The colours, the difference in how Sora use to look and how he does look...
Little things like that. I never liked it with Ratchet and Clank not a fan of it here. But I still think it's beautiful

I was literally half screaming when I saw this because I wasn't sure if it was real or not. THANK GOODNESS IT'S REAL!!!! I'll need to get used to the new look, but it's so gorgeous I don't even care! Sora looks gorgeous!
What I'm dying to know is if the PS4 will be able to play PS2 and 3 games? I want to get 1.5 Remix, but if I can't play it...

This first trailer was pretty good. Gave us a mystery right away with what happened to Aqua since she apparently is no longer is possession of Eraqus' Keyblade, and a quick look at Sora fighting some Heartless with an early menu display.

I'm not a big of it either tbh. It makes the characters look too doll like. Which I guess is what they're kind of going for but I don't like the plasticy look they have sometimes.
I seriously tuned into the live-stream just as Versus finished, saw the KH3 E3 tralier, shat bricks and started to hyperventilate. though to be honest i think a lot of us were trying to slap ourselves. I am still in disbelief what i have just watched. tried to post something here after i saw it but the second i clicked *post* KHI just died

I'm also not a huge fan. The colors are my biggest problem but I think that can be changed, it almost makes it hard for the eyes because the colors are way too vibrant and I feel like one step up would be all neon. The textures make everyone look so smooth and with no detail underneath it that it comes off unfinished to me.
However, in the end I don't mind too much given it's KH3.

Exactly what happened to me. As soon as it got past Days (the last in the 1.5 collection) I began to go blank and my mind didn't know exactly what was about to happen.
Never in all my life have I been more glad that our fandom was wrong! KHIII! It's too good to be true! And in my mind, everything is freaking perfect! Nothing can bring me down about this now. And if I AM dreaming, I will happily stay in the Realm of Sleep forever.
And... I know this is just a teaser, and shouldn't be considered canon in the least, but did Aqua somehow get to Destiny Islands by someone other than Sora? He picks up Master Keeper, after all, and inspects it curiously. Maybe it's a hint that there will be sections broke up into missions in the game? Like, maybe Riku went to get her?
Also, the scenes in this put the 3D intro and the thousand Heartless battle to shame. Kingdom Hearts is bringing it, people! And I will accordingly buy a PS4 the day they go on market to keep up with the vibe it's bringing down. :D :D :D We've survived the twilight, people! (FFXIII references ftw) :) :) :) Only dawn can follow now!

This is such awesome and, for me, unexpected news as much as I've wanted this confirmed for years now.
Hope this means we'll also be receiving a new opening song by Utada. I love Simple and Clean/Hikari and Sanctuary/Passion but it's time for a new song to draw this epic saga to it's conclusion!
I'm super exited about this and really glad they put this trailer together to announce it. even if it just shows some very early concepts. The art style is amazing, maybe if it was a bit less pastel-colored, but's that's to see.
Man, this site changed. It's so different. Kind of like the new trailer compared to the rest of the series.
It kind of reminds me of the World War Z trailers with the zombies pouring over each other.
But man it's good to see the heartless again. I missed them so much.

PS4 is not backwards compatible, but that's why they are partnering with that Gaikai cloud streaming service. They will offer PS3 games via the cloud network so that you can still play PS3 games on PS4.
Not sure if you will have to buy all your games again or not though.
Sora wielding Eraqus's Keyblade?
Only thing that comes to this is that maybe Eraqus's spirit or someone/something chose Sora to save Eraqus's pupils Aqua, Ven, and Terra. Well i don't know about Terra but i'm sure there's a chance to bring him back. It's funny because i brother was listening to Dearly Beloved on Piano, and I just decided to go on Google and look up Kingdom Hearts 3, and there it was. I'm not surprised on the females coming to tears, but hell even the males are about to get a heart attack from this. I was definitely shocked, happy, and surprised for this. When i get my first job, i'm definitely working to get that PS4 and KHIII. This is going to fucking rock.

Let's just hope the game arrives relatively soon and they don't pull another Versus on us (which was an amazing surprise beforehand as well!)

I don't think you're alone, I'm seeing a lot of unfamiliar usernames tonight. Heck, there are 56 users browsing this thread right now. I don't think there are even 56 members that frequent the KH section of the forums a week (IDK though, you'd have to ask the higher ups for that data).

