He was one of the best voice actors on the Japanese side. If not globally. I was sadly expecting him to pass away due to his age. Very sad to see him go.

By the way He was replaced in BBS by Naoya Uchida as Captain Hook.

I wonder who they'll get to replace him.

Ahh, he was Big Boss from MGS4 and Balthier's father in FF XII... I didn't know his age so this is unexpected for me (I figured he was a bit older but I also didn't know he had health complications).

I had once heard that Hideo Kojima set him up to play Big Boss so he could reconcile with his son Akio (who plays Big Boss's son). I hope that in the years after that, that they were able to spend a lot of time together before he passed. I hope Akio is okay as well.

This one hits hard. He was one of the voices that was all over my childhood, specifically Dr. Eggman. I loved his performances in Dragon Ball, Lupin III, One Piece and various others. He will be sorely missed. Condolences to Akio Otsuka and his family.

It's very saddening he won't be here for the end of the Xehanort Saga.

It's so sad. Ohtsuka voiced so many iconic characters throughout the years and was extremely talented and ugh I loved hearing his voice in so many of the shows and games I love...

How sad. I loved hearing his voice in the Japanese trailers. Wish he could have finished the saga, but he did amazing breathing life into the role. Whoever's next has big shoes to fill.

Condolences to his family friends and loved ones

A shame to lose such a great talent with a powerful voice such as his. I hope his son and the rest of the family are taking this the best they can, though it is not easy. Listening to some of his work now and damn, this is a loss for the industry.

Aww man... He was Dr. Weil in the Mega Man Zero series too.

Definitely one of the best Japanese VAs who ever lived. He had one of the most iconic evil laughs in gaming. What's truly sad though is his last performance was in Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. What a way to go.

That's so terrible. Makes you realize, it's sad. But it happens. And that's another reason why Nomura needs to hurry and finish making the third. What happens to another actor? Or someone helping make the game...
The first thing I thought of when I read this was that something happened to Leonard Nimoy. I wasn't thinking of the japanese voice. I almost dropped my tablet thinking that Xehanort had no voice! But it's still so sad. RIP...

That's such a shame and a terrible loss. However, I guess he will live on forever in the characters he voiced. Here to keeping his memory alive.

I will never forget voice actor Chikao Ohtsuka, he did gold Roger in One Piece and Nurahiyon in Nurahiyon no Mago. He also voiced my favorite character from my childhood series, Nintama Rantaro and that would be Yamada Denzou. But most of all Dr. Eggman he did great. Its sad to see him go, but he will be in our memories forever. We will miss him dearly.

It happened......not 1 but BOTH actors of Xehanort are gone. A little part of me......died inside Now what will happen to KH3 as well as Star Trek, knowing that our idols are gone.
