First Appearance: KINGDOM HEARTS (2002) Origin: Hercules (1997)
Hades, the lord of the dead. He enjoys collecting souls, long boat rides on the River Styx, and playing with his three-headed hellhound, Cerberus. These days, he spends his time plotting out new ways to defeat Hercules, the only man to ever stand in his way of world domination.
His latest ploy comes in the form of a new tournament hosted at Olympus Coliseum. Hercules would compete in the Games, win, and then be presented with a one-way ticket to the Underworld as his prize! Too bad Herc gives up his position to a rookie, and even goes so far as to interrupt the final battle between the new kid and that gloomy, spiky-haired warrior, Cloud.
And yet, everything still works out to some extent. Although he doesn't manage to drag his foe into the Underworld, Cloud actually requests to go with him! Now, Hades isn't about to turn down a willing participant, and the two make their way back into the Underworld. Of course, this is just another part of Hades's original plan to capture Hercules.
Hades knows the steadfast hero will not allow him to just walk away with an innocent soul, and will come running after him without hesitation. By utilizing the power of the Underworld to sap the strength of heroes, Hades captures Hercules without a hitch, and gleefully turns to raise havoc among the Land of the Living. Unfortunately for Hades, his victory is short-lived due to one mistake: he neglected to account for the young Keyblade-wielding hero.
Before long, Hercules has been rescued and Hades is forced to return to the Underworld, left to curse at his foes from a distance.