This is exactly what I hoped for E3. It was a long shot, but I wanted a trailer with Versus gameplay and a teaser for KH3. I still can't believe they delivered!
I loved the improved graphics but it needs work. Sure this is just a teaser and probably won't even be in the final game, but the PS4 can do much better than this.
I REALLY hope they continue using the command deck for KH3. That was SUCH an improvement in gameplay from past games and I don't know how I'd feel about them going back to the original game's system. I'm sure that this gameplay trailer will actually be almost nothing like the final product, though.
From the looks of it it seems that flowmotion might also be coming back, but that may have been to add to the coolness effect for the trailer :P

Nothing i love the deck system and in some aspects i prefer it over the command but it just comes down to personal preference i would take command over deck whereas i lot of people would have it the other way round

About what was shown though, I wasn't to crazy about it. Graphics were kind of weird, not bad, but as far as color goes it needs harsher contrast because everything sort of blends together. Gameplay also looked slow paced.

They haven't mentioned if the trailer was just a concept or not but many of us believe it was. For one, the stuff they showed was kind of random and didn't really pertain to the story that we assume will happen and the gameplay portion is just a tech demo so I'm assuming it is just conceptual :)

I was thinking this too. This trailer made me think that the Xehanort saga wouldn't end with this game so I hope it was just a concept (no matter how beautiful). I feel like they have so much left to do. Will it really end in one more game? Plus, I was seriously hoping for a new outfit or awesome new battle gear for the final showoff :]

nomura has clearly stated that kingdom hearts will continue that even if sora is not the main protagonist in every game he will be the most important and last one we shall remember. so there's still a good chance kingdom hearts will continue after the xehanort saga

I was at work having the most boring day of my life, pretty sure this year's E3 would be like whatever, and then I got a text from my friend and it merely read: KH3.
And I was like, NO.
And ze was like, YES.
And I was at work so I couldn't just like lose it in front of everyone so I sort of sauntered nonchalantly into one of the back rooms where I proceeded to FLIP OUT AND CRY and then I rushed home with Simple and Clean on repeat and I've watched the trailer like seven times and I don't know if it's sunk in yet but it's really happening, like really, and it's beautiful.

I really do feel like this is a concept trailer, almost like what the did with DDD. There would have been no way to give away that kind of information here in the states just yet. TGS would be the more likely culprit to get it. However I will say that the graphics are stunning, and it did make me scratch my head a little as to what happened to Aqua seeing as Destiny Island is the sea between the worlds. Did she actually get saved, or is she in trouble. Just my two cents :D. Happy KH3 day everybody!!

So I was sleeping (living in Sweden) and my friend was going to watch E3. I told him if there's any new news about Kingdom Hearts he would call me. We joked about how he was going to prank call me.
Then when I was sleeping, he called me and pretty much screamed; "KH3 trailer!!!!!", at first I didn't belive me until I heard the music playing in the background. So I rushed to my pc and saw it. I pretty muchh started to cry.
Now here is the thing. I said I would only get a PS4 if KH3 would be releaved at E3 and it would only come to PS4. Looks like I'm getting a PS4 :D
I think most of us are still recovering from the shock of it being announced! An unexpected treat doesn't even begin to express this.

When my brother told me they announce KH3, I shouted a 'Tessuyaa Nommmuraaa' really dramatically in my mind. I can't believe it's actually be announced it feels like such a long time. It being 7:30am right now, my mind cannot construct a proper sentence about how I feel about that trailer. So maybe I'll try that in the afternoon...
but wow. So shocked.
The gameplay part looks to me like a concept video and not real gameplay. I like the flowmotion on the video, less flashy than KH3D. Last night was really emotional, when Nomura show up after the XV trailer I knew it was the time. Paintful wait ahead.
Yeah, I didn't even realize that it was flowmotion. I hope they don't make the chests as easy to get as they were in DDD.

I wasn't expecting that either, but it makes sense in hindsight given that it was showing in LA.
Besides, Japan will get the first "real" trailer.
Gosh, I would have loved to be in that audience. That must have been such a moment to witness. It's like KH just carved out its own little corner in video game history. :'D
The True Question is that all cinematics with the health just put on or this some actual game play right out of the newly opened box! (Is this the real life or is this just fantasy)
In game graphics that look pretty much like the opening movie sequences, swarms upon swarms of Heartless... Oh PS4.
Also, I'm not a big fan of the heartless. It seems like there are 8 mainly there, then a whole bunch of black smoke :(
It seems to be cinematics. It's too well staged and photographed to be gameplay. The way the camera moves and the way sora moves in relation to the camera would be impossible to do in real gameplay assuming the camera is as controllable as it was in previous games.
I really careth not if they are or aren't. It's so beautiful. So tangible.
It's just a concept beta video. Like the KH3Demo. Or BBS's initial trailer. Or KH2's initial trailer. Or even like KH1's beta. We'll see some real gameplay with an actual honest representation of the game at some later point.

