years between Ven's arrival and the begin of BBS proper Ventus does develop in a good pace due to Terra, Aqua and Eraqus caring for him and Terra actually mentions to Xehanort that "Ven got much better since then (then speaking about when he first came to LoD)".
Ventus being so broken and frail at the beginning might also have contributed to the somewhat overprotective stance both Aqua and Terra take on him during BBS itself.
Now I imagine Aqua seeing Ventus in that state again and how painful it will be for her knowing he's so broken and suffering yet again, not to mention that if Terra is really consciously there how much of a gut punch it will be for him, especially when Xehanort's taunts of "how powerless he is to save his friends" may still echo in his ears.
Sounds reasonable about it being the Guardian then, I haven't the anatomy of Darksides fully in my mind so I'll just trust your word on this.
Hirokey's idea sounds actually pretty solid since several things would fit together that way, not to mention the bitter irony that Aqua and/or Terra might have given away Ventus' status and the location of his body and soul inadvertently to Xehanort, their worst enemy who's responsible for all their suffering.
The idea of all this being a manifestation of Terra's own darkness could also give a totally different spin to the scene with the Guardian.
Looking at the screenshot I don't see Terra there at all, only Aqua, Ven and the Guardian.
If that "Guardian" is a manifestation of Terra's Darkness instead of a controlled minion of Xehanort, maybe the Guardian "grabbing" Ven is actually a misaimed protective gesture made by Terra in his despair whicn only drives him deeper in, eventually losing control fully and then Xehanort himself makes his appearance, laughing at how Terra still can't control even his own darkness and possibly sarcastically thanking Aqua for all the information she has given him.

So I can't really screenshot but in the area that Mickey is first seen as a party member is anyone else weirded out how intensely bright that area is? Like this is the realm of darkness right? So why does it look like we're exploring a beautiful cave opening up into some intensely sunny area? Think maybe that's part of Destiny Islands and it's gimmick/notable thing is that it's super ridiculously bright like a sunny day in the realm of light?

What's odd is that DI was not in the Realm of Darkness at the end of KH1 right? That's why Mickey had to stay on the other side of the door while the boys stayed in the Realm of Inbetween.
My second time watching the trailer, and at the very end when Sora shows up at Yen Sid's quarters in the MT, I just realized when Goofy said "you've been gone a long time. What were you doing?", that he was talking about the very end of DDDs. Just interesting I guess.

Destiny Islands did fall near the beginning of KH 1 so it can be assumed that its heart may have been part of the whole mishmash for at least a time.
Maybe Mickey's and/or Aqua's actions actually result in "detaching" DI and creating the door from the final rest in KH 1, paving the way for Sora's final battles against Ansem SoD?
