Only a little under four days left until KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX will be released in Japan, and we are all dying to get a small taste of what the game will be like before its official release. On March 2nd, Sony Computer Entertainment Korea held "PLAY the PlayStation", an event where South Koreans could try out demos of various upcoming titles releasing on Sony consoles like the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. Games like God of War: Ascension and Soul Sacrifice were shown off along with the awaited Square Enix title, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX.
In the demo attendees were able to play Destiny Island, the very first playable world in KINGDOM HEARTS FINAL MIX where there are many visible updates to the textures and character models of the world. Below is a comparison shot between the original KINGDOM HEARTS and KINGDOM HEARTS HD 1.5 ReMIX.
One lucky person was able to record the footage from the event and uploaded online. We have uploaded the video to our YouTube for your viewing pleasure. Thanks to Churro of KHUltimania for the info!

Music sounds different. I wonder if they have done brand new tracks or just remixed/rearranged the existing tracks. Either way it sounds pretty good, even though it is hard to tell give that this is a video of someone filming the screen.

Yeah I guess. It just sounded like the tracks had completely different instrumentation something that wouldn't be possible in a pure remix of a track. But then again I am not the most knowledgeable about music production.

Typically they'd include some abilities and such that you wouldn't have access to in the floor demo just to show things off. I suppose that is the case here.

Don't expect the brightness to stay. I think it's just the TV/video camera.

That is probably it. The songs Richard Cheese did on his first album were done with synthesizers, then he later redid some of them with live instruments and the difference was night and day. So it would make sense that they would re-do some parts of the pieces with live instruments if they wanted it to sound fuller
Also, raven777 on NeoGAF says that the video is running at 60 fps, but was not sure if that was just the video running at 60 and the game was actually running at 30 or if both were running at 60.

Yup, I remember they have that often. In the demo of FF VIII I have Quistis can also already use Leviathan in a part early on the first disc despite him only being available halfway during the second disc in the actual game.
Part of me is hoping for better lip sync/movement. Hard to see from this angle with Kairi which could be the problem why I can't see it.
In any case, certainly looks amazing.
Holy shit, the speed and smoothness at which the camera moves, the music quality, using mothaheffin' THUNDER on Selphie; this made my day.
I wanted to see some gameplay with sora fighting riku, nevermind. Really glad they used destiny islands for the demo; being so well lit it makes It perfect to record gameplay.

New Game+ would be great because a level 1 playthrough wouldn't be possible if some abilities like Guard, MP Gift, etc. aren't carried over.
This game looks so smooth! Just look at it when Riku and Sora are jumping on that wooden bridge-thingy whatever during the race.. SOOO SMOOOTH

Yeah, that was one of the most noticeable differences. It looks like they added modern water shaders to the game.
Also, the small details in things like the wooden planks of the shack, and each individual leaf on the bushes really stand out. The detail is really gonna bring the games alive!
As far as the music is concerned, it's either slightly different or its just the result of the recording.... I love the original music in KH1, but a new take on the tracks would be kinda cool (as long as its not changed too much).
It's fun watching Sora cast magic with a wooden sword!
And I have to agree. Destiny Islands is one of the best worlds to put on a demo.
If you guys watch it on a smartphone screen, you can really see how smoothly things run and work. Watching it on a computer monitor does not do it justice.

Looks so crisp and clean with some niffy detail.:smile: They also seem to improve the water too.
This is all just simply gorgeous! Gah! I'm even more psyched now! Everything looks so crisp and detailed (I can't wait to see the Days scenes!). Kairi also seems to look prettier, and I have to say: I'm glad they swapped out the models now! Before, I was a little on the fence about it for nostalgic reasons, but the updated model of Sora snoozing is adorbs.
Yes, I must certainly buy this on day one. Release a super-awesome collector's edition, Square! And if you include a new game +, or have Destiny Islands acessible again later in the game, I sure wouldn't mind! :D :D :D
And Disney channel, you'd BETTER advertise this when the time comes, or I'll sue you. There's no reason not to! This is something the older fans and a new generation can easily enjoy! And KHI's the most Disney-esque game in the series, so...

I'm gonna admit, that part takes practice lol when I first played it when I first got the game, that part was IMPOSSIBLE! However, after playing it OVER AND OVER AGAIN, I can finally get it. The trick is to just skip the trees, go along the sand and just jump up the cliff to win. The tree frustration isn't worth it -.-

Everything looks pretty and much nicer than KH1! I kind of didn't expect them to put this much detail into it, honestly.
The updates seem so simple and clean! I do love the original models for KH1 and if they remade those I would have surely been happy, Sora is getting abit chubby as of late. I do wonder if new voice overs will be done for the overseas releases because I don't ever think I can see Sora's voice in KH1 with those new models, it's just going to be abit weird since both the model and the voice drop have grown on me in these past years. The scenery is beautiful, can't wait to see those other worlds! Especially Atlantic since I can see the greatest improvement being in that area.

This is coming out just in time! My copy of KH1 nearly stopped working yesterday. If it does stop working, I'll just get this and play in much better quality. I actually felt disappointed playing the already existing version after seeing that demo.
trophy list is a bit dissapointing :/ they should of made it so you get tropies for exploring every element of the game like 'beat all 3 friends on the island' or 'play a game using defence as starting option' etc not stupid shit like 'finish the game on every difficulty' or 'finish the game in under 15 hours' or collect every dalmation'
i had such high hopes :( hopefully they dont screw up with 2.5 because i like 2 alot better than 1

Not that I am ENTIRELY pleased over the trophies because I have a bit of a love-hate thing for them right now, Nomura himself didn't seem very interested in the trophies to begin with just "Hey, we're gonna have them" but they are a requirement by SCE for PS3 games anyways so I doubt they spent a lot of time thinking them out. (I like the dalmatian one, though! It is one of the few I figured would be in it)
I'd also hope with 2.5 they are more inspired but the 1.5 ones aren't ALL that bad. People usually play these games more than once throughout the years so it is both an incentive and reward for doing so.
