Having fought his way through countless waves of enemies in order to participate in the prestigious Games, Cloud possesses no sympathy or concern for any other combatants in the tournament. Unlike the other fighters, he desperately wants to, no, needs to win, and he doesn't intend to let anyone get in his way. When faced with a trainee who is just trying to become a hero, he really couldn't care less. His strive and desperation allows him to plow through the ranks until he reaches the final battle against you. However, Hercules interrupts the battle before the victor can be decided. He reveals that the whole tournament is nothing but a ploy by Hades, lord of the dead. The winner would receive a one-way ticket to the Underworld, with no chance of ever returning. Although the winner has not been decided, Cloud chooses to go to the Underworld anyways. He meant to only stay temporarily in the hopes of finding someone, but you and Hercules follow him in, thinking he needs to be rescued. However, this is all part of Hades's master plan. He waits until the opportune moment and capture Hercules. Unable to stand being used, Cloud confronts Hades amidst his rampage while you went to rescue Hercules. When he reunites with you and Hercules, he is able to push him back into the Underworld. |
