First Look at Disney Infinity's Ultimate Unlock Keyblade

In August of last year, the biennial D23 conference featured a show focusing on the Disney video game series in production. The big news from the event was that we learnt that Big Hero 6 will be coming to Kingdom Hearts III, however it was also revealed that Kingdom Hearts content would be included with Disney Infinity 3.0.
Audience members were treated to an exclusive power disc that turned that new Mickey Mouse figure into his Kingdom Hearts counterpart and another piece of exciting information was unvieled for the game's Ultimate Unlock.
Previous versions of Disney Infinity had featured Star Wars items as the Ultimate Unlock, an in-game reward for purchasing all the latest Disney Infinity figures. However as this version of the game focused heavily on Star Wars, Disney branched out for a new Ultimate Unlock that certainly shocked and pleased Kingdom Hearts fans.
Today, Disney Infinity Codes uploaded a video showcasing the Ultimate Unlock which is the famous Kingdom Key from the Kingdom Hearts series. Mickey Mouse, in his Kingdom Hearts attire, is able to use the spells Firaga and Holy when attacking, and is able to store the Keyblade in a heart shaped bag.

It's simply a matter of time until King Mickey gets a full blown figure, possibly in whatever's his KH3 outfit (assuming he gets a new one). Disney seems to wanna release a new Mickey for each installment of DI.

Looking at the Time boss battle, I'm super excited to jump back into Disney Infinity 3.0. The keyblade also helps with jumping back in ;)

How awesome! It's too bad it takes so many figures to get it, I'd really like to support Kingdom Hearts' inclusion in the best way they'd listen ($$$$$).
I hope people that are interested/like this keep helping us to show the Disney Infinity team our support for the series so one day we might have more, though :D From my understanding that "Our Disney Infinity" voting contest is still going.

As you make more posts, your user title will change. From Nobody to the AGITO (999 posts), then you are free to change it to whatever you want at 1000 posts.

it cool and cute but honsety the only thing i have problem is the backpack thay come with it i see why they did it to hold the keyblade but it not needed though the keyblade appears only when you need it am i right

Maybe it's tribute to the KH Manga where Sora just carried it on his belt? I seriously doubt it, but it's neat to over speculate.

Tbh I think the DI people just wanted to give their Keyblade a unique little quality to make it a little different from that other game franchise that they're borrowing from.

It's probably a big scheme so that Disney will eventually sell real-life, heart emblem backpacks. This way it will target both DI and KH fans' money...

From my understanding of playing DI with my brothers since it is technically a pack there is always a backpack of some form that you hold the weapon or item in. Such as with the lightsaber that normally would be placed at your hip but with the lightsaber pack the character has it attached to their back. I love they way they made the pack look though Id buy it if they sold it lol X)

Even with 4.0 (whenever that happens), I don't think I'll buy the game unless they have a Kingdom Hearts pack with some amazing gameplay. I'd just buy the figures.
(I've already started with Nick from Zootopia and then the Mickey figure they gave everybody at D23)

A pack appears on the character regardless of which inventory they equipped, even the lightsaber. At least the keyblade got a special one instead of the generic pack.

I don't think you do because each figure comes with a card with an online code but if you do the stands aren't that hard to find cheap somewhere.

No, unless the full game is available on PC / Mac. Each figure comes with a code you type into the infinity.disney.com website, provided you have an account that you can link.
Once you've redeemed those codes, you can use those characters in the free app for computers and mobile devices.

It's definitely not worth it. An oversized key isn't gonna get me to buy a game and a small army of figurines. I'm still excited about it, though. That Keyblade is solid proof that 1) Disney is giving KH more recognition and 2) it's pretty likely that we'll be seeing some KH stuff for DI soon. Both will benefit the franchise... and fans might actually have a shot at getting a Sora figurine that doesn't cost upwards of 50 dollars.

well my dad used to do shit like that all the time, open boxes and not buy shit but this is usually in home improvement stores where the employees dont give a jolly fuck who opened the box of the furnace pipe.

The Ultimate Unlock is not exclusive to Mickey if I remember right. It should be a weapon that can be equipped to any character in the Toy Box. Kingdom Key was less about Mickey and all about Sora. A compromise, sort of, since they have yet to arrange a KH figure.

Additionally, the pc version rotates trial characters, kinda like Killer Instinct. At any given time 3 characters are free to use until they rotate out.

He is the guy behind the entirety of Disney Infinity. He's an executive producer at Disney Interactive Studios and producing Disney Infinity is his main gig.
They called it approvals in the Gameinformer chat but his listing in the DDD credits were Development Director, which is pretty much the same thing.
From what I can find, that's basically him just overseeing all the departments and giving "approval" for it in the game, so things like the localisation, Quality Assurance etc.

When I get the last few DLC trophies for DI 3.0 I think I'm going to try and take the bases off the characters and keep the toys around for any children / nephews and nieces I may have. It's nice that the toys still have this purpose.

LD has the advantage of being more cost effective than DI. Every new DI figure is a new mold for the factories which adds up in expenses. Most of the LD stuff overlaps with "normal" lego products & already existing pieces. Even wholly new licenses like Sonic are still 90% existing parts anyway. Combined with Lego itself being the biggest toy company in the world & the lego video games standing strong even after a decade of milking, & I difinately feel that LD will have longer legs than DI.
So seeing that a bunch of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, & Star Wars characters already have mini-figures is certainly promising.