BBS is essentially KH0 so I'm glad.
I liked the trailer but since it's early stage, I'll wait to see what they come up with.
This trailer surprised me. I did not think we would get a trailer for this until 2 years from now. Honestly, I've never been so shocked before in my entire life.
But I'm fairly certain that this project is only a month or two in development. For one, I believe that the gameplay isn't real. I'm sure it's just like the KH3D teaser in which they had pre-animated videos that they just placed the HUD over (although at least they made this one look more convincing by having the HUD blink)
If this project really is in development, then my theory is that it's most of the Osaka Team working on it for now. Since all the other teams are apparently busy and only a small handful of the members of the Osaka Team are working on the HD collection. So this makes the most sense to me anyway.
But I have to say that the artstyle is absolutely perfect! It's pretty much a compromise of what we all wanted. Half wanted it to look a lot like the HD collections do and half wanted it to look like how the CG pre-rendered scenes look. This looks like a good mix of the two, and it looks absolutely GORGEOUS!
If this is anything to indicate, then flowmotion is back, which is always a plus. Obviously the HUD is a placeholder (to be honest, it doesn't really look that good) so I'm sure that'll change. And since this IS a placeholder, part of me still holds hope for the Command Deck from BBS to be the main battle system... sorry, that's just the superior battle system.

To be fair, there's a lot of factors to consider here that weren't present before. Namely, how Square runs game development in the present, and how PS4 games will supposedly be easier to develop.
Finally, at long last, my faith has been rewarded!
While it wasn't entirely visually stunning, in comparison to what graphics engines are capable of now, it was beautiful enough to make me tear up. I think Nomura just had to give us all something to let us know he hasn't forgotten us or KH3, which they have supposedly been working on since 2010 :P
Here's something I didn't notice earlier. None of the small clips from the previous games are from the remasters.
I honestly it's been in production more than just a couple months, i'd say about a year.
Nomura doesn't normally reveal much until about half of it is done, so if/when we see anything more........yeah, at best that's still a guess.

That's really your fault unfortunately. Buying a console for a game that it hasn't even been announced for is a questionable proposition.
I love KH3 trailer but I'm a little sad because, I bought a PS3 just for that game, years agora, thinking that it would be for that and now its for PS4? :/

I guess that was because many people didn't know about Nomura's statement that there wouldn't be a KH III for a long time to come. Heck, the very first hint that there is truly a KH III being considered to be made was in 2009/10, not earlier.

I honestly don't think they have started voice recording in Japanese yet but it was a old piece of dialogue so I don't think they would have used Japanese voice anyway because, like chaser said, it's an *american convention

We don't know the exact release date for the game though. Most of us are guessing 2015 at earliest so you have over 2 years at this point to get a PS4 and Wii U ^_^ Think about getting one console per year...

Yeah, many fans weren't expecting it, though they had said that "no KH3 until Versus is completed" comment years ago so circumstances have changed. Definitely very exciting to see it with our own eyes!
After this trailer the instrumental version of Hikari has an even bigger impact on all of us.
I was so excited to see that Donald and Goofy are party members again and the action menu is finally back! I teared up a bit :')
This was amazing. I'll need to get used to the new look and to the Command Menu coming back, but I'm really looking forward to this.
I hope we actually get to fight hordes of shadows like that. I can't wait to see how everyone else looksm though I do hope they do tweek the looks of the game a little.

Yeah, Does are two aspects that I really don't like about their streaming service the other is that we'd need to re-buy our old games to play them on the PS4 even though there's nothing wrong with the PS2/3 games we have...
Not so sure what to think about the KH 1-2-styled gameplay returning. That probably means the return of MP and well.. I disliked MP in Kingdom Hearts games (it was okay in 1, but I didn't like it in 2, felt like such a drag).. I'm looking forward to see how they're gonna blend that gameplay style together with the command deck, though. Hopefully it'll be fun!

