If you've been following the official Japanese Kingdom Hearts Twitter account over the past week, you may have noticed a series of images featuring Tetsuya Nomura drawing Sora to promote the release of Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMix. It's not often that we have the opportunity to watch him in action, and thanks to Square Enix, you can watch the entire process for yourself!

Probably not, with how many times he's been drawin Sora over the years, I'm guessing about 25-30 mins.

Really cool to watch. I can't tell though, is that Sora's KHII outfit or is it a new one entirely? It definitely has similarities to his KHII one, but there seems to be some differences. Maybe I'm going crazy.
EDIT: Yeah never mind, I'm just going crazy.
Also, I was half expecting Nomura to "slack off" half way through. Now that would have made my day~
Well, the Kingdom Key is a little off.
It reminds me of all the fan-drawn/made Kingdom Keys I've seen, where it's really blocky and the proportions are a little weird. Because the KK is super hard to draw for some reason.

Which makes me not able to think of fresher poses for Sora every time I draw him, haha.
Well, the Kingdom Key is a little off.

I think the end side of its hilt should've stretched out a little bit? He drew it plain straight.
His artwork is impressive to look at, but the pose is just weird and unnatural when it is finished being drawn.
Nomura is such a skilled artist. Damn, that was good ... So beautiful.

I never get tired of watching things like this. Seeing something created on paper like that always amazes me.

Kingdom Hearts III’s current development explodes very much in this sense. Each time, it’s a battle with Sora and co. who are the exact opposite of myself, it’s been over 10 years and yet we haven’t reached a conclusion.
This battle will surely last longer.
In Kingdom Hearts III as well, I am scheming many challenges that Sora and his friends must overcome, because I myself cannot lose either. And in preparation for the great battle that lies ahead, we have this one book that looks back on their entire journey."

You can! It just takes time, practice, and dedication (just like most things in life). My guy Sisk did it, and I don't think it took him that long (I mean like, a few months - year or whatever to emulate Nomura)

Ethy and I were talking about that yesterday, ironically.
If Xehanort succeeds and the World becomes enveloped in darkness again, we wouldn't be surprised and honestly would like to see it happen lol

Just because he succeeds doesn't necessarily means he will survive into the next saga. He could see it as 'fulfilling his role for someone else to come in and finish'. Nomura has said multiple times that III will be the end of his villainy, at least the main villain.
This motivates me even more to draw enough so that I can create my own style. I'd seriously LOVE to know what I can really do.
20 minutes later the feeling will fade in the face of everything else I hafta do...But it's still there. I mostly wish I could learn how to do stuff on a tablet. But I suck, so I'm stuck with a pencil (best weapon EVER).

I actually prefer drawing with a pencil over using my tablet XD. I mean sometimes I'll prefer to either use the wacom or I have ProCreate on the iPad and I use the Sensu 2 in 1 (but using that really hurts my wrist after a while). Everything I make looks better imo when done with pen/pencil. So I agree: Pencil- the best weapon ever!
Wow. Absolutely beautiful. And the fact that the background song is my favorite song from Kingdom Hearts made it even more amazing.

If it makes you feel better, Nomura always starts out with pencil and paper. It's only after he's finished drawing that he takes it into digital to cleanup and color.
That was actually really neat to watch. You don't often watch character developers draw their prominent characters to the public.
I almost felt motivated to draw again when seeing Nomura draw. XD Seeing the last comment, I probably should do pencil first too. Darn cinitq companion ( it's not worth the 2,500 dollars..) keeps messing up every time I draw the outlines so I just get frustrated and give up. Handles the coloring part well though oddly enough...

Always harder to outline with tablets, doesn't give that same natural 'grip' than pencil to paper can. Amazing for painting though!

He was drawing the keyblade so angular I thought it was going to turn out to be the Master Keeper, taking inspiration from the KHIII promo.
I like the perspective though, and we don't see him draw the KHII outfit often.
This was so great! I loved getting to watch the one who designed Sora draw him on paper. That is so awesome! I was already inspired to draw my own artwork picture of Sora from KH II. It turned out pretty good, but Nomura makes it look so easy! :-D I loved the video!