I do too. And I don't think it's nostalgia, I just enjoy those games more than the ones with the command deck. It got kind of stale to me after three games in a row using the same battle system. And although I think it improved with each game, it still felt too similar each time. I'm really interested in seeing how they improve the KH/KH2 battle system and it would be cool if they find a way to work in commands, just as long as it's not the core mechanic.

Of course there will be...it won't make much sense if there isn't. Nomura already said it would only be natural to have a 2.5.
If kingdom hearts HD 2.5 is announced it most likely will be announced at the TGS, since this makes more sense to me.

I would kind of deny that, at least for Birth by Sleep because I felt the command deck system in that game was very broken. But as I said, it was implemented much better in Re:coded and Dream Drop Distance. From what Nomura said, I think the core of the battle system will more like KH and KH2 but it will definitely feel like a more natural progression with the newer elements added in.

Continuing with the whole 2.5 thing, they can easily use KH3 as a great advertisement tool to get people to buy both 1.5 and 2.5. "Kingdom Hearts 3 is in development, so why not take the chance to catch up with every game in the series!"

That would be so nice. They've really been reluctant to make KH available on any e-store. Not sure what the Gaikai cloud system is like, or how much more stable/secure it is, but the Xehanort saga fitting entirely on one console is a dream PS4 could realize.

I'm also hoping Gaikai in and of itself ends up working at least somewhat well. If I could legitimately stream games and have them comfortably playable, even with a few hiccups, that'd be fantastic.

I'm finding it very odd that they haven't made a big deal out of it, seeing as it's essentially PS4's version of backwards compatibility, and would be a game-changer if they came out and announced that it was that.

I'd forgotten about that, whoops. Also just remembered that it was confirmed that it will be used to instantly stream demos.
I think they'll at least take KH into consoderation, given their popularity.
Which is pretty much the biggest tell tale sign of a game getting rereleased in a way that takes more than minimal effort. I expect them to have LBP, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts 1.5 by 2015.
The idea of Gaikai is to eventually have the entire library of PS3/PS2/PS1 games be available on the PS4, so hopefully it's something they figure out sooner than later.

Lol you're late to the party. Nomura already said that the stuff shown in the trailer is CG stuff and that they announced the game a bit early. No early KH trailer has even been fully representative of the final product. Not with KH1, CoM, KH2, Days, BBS, or KH3D.

Yeah, I expect it'll be summer 2014 or closer to 2.5s release. But we can't overrule the fact that 1.5s original JP release date was about 7-8 months before the PS4 debuts, and 11 before the streaming goes live. That makes a world of difference in game production and especially remasters, and fans will have had ample opportunity to play the JP collection before upgrading. the English version is a different story, and we may end up waiting a while longer for it to be supported by Gaikai.

On the topic of why they didn't make KH1.5 for the PS4, I really don't know. They would have been much better off if they did, seeing as most people who used the Xbox 360 are transferring over to PS4, meaning a much bigger audience.

I'm just saying, that would be the biggest troll thing anyone could ever do. "Thank you for preordering this game on the PS3, our secret message is that this game is actually also going to be on the PS4 so please buy that version too."
I cannot see that happening, but if Gakai is just slated as "2014" then maybe they will be sent over if Gakai is released mid or late 2014, not early 2014.

We have no idea. Thats why its so exciting. Maybe because Aqua will come there when she gets out of the Realm of Darkness (its a sign i think). Becase she had Eraques keyblade when she was in the Realm of Darkness.

Correct. DDD is on the 3DS. Of course, we don't know if DDD will appear later on down the line or whether it will just remain a 3DS exclusive :c

A series like Kingdom Hearts with a strong art style doesn't need to emulate ultra-realism. They'll still look fantastic, but in their own way.
Reguarding Gaikai, I made a Japanese PSN to take advantage of as Japan-only PS+ offer, and found out they have a VERY small number of PS2 games (No Kingdom Hearts, some odd titles IMO) on Japanese PSN under the menu that is titled Gaikai. I don't know what that means, but it's there.
I watch this every other day or so and I still love it. When that logo flashes across the screen, I get goosebumps. Every time.

Why? PS3 has seven year old tech in it. It's pretty old for what we can do with tech nowadays. I'd rather Nomura be able to fulfill any of his crazy visions on a piece of hardware that can handle it rather than the PS3 where he'd probably have to make a bunch of compromises.
KH3 deserves the best, in my opinion, and next-gen will be able to do that. I bet if this was a few years back, people would be saying "Awesome! But too bad it isn't on the PS2..." but that is just how it goes.
